FL United Promoters Series Starts 2014


The FL United Promoters Series will begin the 2014 season with the Open Wheel Mod’s and Sportsman divisions at Auburndale Speedway onSaturday February 8th. Expected to begin the quest for the champion’s spot in the OWM is reigning 2013 Champion Travis Roland, LJ Grimm, Norm Dismuke, Josh Todd, Roger Blevins, Earl Beckner, Bruce Bennett, Doc McKinney, Wayne Morris and a host of others.
The Florida United Promoters Series celebrated the 2013 Champions at Abacoa Golf Club located in Jupiter, FL on Sat. night January 4th, with over seventy thousand dollars in points fund money and contingency awards handed out. The night’s big winner was Super Late Model Champion Daniel Webster taking home the lions share consisting of $5,000.00, along with a chassis from Finish Line Fabrication and a house Progressive Racing Engines power plant to be used in 2014. Other division champions included, Steve Darvalics Pro Trucks, Travis Roland OWM, Brandon Morris Sportsman, and Kory Abbott in the Legends. On Sunday Brooksville’s Daniel Webster battled a ignition box failure, a jumped restart, and numerous cautions to capture the 2013 FUP Championship over race winner Jessie Dutilly. The pair of series regulars took it down to the final laps with a green white checkered for the battle, Dutilly was able to get the lead and hang on for his 1st win of the season, while Webster a 3 time winner this year took the championship by forty points over Dutilly. Rounding out the top ten in the points battle in third was Billy Bigley Jr., Randy Anderson who also captured the 2013 Sunoco Rookie of the Year award, Wayne Anderson, Dylan Bigley, Anthony Cataldi, Todd Brown, Jonathan Guy, and Troy McNabb. The series will hold the 2013 banquet on Saturday January 4th, 2014 at the Abacoa Golf Club located in Jupiter, FL
The FL United Promoters Series concluded the 2013 season on Sunday with series regular Jessie Dutilly taking a very popular win. Jessie and his team were racing with very heavy hearts after the passing of John Dutilly, Jessie dad on Thursday. The Carbone Motorsports driver and his crew decided to continue on and race, and it was with dad looking down on him as he picked up his first win of the season in the series biggest race of the year. The win came after an afternoon of tuff racing but Dutilly survived all challenges including a tap from second place challenger Randy Anderson on lap 123, Dutilly was given his spot back to set up the green white checkered. Dutilly beat Daniel Webster on the restart and hung on for the win, rounding out the top five were, Webster 2013 Champion, Jonathan Guy who came from his 24th place starting position after a driver change, Billy Bigley in fourth and Jessica Murphy with a strong showing all day in fifth.
This weekend Auburndale Speedway will host the 2013 Florida United Promoters Series 2-Day Finale for the Super Late Models, Regal Automotive Group Pro Trucks, and the Racecar Engineering Sportsman. In the SLM division the best drivers in the state will be on hand to see who can beat Brooksville’s Daniel Webster who holds a 43 point lead over Sarasota’s Jessie Dutilly who will be making a charge to gain the top spot and collect the $5,000.00 points fund prize at the banquet in January. Also expected to be on hand are the “Naples Gang” led by Billy Bigley Jr., his son Dylan Bigley, and Troy McNabb, rookie of the year candidates Randy Anderson and Anthony Cataldi. Coming in from Lake Panasoffkee will be Todd Brown who will be joined by Michael Waltrip Racing’s driver development driver Patrick Starpoli from Ft. Lauderdale. Carol Andrews – Auburndale Speedway races on Saturday night were postponed until Sunday afternoon due to rain. We had a good field of cars on hand for the triple 50 lap Florida United Promoters Series race. The winners in each class are as follows:
This Saturday marks the return of the FL United Promoters Series to Auburndale Speedway for the Triple 50’s. Headlining the night’s action will be the Sunoco Open Wheel Mod’s for their final race of the season. Lake Alfred’s, Travis Roland leads the points chase over L.J. Grimm from Seffner, FL. Josh Todd, Norm Dismuke and Wayne Jefferson round out the top five. In the Regal Automotive Group Pro Trucks, Steve Darvalics of Venice will try to hold onto his slim lead with just two races remaining for the trucks. Young Dylan Martin of Lakeland, Jessica Green in the Coulter Motorsports Chevy, Dustin Dunn in the always fast Dodge Ram, and Becca Monopoli of Lakeland are all in the hunt with just 19 points separating the top five. Leading the battle in the Racecar Engineering Sportsman division is Mulberry’s Brandon Morris with Auburndale’s James Wright III on the chase picking up his second win of the season back on Oct. 5th. Bobby Mobley, Cody McDuffie, and Jay Curry round out the top five.
The Florida United Promoters Series Super Late Models will return to their “Home Track”, Auburndale Speedway this Saturday October 19th for the running of the REGAL KIA-CHEVY 100. With just a few races remaining for the crowning of the 2013 Champion, the points battle has tighten up between Wayne Anderson who lost twenty five points and was fined after an altercation at Citrus last month and Daniel Webster from Brooksville now only seven points separate them. Third place in the standings forty points behind Webster is Sarasota’s Jessie Dutilly who holds a thirteen point lead over Naples Billy Bigley Jr..
