He picks up first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win at Perris since 200220130414-110802.jpg

PERRIS, Calif. – April 13, 2013 – It seemed fitting that the top World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series star collided with the premier Californian, who titles himself the “Outlaw killer.”
Both literally and figuratively, championship points leader Daryn Pittman and reigning King of California Tim Kaeding capped the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series five-week West Coast swing in a head-to-head battle on Saturday in the SoCal Showdown at Perris Auto Speedway.

Pittman and Kaeding, along with Donny Schatz, are the only drivers to record multiple feature victories this season and of course, they were in a heated match to decide the winner on the famed half mile.

20130414-110511.jpg

Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds headlined a 5-division night with the Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, Rent-N-Roll Gladiators, and Florida Mini Sprints that proved to be the best action of the season.

Our very own Hobby Stocks opened the night and Don Woosley jumped to the lead. Woosley had a career night early on but did lose the lead to William Edwards on lap 3. Richard Calmes, Jr., Brian Shea, and Alvin Adkison combined to bring out 5 cautions with solo spins on the night. On lap 6 it was “The Mayo Missile” Devin Walker stealing the lead from Edwards and, after a few solo spins- including a lap 9 spin by Edwards- from the previous 3, Walker held off his father, Heath, for the win. The Walker family- the heat race winners- was followed by Brandon Elwood in the Flintstones Mobile, William Edwards, and Richard Calmes, Jr. (more…)

April 13,, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Six divisions were on hand tonight on another gorgeous night here in the state of Florida at East Bay Raceway Park. Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours, Florida Old Time Modifieds and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were all in action.

First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks as Thomas Burnside and Justan Rodgers won their heats. Then for the feature it was Tim Arnold and Justan Rodgers making up the front row. When the green waved it was Rodgers leading the way until the first caution of the night came out on lap nine as David Barwick, II and Dennis Wilson, Jr got together and tangled up heading into the turn four wall. Barwick was unable to continue as Wilson, Jr. went to the infield and then back to the rear of the field for the restart. Another caution came out on lap twelve as Thomas Burnside spun in turn three. It was a single file restart with three laps remaining with Dennis Williams pressuring Rodgers for the final three laps. (more…)

TRAVIS COPE DESTROYS BRIGHT HOUSE CHALLENGE SLM FIELD AT ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD

20130413-204308.jpgWeek number two of NASCAR Whelan All American Series action saw some outstanding competition on a warm, muggy night as second-generation driver Travis Cope of Weeki Wachee proved dominant in the headline race of the night, the Bright House Challenge 100 for the Super Late Models.
A dozen Super Lates checked in for action with Orlando’s David Rogers, the defending and four-time Bright House Series champion, setting quick time at 13.765 seconds, just ahead of Daniel Keene, Jr.’s 13.782 lap. Rogers pulled the three pill placing third-fast qualifier Dusty Cornelius of Cocoa on the pole for the 100-lap feature race.
Cornelius shot out from his pole slot into a rather substantial early lead as Rogers slipped by Keene but was not able to match the speed of Cornelius. Meanwhile, Travis Cope had moved to third and was putting the pressure on Rogers, eventually getting by the veteran and now having his sights set on the leader. Cope quickly cut the deficit between himself and Cornelius in half, then seemed to back off a bit to save his tires as the race continued under green.

206Chatsworth, Georgia – For the second time in 2 North Georgia Speedway appearances Dale McDowell, of nearby Chickamauga, Georgia, pulled his Team Dillon race car into ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Victory Lane. McDowell, who took the lead from TDR teammate Austin Dillon on lap 2, battled through lap traffic and a late race tangle with David Payne to outlast a hard charging Randy Weaver and score the $4000 winner’s purse. “We had a great car. I was really good when I was by myself but I would get tight when we got to traffic. I tried that top but then the lap guys were so fast up off that bottom they would slide up in front of us. This was our MasterSbilt car and it was really good. The track was a little choppy but nothing really bad. My hats off to Jason and all the folks here at North Georgia for a great event.” McDowell said.32 cars signed in and took timed laps in VP Race Fuels Race for the Pole Time Trials with NASCAR Nationwide Series regular Austin Dillon laying down quick time of the evening as the first car on the speedway.
