UARA-STARS Celebrate Season Finale at ‘The Rock’

Hendersonville, NC (10/29/12) –While many season regulars are hoping for a solid points day, Darrell Wallace Jr. and Mike Skinner are joining the STARS during the 2012 Championship Weekend at Rockingham Speedway November 2^nd-3^rd.

Since his 2011 Rock appearance with UARA, Wallace Jr. has been turning heads and creating a buzz about his remarkable driving talents in the K&N Pro Series and NASCAR’s Nationwide Series. Returning to the STARS is like a homecoming for Wallace Jr. since he battled and grew up with some of the drivers.

Skinner, on the other hand, has been a spectator to the UARA-STARS throughout this season. His connection with the STARS is through Championship contender Travis Swaim. With Skinner’s experience and well-known background, he was asked by UARA officials to mentor rookie drivers during the last event at ‘The Rock.’ Steve Wallace, Jamey Caudill, and Justin Boston have also entered to run the season finale at the Rock.

Caudill holds the honor of being the driver with the most wins in the UARA record books with 13 wins to his credit. Caudill will be driving the 34 car that has visited victory lane two times at Rockingham in UARA events with Corey LaJoie as the driver. (more…)

Thrilling Victory Comes in his Home State

Cordele, Georgia (Saturday, October 27^th, 2012): For 2012 Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing Enterprises, 15-year-old Anderson Bowen, the 2012 racing season within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance was a very successful rookie campaign for the Suwanee, Georgia driver as he finished an impressive third in the final points standings despite not garnering that elusive first win in the series during the points chasing segment of the season.

Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia hosted the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour in a special non-points race; the Watermelon 100 which served as the first half of the Watermelon Twin 100s with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Southern Tour. With no points chasing to worry about, is was all about the race itself for the driver of the #29 Copper Creek Hardware / Chevrolet and the Peach State teenager made the most of the opportunity be scoring his first career JEGS/CRA triumph.

“Finally! We’ve all worked so hard for this and we’re finally here. This feels great. Just wish my car was here too!” Bowen laughed as he conducted his post-race interview minus his car which was being towed to the tech area after colliding with another car that was stopped in turn two after the checkered flag flew. “I really need to thank Scotty (Ellis) for racing me clean the whole time. Keith Nosbisch Wins Donnie Tanner Memorial Race

October 27, 2012 – Tampa, FL – It was Trick or Treat for the kids 12 & under and Breast Cancer Awareness Night here at East Bay Raceway Park. The third and final race for the 50 Lap Donnie Tanner Memorial Series for the Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifeds, the Old Time Mods and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were all in action tonight.

The first feature of the night went to Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds. Thomas Pratt, Kyle Bronson and Austin Sanders won their heat races. For the feature event it was Powers and Jeff Mathews on the front row. Mathews led the first five laps until tangling with lap traffic of Dakotah Stephens. Mathews broke a shock and never returned. That handed the lead over to Powers and led the entire race picking up his second feature win of the season. Point’s leader David Pollen, Jr. finished second while Sanders, Bronson and Pratt rounded out the top five.

Next up were the Old Time Mods. When the green flag dropped, several cars were battling for the top spot, but it was Jamie Frankland taking over on lap three and never looking back. Roger Herbach finished second, while Bob Fink, Gary Riccio and Mark Steve rounded out the top five.

The Late Models were next for their 50 lap feature event. Winning their heat races were Josh Peacock, Doug Horton, and driving a late model for the first time and picking up his heat win was Kyle Bronson. So for the feature it was last week’s feature winner Keith Nosbisch and Jeff Mathews on the front row. This was Nosbisch’s first race for the Donnie Tanner Memorial as he tuned his car up last week and won the feature, looking to make it two in a row. (more…)

Neumann wins the battle, but Grossenbacher wins the war at Citrus County Speedway

Citrus County Speedway fans were treated to a great night of racing action with over 90 cars filling the pit area. Saturday night was the annual kids trick or treat event at the speedway also. All of the young race fans flood the speedway in their costumes to collect treats from their favorite race car drivers and their cars. Afterwards the track holds a costume contest where the fans vote, by applause, for their favorite costume. The winner in the 3-6 year old division was Kayden Koehl in his Buzz Lightyear costume, and the winner in the 7-12 year old division was Abby Dyer in her Danica Patrick costume.

