October Begins With A Bang At Bubba Raceway Park
Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators will all take to the track with championships wrapping up quickly.
The Bubba Army Late Models are back for the first time in two months after the rain destroyed the month of August and Rich Pratt still has the #0 at the point. Eleven year old Tyler Clem sits 66 back in second place, an incredible feat for the Late Model rookie. Defending division champion Mark Whitener is now 100 markers back, and Bryan Bernhardt is a further 21 behind him. Jeff Mathews rounds out the top five. Pratt very well could win the title without a race victory, but he doesn’t want to do that. Can you name the last driver to win a title (in any division) at Bubba Raceway Park without a feature victory that year?
Jeff Mathews put his foot down (figuratively and literally) and now has a 19 point lead over Charlie O’Neill in the Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds championship. In fact, O’Neill is the only driver to make every feature, making Mathews feat more impressive. Scott Kurtzner sits only 38 markers behind Mathews, Rich Pratt is a further 12 behind Kurtzner, and Bryan Bernhardt is just two behind Pratt! The title is far from over and it can only get better as October begins to close. (more…)
October Begins With A Bang At Bubba Raceway Park
Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Limited Sprints, Limited late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and TQ Late Models all put on a fantastic show to start off September. Also, don’t forget that we have a 32″ TV being raffled off courtesy of BendinRulesEmporium.com and all proceeds will go the family of PJ Wiggins on the night of October 19th which is the PJ Wiggins Memorial.
Limited Late Models started the action off with Tyler Clem opening the gap up from pole. Richard Ferry would give chase, but a little past halfway he found his racecar slowing and would retire with that. Clem would continue to open the gap and eventually beat Shane Koperda by over 17 seconds. Ricky Land would round out the podium with Chuck Jackson and Ferry the top five.
Brian Hansford opened up with the lead in the Hobby Stocks, but Tim Powers was hunting him down and had Mike Stalnaker with him. At the halfway point Heath Walker looped his #55 and left Hansford to fend off Powers and Stalnaker. On the restart Hansford didn’t fire and Powers made contact that sent the #2 around. Stalnaker, Joey Forsyth, and Wally Schneider were involved as well and the #57 of Schneider would retire as the right rear wheel fell off. Hansford would retire from the event (and was the caution causer anyway) leaving Powers, Stalnaker, and points leader Devin Walker up front. As lapped traffic came into play, Mike Stalnaker set up his move. As the front two entered turn one, Stalnaker used the lapped traffic of Donnie Reed and Dave Arivett to get around Tim Powers and grab the win. Devin Walker, Ray Ethridge, and Heath Walker completed the top five. (more…)
Championship Races Getting Tight At Bubba Raceway Park
Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Limited Sprints will open up October at Bubba Raceway Park, as will the Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and TQ Late Models.
The Bubba Army Limited Sprints have had two events thus far, but both winners are stuck deep in the points chase. Robbie Smith, still winless at Ocala’s 3/8 mile track, is the points leader by 12 over Terry Witherspoon who is also winless in his career at Bubba Raceway Park. Otto Scrape rides third, but he’s 30 markers behind Smith. Tyler Clem, the eleven year old, sits fourth, but the winner last time out- Mark Ruel, Jr.- is right behind him. Ruel has taken the checkers twice but only has one trophy in his shop; Matt Kurtz has the other after Ruel fell foul of the heavily monitored series’ rules.
Tyler Clem would drive in all five divisions if he could, but he’ll most likely stop at double duty. Clem (who will also race in the Limited Sprints) is the 49 point leader of the Limited Late Models and fell one lap- and one cut tire- from making it three in a row last week. Chuck Jackson continues to lose touch in second, while Nevin Gainey closed his gap down to a massive 168 points with his second win on the season. Kevin Mills and Tim Powers, two-time winner on the year, round out the top five. (more…)

Fire And Ice
Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Limited Sprints, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, E-Mods, and 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks all put on some fantastic shows at Bubba Raceway Park on a wonderful summer night.
The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks opened up action with Melvin Fockler leading until a lap four restart saw Brandon Elwood topple over in his #28. Elwood was okay and actually drove the car into the pits. Jason Gamble used the restart to hound Fockler for the lead and made the pass on lap seven, but he saw his lead vanish when he got loose in turn four and contact from Jonathan Appleby sent him spinning. A few late race cautions kept the field tight and Appleby would win over Gamble. Pat Mennenga finished third with Brandon Tillander fourth and William Gillam opening up his championship lead with a top five.
Shane Nichols dominated the E-Mod feature by leading the three caution affair from green to checkered. A late race spin from Devin Walker gave Jon Layerd a shot at Nichols but he couldn’t make the pass leaving Nichols with the win. Layerd, Devin Walker, Heath Walker, and Dave Arivett. Nichols received a $50 bonus from Lonestar Cable and Rick Scott. (more…)

Young Guns Shine At Bubba Raceway Park
Ocala, FL- The NeSmith Crate Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, TQ Late Models, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put on a show for the ages at Bubba Raceway Park.
The TQ Late Models opened up the program with John Hopke jumping to the early lead. Terry Wright would steal it away on lap three as Hopke would have a right rear tire go flat. A few cautions early kept the field tight, but Terry Wright would never look back as he took home a big win over David Rader. Dalton Hopke slipped out of four at the end which allowed John Hopke to jump into third over Dalton. Jerry Heflin rounded out the top five.
Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds kicked it off with Roger Crouse shooting to the lead from fourth starting position. Rich Pratt would slow from fourth on lap fourteen and the resulting caution put Jeff Mathews in the pits as well; Crouse, Bryan Bernhardt, and Shane Nichols would restart as the top three with eleven to go. Mathews and Bernhardt would put on a mega fight, but Crouse won by a straightaway over Mathews and Bernhardt, respectively. Nichols and Scott Kurtzner completed the top five. (more…)

Bernhardt and Mathews have stolen the wins, but Clem is closing in on history.
