SCOTTY ADEMA HOLDS ON FOR TBARA SPRINT CAR HONORS AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

Scotty Adema won the TBARA feature Saturday night (Photo courtesy FloridaSprintCarFans.com)The Tampa Bay Area Racing Association Sprint Cars made their first appearance of the year Saturday night with Scotty Adema of Ft. Myers holding off a hard-charging Sport Allen to take the victory at what he describes as his

favorite race track.  Twenty-one Sprint Car teams made the tow to the high-banked half mile with 19 cars still around for a trio of heat races after both Matt Alfonso and Mickey Kempgens had trouble during hot laps and parked their machines for the night.  Heat race victories would go to Ben Fritz, Dude Teate, and Brian Gingras setting the stage for the 30-lap nightcap.  One driver who had a rough go was "Flyin" Ryan Partin who had the brakes fail on his mount going into turn three during the second heat race.  Partin hit the outer wall virtually head on, then, with no way of stopping the car, slid back down the track and crashed hard into the inside railing.  Even though the car was shortened up a good two feet, Partin climbed out unharmed.  Partin was racing a second Sprinter for eventual feature winner Adema who got to experience both the highs and lows of being a race car owner on this night.  Dave Retzlaf and Larry J. Brazil, Jr. brought the field down for the start of the feature with Retzlaf leading the opening lap.  Adema, who started sixth, was on a roll right from the get-go and took the lead during the second lap bringing Fritz with him by Retzlaf.

JR Garcia Dominates Pro Truck Race at Bronson Speedway

RobertKorsonBronson Speedway, May 10, 2014: Bronson Speedway’s track announcer said it best, “race fans, get ready to see the state’s best Pro Truck drivers…” OK, so not all were there, but four of the state’s best Pro Truck drivers in JR Garcia, Mica Williams, Jessica Murphy and Steven King where there to show their support for the Series and Bronson’s local oval race track.  The Pro Truck Series considers Bronson’s three-eighths-mile, high-bank asphalt oval track to be a hidden gem, and it is apparent that this small town race track is making every effort to support their drivers and traveling series.  Many of Saturday night’s drivers share the same opinion in that the track is fun to race on and more drivers should make the trip to show their support.  Although the Pro Truck count was less than expected, the track and Series still delivered on the guaranteed payout while giving the teams a break on the number of race laps.

Duke Fights Off Challengers for Brighthouse Challenge Win at Desoto

10245522_10203425895989284_7582875421149374710_nCOTT LOCKWOOD, Desoto Speedway – On a night where he said his car wasn't even close to being perfect, T.J. Duke held off a series of challenges and led the final 62 laps of Saturday night's 100-lap Brighthouse Challenge Series feature event at Desoto Speedway.

Polesitter Anthony Sergi led the first 16 laps before being passed on a restart by George Gorham. Gorham would face a challenge from both Jesse Dutilly and Chris Fontaine, even getting tagged in the rear bumper several times by both drivers

Fontaine passed Gorham on the outside for the lead coming out of turn four and quickly stretched his lead before a debris caution on lap 31. Dutilly got to second on the restart, but a flat tire would send him to the rear of the field

Duke worked his way up to second and passed Fontaine for the lead lap 38. He would pace the field for the next several laps with Fontaine directly on his tail. Duke started inching away from Fontaine until the caution flew for third-place running Billy Bigley stopping in turn four.

Jeff Scofield, winner of a super late model event at Desoto last month, moved up to third on a lap 63 restart. Over the next 20 laps, Duke fought off several challenges from Fontaine and started stretching his lead before the caution came out again for Bigley's spin off turn four.
