MOORESVILLE, NC (October 25, 2012) – Cory Joyce, driver of the No. 20 Ultimate Turf Chevrolet in the United Auto Racing Association (UARA) STARS Series, will utilize the last off-weekend of the 2012 season to do a little charity work and help promote National Adopt a Shelter Dog month at the Monmouth County (N.J.) SPCA Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 27.  Joyce will kick off the day with a tour of the Monmouth County Shelter & Clinic, before signing autographs and meeting guests when the shelter opens at 12 p.m. Eastern time.  Additionally, Joyce will also be the guest judge for the annual Halloween party and kids costume contest.

“I’m really excited that the Monmouth County SPCA invited me to participate in their Halloween Party & Kids Costume Contest,” commented Joyce.  “It’s pretty cool that they noticed the work I’ve done for the humane society, and realized how much I enjoy helping animals find homes.  Hopefully we have a lot of people will show up on Saturday, realize all the love these animals have to offer and take one home for themselves.”

“The Monmouth County SPCA is proud to host Cory Joyce for this special event,” said Perri Blind, volunteer and community outreach coordinator for the MCSPCA.  “He’s a great supporter of the animals, and we are excited to have him to help judge the kids costume contest.”

Joyce’s interest in helping shelter animals began five years ago when he rescued a female Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull mix, Macy, and brought her home to live with his family.  Since then, Joyce has utilized his platform as a UARA-STARS Series and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series driver to gain recognition for these animals and encourage people to adopt pets.  Heavily involved in the Humane Society of the United States, Joyce also serves as the spokesperson for the North Carolina Shelter Pet Project.

Saturday’s event will be held at the Monmouth County SPCA located at 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.  The shelter will open at 12 p.m. EDT, with the Halloween party kicking off around 1 p.m.  Attendees will be able to enter the costume contest, get autographs and take photos with Joyce, and meet some of the shelter animals available for adoption.  The event will conclude by 5 p.m.

Joyce will back in the No. 20 Ultimate Turf Chevrolet for the UARA-STARS season finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 3.  The weekend will kick off with practice and qualifying followed by a pit party/autograph session on the track’s front stretch on Friday, Nov. 2.  Saturday’s schedule begins with driver introductions for the UARA-STARS Series at 11:30 a.m. followed by the series’ 75-lap season finale.  Next, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will have 100-lap race, followed by a 75-lap race for the Kimmel Street Stock Series.  Grandstand admission is free for Friday’s events, and tickets start at just $20 for Saturday’s races.  Tickets for kids 12 and under are half-price.
