UDLMCS Late Models 50FOX Sports Announcer Steve Byrnes Dies
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – FOX Sports NASCAR broadcaster Steve Byrnes, 56, of Fort Mill, S.C., passed away on Tuesday after a long battle with cancer.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Karen Byrnes; son Bryson, 12, a sixth grader at Charlotte Christian School; parents Jerry and Claire Byrnes of Charlotte; sister Betsy Byrnes of Charlotte; brother Dan Byrnes and wife Tammy of Charlotte; nephews Tyler, 21, and Dylan Byrnes, 17; and niece Samantha Byrnes, 13, of Charlotte. While several other Central Florida-area tracks “cried wolf” and canceled
their racing programs late in the week due to an unfavorable weather forecast,
New Smyrna Speedway used the “wait and see” attitude and it paid off as week
number six of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series went off without a hitch
and produced some awesome action for the nice crowd in attendance.

GIBSONTON — At East Bay Raceway on Saturday night it was Kyle Bronson winning the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Roy Woodhouse winning the V8 Warriors, Paul Gibbs won the Limited Late Models, Kayla Jones won the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers and Dan Darnell won the Florida Old Time Modifieds.
In the V8 Warriors 15-lap feature it was Roy Woodhouse picking up his first win of the season followed by Nicholas Schneider and Jeremy Simpson. Schneider won the heat race. (more…)
Anderson’s late pass seals Desoto Pro Truck victory

After taking a wire-to-wire victory in Saturday night’s 25-lap Sunoco Racing Fuels Pro Late Model feature at Desoto Speedway, Chad Chastain was looking to sweep the night’s main events with a victory in the 50-lap Q Auto & Injury Attorney Pro Truck feature.
Chastain came within three laps of pulling off the double, but it was a dramatic pass by defending track champion Danny Anderson of Bradenton with three laps to go that spoiled Chastain’s party and saw Anderson parking in Desoto’s winner’s circle for the second time this season.

What a show they witnessed at Five Flags Speedway last night as the winged pavement sprint cars of the King of the Wing Series lit up the track.
Bobby Santos led several times Friday, including the final 10 laps of the 40 lapper, to win the King of the Wing’s season opener.
Kyle Edwards of Bartlett, Tenn., finished second and Tampa’s Troy DeCaire rallied home from the back for third.

Three Palms Speedway is not with out controversy. Drivers want rules enforced but when they do, the same drivers complain.This past Saturday was no different.
Drivers are told every week, “NO PERSONNEL IS ALLOWED ON THE TRACK AT ANYTIME, INCLUDING VICTORY LANE. IT IS TO PROTECT YOU AND THE TRACK.”
