A Championship Performance

If any fan, driver, or car owner needed a reminder of why Herb Neumann Jr. is a 4 time Super Late Model Champion, he left no doubt in their minds after Saturday night. Neumann headed into Saturday nights season finale for the Super Late Model points season, with a 30 point lead over 2nd place Scott Grossenbacher. Neumann would only need to finish 16th or better to secure his 5th championship, but a lap 4 multi-car wreck, would send his racer to the pits and endanger that opportunity.

Another strong field of 22 Super Late Models turned out to take a shot at victory in the last points paying race of the season. After the fan voted 6 row inversion, Richie Smith (4) and Keith Zavrel (47) would lead the field to green. Smith would jump to the lead from his pole position, and set the pace early. (more…)

Patience Pays off for Scofield in Seafest Win

By Rick Anges – Bradenton, Fl.  Perfect weather greeted the fans and drivers at ASA sanctioned DeSoto Super Speedway for the rescheduled Seafest 100 by the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series.

Twenty cars took time under overcast skies. Thirteen drivers dipped into the fourteen second lap times making for a very competitive field of cars and drivers. Wildwood’s own Wayne Anderson clicked off the fastest lap of the day trekking around the 3/8ths mile High Banks with a 14.673 time.  Second fast was local favorite Jessie Dutilly with a quick 14.682 lap, third was Jeff Scofield 14.714, fourth Steve Dorer 14.722 and fifth fast went was Todd Allen’s 14.745. Roger Crouse Make It Two In Row

Oct. 15, 2011 – Five divisions on hand tonight at East Bay Raceway Park. A cool evening brought fans out and watch a beautiful orange sky cover the area.

First up were the Outlaw 4’s. Just before they started the Feature event, they held an autograph session during intermission as fans young and old came out to get their autographs. (more…)

October 15, 2011- The Top Gun Sprints made their 4th trip to the 3/8 mile and they left the wings in the trailer. The National Late Model Series Southern Tour brought a show to Bubba Raceway Park and the Barrett’s Race Cars Hobby Stocks and Gladiators also put their vehicles on the clay. Sizemore Takes Modified Win At NFS

Paul Sizemore Jr. took the Open Wheel Modified feature event Saturday night with a green to checker run. Jody Turner took the win in Sportsman main event action and Bud Chancey was the winner in Street Stock. Veronica Clark was victorious in the Pure Stock feature and Tony LaPorta out dueled Kevin Underwood for top honors in Box Stock action.

Sportsman would kick off the nights feature event action and Kevin Mills and Paul Shead would make up the front row. Mills would grab the lead and hold it for the first two laps before the caution would appear for an incident involving Dave Ponton and Kevin Davis in turn four. On the ensuing restart Mills would come to rest along the wall at the exit of turn two. (more…)

Bill Vandevender Dominates the Sportsman with Three Wins in a Row

The weather was great and with a good crowd on hand the points battle have really been heating up the racing in some of the classes.

The Mini Stock were moved to the first feature of the night to give some of the drivers in the Pro 4 time to make the feature after several cars being towed to the pits. A great battle went on with Kyle Rice of Labelle, who lead the first half while closely being chased by Fred Harrison. On a restart, Harrison was able to get by Rice to take over the lead then it was Rice battling back. Fred Harrison would go onto win with Kyle Rice second, John Pummell Jr third and making her return back into racing to finish fourth was Michele Riley. (more…)

Top Gun Sprints Go Topless at BRP

The Top Gun Sprint Series will be going topless at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL. this Saturday October 15th.  With the first of two non-wing events to be held at BRP, with the next show on October 22th.

October 15th will be the first time the Top Gun Sprints have raced without the wings; many of the young drivers have never driven with out the wings. (more…)

Seafest 100 Rescheduled for Oct. 15th

Mother Nature Claims Victory

Saturday night was shaping up to be a thrilling night at the Citrus County Speedway. The highlight event of the night was the Robert Aaron Memorial 50 lap figure 8 race, with over 25 cars registering to compete. But after a few rounds of practice, the skies opened up. The rain cancelled the nights events, and left some people wondering if they should be grabbing 2 of each species of animals for the ark. So today we’ll examine some of the points championship battles that will be decided in the next few weeks of the 2011 season. (more…)