Once the races got down to business, the action heated up. Headlining the nights race card was the 2^nd annual Robert Aaron Memorial 50 lap figure 8 event. This years field was 20 cars strong for 100 trips through the intersection. Luck of the draw would put Benny Harris (99) on the pole with David Ross (33) along side. Harris would take early control of the race, but an early race incident would send him to the rear under the caution. This would give 2012 Pro Figure 8 champion Joey Catarelli (6) the break he needed, sending him to the top position. The race was exciting from start to finish with 3 separate intersection collisions. Two of those incidents involved the 1^st and 2^nd place cars of Catarelli and Eric Sharrone (32) while trying to navigate lapped traffic. Catarelli would continue, while Sharrone would have to pit late for a flat tire. Catarelli would prove why he was the champion, cruising home to the victory. The victory was made even more special by the fact the Catarelli pilots the Aaron families racer, formally driven by the late Robert Aaron, for whom the race is named. The familiar yellow number 6 seemed to have a copilot all night while weaving through the intersection and lapped traffic. Coming home 2^nd was Michael Cherry (17) and Harris in 3^rd after rebounding from his trip to the rear early on. (more…)

14-Year-Old Kyle Benjamin Wins Wild Watermelon 100 & Scores 2012 ARCA/CRA Super Series Southern Tour Championship

Cordele, Georgia (Saturday, October 27^th, 2012): 14-year-old Kyle Benjamin, just a week away from his 15^th birthday (November 3^rd) picked up the thrilling victory in the Watermelon 100 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia on October 27^th and in doing so, he also clinched the 2012 ARCA/CRA Super Series Southern Tour Championship to become the youngest driver in CRA History to Win a Title!

“I can’t believe this! Especially after spinning out just a couple of laps in the race and then to watch those guys in front of me battle like they were. To be standing here in victory lane and to win the Championship, this is unreal!” The driver of the #71 Benjamin Motorsports / Ford excitedly exclaimed in victory lane. “After what we’ve gone through over the past two weeks, tonight was all about redemption and this whole team never gave up and here we are.” He added.

Earlier this season, the Easley, South Carolina teenager became the youngest driver in ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance History to Win an event in each of the premier tours within Champion Racing Association (CRA) when he took the checkered flag at Winchester (IN) Speedway in Winchester, Indiana in a JEGS/CRA race, the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com on May 6^th and then at Lucas Oil (IN) Raceway in the Fatheadz 100 Presented by Team Construction for the ARCA/CRA Super Series race on July 27^th. McFall returns with a big WIN at the Punta Gorda Speedway

Punta Gorda Speedway has not been able to race two weekends in a row since June because of the parking lot problems, until last night. Last night, made two weeks in a row the fans and kids were able to enjoy a full night of racing action and a fun, filled night of trick or treat for the kids. Every year the amount of kids to come out, dressed in all sorts of costumes grows and last night was an endless line of
Trick or Treaters that left with bags full of treats from the drivers. If you missed last night you missed some of the best racing action in the state and some of the most fun for the kids.
The features started off with the Legend cars that saw the 00 of Darin Cooker from Palm Beach Gardens jump out to and early lead. Becca Monopoli of Lakeland was in a distant second trying to chase Cooker down till o the only caution came out at half way for the muffler flying off the 55 car. Running in third was Chase Fitzgerald till five to go, when the car shut down coming down the front stretch and ended his night giving the third spot over to Mike Verhaagh of Ft Myers and that would be how they finished.
Open Wheel Modifieds were up next and the line up was inverted from their heat race that put Scott McDaniel of Cape Coral on the pole. The green flag dropped and good hard racing out of turn four before one lap was in the books, it looked like three wide down the front. Three wide did work and cars got together and bounced off and on top of each other and when the smoke cleared Johnny Allen, Eric Rudd and points leader all had to be towed off the track and not able to continue. Speedway owner went to the four drivers left on the track and they all agreed to make it a fifteen lap dash for the cash. Johnny Allen was able to return and the drivers were lined up with McDaniel on the poll and L.B. Skaggs out side. What a show by the front two then another caution with one to go. Lines back up it was side by side, petal to the metal all the way around the track and it was Scott McDaniel who crossed the line first with Skaggs second and John Rogers from Naples third.
You can always bet tempers will flare when the Cowboy Cadillacs hit the track and last night was no different. It was Jeff Deeble of Port Charlotte that took the lead on lap one and with two to go got spun by a lap truck that brought out the caution. Deeble back in his spot and Mike Bialecki outside, the green flag dropped for a green white checker finish. Bialecki got by Deeble, who’s truck wasn’t the same after the spin, with John Pummell Jr second and Rick Mills third. (more…)

No Roof? No Problems!

