PINE HALL, NC – April 18, 2013 – Jonathan Davenport is arguably the hottest dirt Late Model driver in the Southeast over the past month, but is he hot enough to deal with some of the country’s best touring stars? He’s about to find out.

This Saturday night (April 20) Davenport will enter the 50-lap, $10,000-to-win World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at 311 Motor Speedway, kicking off three consecutive weekends in which the 29-year-old native of Blairsville, Ga., plans to compete with the national tour throughout his home region. For Davenport, it’s the most important stretch of action in his fledgling tenure as a driver for the AES Racing team.

“We’re definitely focusing on the next three weeks,” said Davenport, who owns two career WoO LMS A-Main victories, both at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C. (2010 and ’11 World Finals). “Even though we’ve been running good we haven’t really run too much on the national level yet, so we’re ready to test ourselves. I feel like we’re hitting our stride so hopefully this is a really good time for the Outlaws to come into our area.”

Steve Kinser Earns First 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Win

Experience at El Paso Speedway Park valuable in racing to 575th career victory

20130413-203136.jpgDan Beaver, EL PASO, Texas — April 16, 2013 — Veteran experience dominated the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series debut on Tuesday night at El Paso Speedway Park as Steve Kinser charged to his first victory of the season in the series debut at the West Texas venue.

Tony Stewart Racing teammates Kinser and Donny Schatz owned the front row for the feature, and Kinser never looked back. Kinser, the only touring Outlaw with experience on the 3/8-mile oval, quickly charged to the lead and pulled away while a wild race for second took place behind him. Points-leader Daryn Pittman was able to hold off Craig Dollansky for his 11th top-five finish of the year.

Quick-timer David Gravel and Kraig Kinser rounded out the top five.

“I was worried about everybody,” said Kinser, relieved to finally be in the win column for the 575th time in his World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series career. “The year hadn’t been going that great. It’s just good to get a win. We’ve been struggling to get a win and the whole team needed it.”

The general consensus among racers was that the track was solid and only getting better as the night progressed. “Still, you have to cowboy up,” said Gravel, “and you have to hit very precise marks.” That definitely benefitted Kinser, who has a knack for finding victory lane when the series debuts at a new venue. Day Wins Earlybird 100 Sayre Southern Superstar Event

20130325-221753.jpgJP Stephens, SAYRE, AL–After two rainouts, Mother Nature finally decided to cooperate Saturday as the Southern Superstars enjoyed a perfect day of weather at Sayre. Twelve drivers showed up to start the 2013 season and to see who can knock Mark Day off his championship throne. The 2012 season was the most competitive in series history, with five drivers having a chance to win the points championship during the last race. The 2013 season looks to be even more competitive as the series will also hold races at Huntsville Speedway and Highland Rim Speedway which is located north of Nashville. Brad Lemley, who won three races and took home seven poles, said he will run the whole season as he looks to win the series title. Also new to the series in 2013 is B J Holley from Jackson, Georgia, and J R Bolden of Calera, Alabama.
Before the race, several drivers were recognized for their efforts in 2012. Hunter Spivey was awarded the B J Parker Sportsmanship Trophy which is named after the legendary Southern Superstars founder and long-time race promoter B J Parker. Everybody knows B J Parker’s name in NASCAR and short track racing, and Spivey said it was very humbling to be named the winner of such a special trophy. Spivey also took home another trophy for finishing fourth in the points. Spivey was able to run up front and improve his qualifying efforts the last half of 2012 and has a goal of winning his first SSS race in 2013.

Donald Bradsher “The Hitman” Captures First Career FASTRAK Touring Victory at Friendship Motor Speedway

216Ekin, North Carolina – The FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division made their 1st visit back in 3 years Saturday night to the 4/10th mile Friendship Motor Speedway. Over 30+ “warlords” made the trip to the facility bringing the “sell-out” crowd to their feet for Round #6 of the year and Points Race #3 in the FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division. What a great reunion it was as for the 2nd consecutive weekend in a row it was #93 Burlington, North Carolina’s #93 Rocket of Donald Bradsher would prevail on top as a FASTRAK first time winner.
It started off with daytime conditions in VP Race for the Pole Qualifying. Donald Bradsher set fast time with a speed of 16.212 seconds. The top 8 drivers we’re locked in from Time Trials for the 40 Lap feature paying $2,000 to win. Still in daylight conditions due to the idea from Promoter Les Wooten and Jerry Farley trying to not prolong the night for fans. The 2 Heat races we’re interesting. In B-Main #1 a lot of drivers testified it was like an extra practice session for the field as the race went “clean and green” in RockAuto Heat #1 won by #8 Bellwood, North Carolina’s Ron Parker. In Chevy Performance Heat #2 the story was totally different. Drivers we’re “fighting and clawing” their way around the clay oval going through anybody in their path. The yellow flag waved on many occasions but after the 3rd try at a one lap shootout, #11 David Smith the two-time and Defending FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division Champion went on to win B-Main race #2.
