April 13,, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Six divisions were on hand tonight on another gorgeous night here in the state of Florida at East Bay Raceway Park. Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours, Florida Old Time Modifieds and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were all in action.
First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks as Thomas Burnside and Justan Rodgers won their heats. Then for the feature it was Tim Arnold and Justan Rodgers making up the front row. When the green waved it was Rodgers leading the way until the first caution of the night came out on lap nine as David Barwick, II and Dennis Wilson, Jr got together and tangled up heading into the turn four wall. Barwick was unable to continue as Wilson, Jr. went to the infield and then back to the rear of the field for the restart. Another caution came out on lap twelve as Thomas Burnside spun in turn three. It was a single file restart with three laps remaining with Dennis Williams pressuring Rodgers for the final three laps.
On the final turn it was Williams and Rodgers colliding but Rodgers kept his car straight and went on to win his first feature ever at East Bay. Buck Woodhouse, Tim Arnold, Dennis Williams and Dennis Wilson, Jr. rounded out the top five.
Next were the Florida Old Time Modifieds. Winning their heats were Garry Riccio and Andy Kelly. On the front row for the feature it was Roger Herbach and Bob Fink. Herbach led the first lap until lap two when Jamie Franklin took over the top spot. Then on lap five it was Andy Kelly taking over the lead in the car that won the feature the last time out with David Kelley behind the wheel. Then on lap nine it would be Dan Darnell taking over the lead and going on to Victory Lane. Andy Kelly finished second with Lars Amundsen, Jamie Franklin and Bob Fink rounding out the top five.
Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds were next with Matt Miller and Bobby Dixon winning their heats. It was two time Champion Austin Sanders and Thomas Pratt on the front row for the feature. It was from green to checker with no cautions as Austin Sanders won his second feature of the season with Thomas Pratt finishing second after chasing down Sanders but only to fall short at the finish line. Matt Miller, Bobby Dixon and Tim Gay rounded out the top five.
Up next were the Limited Late Models. Winning their heats were Scotty Williams and Dale Pope. This race had lots of excitement and cautions throughout the race and some technical issues at the end. Dale Pope would lead the entire race but only to fall short with just two laps remaining when on a restart his left rear wheel came off and went farther than he did. That handed the lead over to Roger Crouse with Dalton Myers right behind him. Crouse would cross the line first with Myers second, but neither car would pass tech. So that put your third place car Jason Pope your winner with Jason Russell second and Shane Koperda, Todd Ford and Keven Devrieze rounding out the top five.
Next it was the Outlaw Fours. Stephen Hohlbaugh and Nick Hebrank won their heat races. For the feature it was Billy Howard and Jesse James Foster on the front row who has won the last two features. First caution came out on lap one as Brandon Yates spun in turn two. On lap three Kyle Worden would spin in turn four as Howard was still the leader with Hohlbaugh in second and Foster in third. On lap five Hohlbaugh would take over the top spot and not look back as he went on to win the feature with Foster in second, Zach Amundsen, Billy Howard and Dorsey Strickland rounding out the top five.
The final feature of the night was the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Winning their heats were Dalton Goldhammer, Jimmy Baker and Robert Kissam. For the feature it was Gene Gross and Robert Kissam on the front row. When the green waved it was Kissam leading the first ten laps until Goldhammer took over the lead and never looked back as he went on to win his very first feature. Robert Kissam would finish second as it appeared his left rear wheel was just barely hanging on crossing the line in front of Robert Gullet, Sr., John Moore and Gene Gross rounding out the top five.