Jim Rouse, 10-27-12 (Ocala, FL) – The Twisted Tea Top Gun Sprint Cars took the wings off and the RaceCar Engineering Late Models went topless! Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators joined them for an amazing night. Of course, the Trick-Or-Treating and Costume Contest at Intermission was the highlight for many people!

First up were Hobby Stocks and under the pace laps Bubba put it to Trevor Gamble and Rodney Wright: “Come from the back (and win) and I’ll give you an extra $100.” Both accepted the offer. Those 2 starting outside the top 15 allowed pole sitter Devin Walker to lead lap 1. On lap 9 Glenn Baum lost a wheel which would set the restart up like this- Walker, Wright, Gamble. Walt Kahrs set up a G-W-C after he spun out of turn 4 but the order was still the same. Devin Walker held on to play championship spoiler with Gamble bettering his rival Wright. Marty Smith finished 4^th with Mark Maresca rounding out the top 5. JD with City Electric Supply put up $200 for the winner and Bubba split the $100 and gave Wright and Gamble each $50 for putting on a wonderful show.

Bo Allen would lead from pole as the RaceCar Engineering Late Models went lids off before Mark Whitener passed him on lap 6. The field slowed on lap 10 when Austin Dowling spun out of turn 4; Whitener, Allen, and Christian Augspurger made up the top-3. Whitener would not relinquish that lead as he took home a big win over Christian Augspurger in a 1-2 for Barry Wright chassis. Bo Allen and JO Nobles would finish 3^rd and 4^th, respectively, with the Bubba Army Performance Engines, and Bryan Bernhardt rounded out the top 5. (more…)

Saturday Night, Auburndale Speedway was the place to be for good family entertainment. It was the night of Crash-A-Rama. Crashing is what they did. Top Gun Sprints Race Report 10-20-12

The Top Gun Sprints made their second visit of 2012 to North Florida Speedway on Saturday October 20, 2012. There were 14 cars at the track to give fans two heat races and a 25 lap feature race.

Shawn Murray in the 22 car had the pole with Tony Agin in the 38 on the outside for the start of the SCORPION heat race. Shawn took the lead on the start, and then it was Robbie Smith went around and took the win. The 3A of AJ Maddox had the pole for the SHOCK DYNO heat race, with Darren Orth in the 34 car on the outside. On the start A J took the lead on the start, and then it was Mark Ruel Jr. went around and never looked back and took the win. The 22 of Shawn Murray had the pole for the start of the SIMPSON feature race event, with the 92 of Matt Kurtz alongside. On the start Matt took the lead and the checkered flag, followed by Danny Martin in the 82 car, Mark Ruel Jr. in the 83 car, Shawn Murray in the 22 car and Robbie Smith in the 6S car rounding out the top 5.

Joyce Recognized for Volunteer Work, Special Guest at the Monmouth County (N.J.) SPCA Halloween Party

MOORESVILLE, NC (October 25, 2012) – Cory Joyce, driver of the No. 20 Ultimate Turf Chevrolet in the United Auto Racing Association (UARA) STARS Series, will utilize the last off-weekend of the 2012 season to do a little charity work and help promote National Adopt a Shelter Dog month at the Monmouth County (N.J.) SPCA Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 27. Joyce will kick off the day with a tour of the Monmouth County Shelter & Clinic, before signing autographs and meeting guests when the shelter opens at 12 p.m. Eastern time. Additionally, Joyce will also be the guest judge for the annual Halloween party and kids costume contest.

“I’m really excited that the Monmouth County SPCA invited me to participate in their Halloween Party & Kids Costume Contest,” commented Joyce. “It’s pretty cool that they noticed the work I’ve done for the humane society, and realized how much I enjoy helping animals find homes. Hopefully we have a lot of people will show up on Saturday, realize all the love these animals have to offer and take one home for themselves.”

“The Monmouth County SPCA is proud to host Cory Joyce for this special event,” said Perri Blind, volunteer and community outreach coordinator for the MCSPCA. “He’s a great supporter of the animals, and we are excited to have him to help judge the kids costume contest.” (more…)
