REUTIMANN FINISHES 24TH AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

27

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (April 16, 2013) – David Reutimann and the No. 83 Dr. Pepper Toyota team finished 24th at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday night.  Running one of the best cars they have had all season, the team had a competitive race logging laps inside the top 20 before being caught off the lead lap to finish the event in the 24th position.

The 500-mile race at Texas Motor Speedway marked the first Saturday night race of the season, challenging the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competitors with changing track conditions and cooling temperatures as the sun set over the 1.5-mile speedway near Fort Worth, Texas.  Like many teams, the No. 83 Dr. Pepper Toyota team worked closely with their driver, identifying how their car was handling and continually fine-tuning their set up throughout the evening.  For Reutimann, his No. 83 Camry fluctuated between being a bit too tight and a bit too free.  With several rounds of pit stops, the Dr. Pepper team utilized each opportunity to help the balance of their car with slight air pressure adjustments.

Race strategy also played a role in the 500-mile race as many competitors found themselves trapped a lap down to the leader.  After being caught a lap down, the No. 83 Dr. Pepper team took a gamble on their pit strategy during a round of green-flag pit stops.  When the caution flag waved just a few laps later, Reutimann and the team were left in a two lap deficit to the leaders.  At the conclusion of the event, Reutimann was scored in the 24th position.

“Our No. 83 Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry was a really good car this weekend,” commented Reutimann.  “We turned competitive lap times and raced hard for positions.  Our spotter did a great job keeping us out of trouble so we could run the entire race, and the crew did a great job keeping up with adjustments to keep the balance of our car.  We had a lot of guests from Dr. Pepper with us at the track this weekend, and I feel like we were able to put on a good show for them.  I’m really proud of everyone for all their hard work that went into getting ready for the race this weekend.  I’m looking forward to getting to Kansas next week.”  (more…)

Mooresville, NC 4/15/13- Clay Rogers kicked off the 2013 CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series in style winning his thirty-first career race. Now as the series heads into this weekend’s Catawba Valley 250 at the Hickory Motor Speedway, he will have his hands full to make it back-to-back wins as several familiar faces plan to do battle for the time this season. Defending race winner Tyler Young, Joey Jones, and Richard Gould all make their return to series action. Young has produced the best results of the three averaging a third place finish in the two Hickory starts during the 2012 season. In addition to the trio above; Coleman Pressley, son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Robert Pressley, will make his series debut behind the wheel of his family owned #59 machine.

For all drivers entered the biggest challenge will be tire conservation around the .363 mile oval known for its rough abrasive asphalt. Teams will have 250 laps to figure it out, with a competition caution on lap 125, allowing teams to change tires and fuel before going back green. From there fans in attendance will quickly notice action on the track heat up as the final laps approach.

World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars Invading El Paso Speedway Park

At end of highly successful West Coast swing, Outlaws have one last track to invade before heading East20130415-172647.jpgEL PASO, Texas — April 15, 2013 — The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series has been racing through the Western states since early March, and it has one piece of unfinished business on Tuesday night in Texas before it returns to the Midwest.

Since March 6 the hardest working drivers in sprint car racing have taken on all comers at nine tracks in Nevada, Arizona, and California comprising 11 races. Those events have showcased eight different winners. In total, 22 drivers have scored at least one top-five, and that makes this an incredibly competitive swing for the touring series. As a brand new venue for the Outlaws, the 3/8ths-mile, slightly-banked El Paso Speedway Park should provide the same level of competition, which means fans will have no idea of who is likely to win Tuesday night.

Tim Kaeding and Daryn Pittman will certainly be in the mix, however, as they carry over a furious battle from Perris Auto Speedway. Pittman snatched the lead from Kaeding with 12 laps remaining in the SoCal Showdown in a pass that was a little too close for Kaeding’s comfort. (more…)

Brodie Kostecki Becomes First Australian UARA Winner at The Rock

Winner Brodie Kostecki

Rockingham, NC (04/15/13) –Fifteen year-old Brodie Kostecki won his first UARA event Saturday April 13th at Rockingham Speedway. The Australian driver started on the outside pole and grabbed the lead on lap 62. Kostecki is the fifth Australian to compete in the UARA-STARS, but first to win. He was also the first non-American winner at the Rockingham Speedway.

Sunoco Pole winner Clay Rogers had a strong run. For holding on to his first place position for the first 38 laps, Rogers was awarded Tilton’s Most Laps Led. After giving up the lead to Ty Dillon, Rogers settled for a fifth place finish. Dillon led the field for about 23 laps but couldn’t hold off UARA regulars, Kostecki, Ben Rhodes, and Ronnie Bassett, Jr. Dillon came home with a fourth place finish.

Rhodes had his best UARA finish with second place. Recovering from a vibration in practice caused by a damaged rear shock mount, Rhodes qualified 12th. He practiced patience and saved his equipment for the finish, which awarded him Holley Performer of the Race for gaining the most positions during the race.

During the first of two restarts, Devin Jones made a clean and smooth pass by Circle Wheel/ Extreme Trophies Rookie of the Race Tyler Edwards. Edwards missed a shift and Jones squeezed in the middle between him and Brandon Jones for position. This move nominated Devin Jones for Pigwire’s Electrifying Move of the Race. (more…)
