SALINA, Okla. — April 27, 2013 — Craig Dollansky powered to victory Saturday night at Salina Highbanks Speedway for his second World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win of the season.

Dollansky fought off Paul McMahan’s relentless effort through heavy traffic in the 30-lap A-main to remain perfect in Outlaw competition at Salina, where he also won in 2011. Points leader Daryn Pittman was third with Sammy Swindell and Joey Saldana rounding out the top five.

The event was originally scheduled for Friday night but wet weather forced the race to run a day later, when cool temperatures equaled big horsepower as all but one of the competitors qualified under the previous track record. (more…)

Winners And Losers

Jim Rouse, BRP Media, Ocala, FL- Night of a Thousands was once more upon Bubba Raceway Park with the Bubba Army 360 Sprints, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all chasing the cash.

Hobby Stock action was first with Tommy Hill the original leader from outside pole. Grady Christian and Charlie Seroki spun early and kept the field tight enough for Jerome Dipple to lead a lap before spinning the #14 around. Dipple left Devin Walker with the lead but Walker relinquished it back to Hill. Tommy Hill was able to stave the threats from Walker and his team-mate, Scotty Kay, Jr., off to win the cool $1000. Kay made it a 1-2 while Walker settled for 3rd. Walker is now, unofficially, the points leader by a few points over Hunter Gustafson. Brian Hansford and Don Woosley completed the top 5. Gustafson, as well as Dennis Williams and Tim Gay, won their heat races.

(SALEM, Ind.) — When Justin Boston took the checkered flag to win the pole for Sunday’s Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by Crosley Radio, crew chief Billy Venturini immediately started passing out high five’s and handshakes from his seat above the pit box for the 25 team.

Venturini, who won here in 2006 as a driver and has two wins as a crew chief at Salem, was excited for Boston.

20130421-093450.jpgMARYVILLE, TN – April 26, 2013 – Everything fell Shane Clanton’s way on Friday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway.

Taking advantage of an outside pole starting spot and some well-placed caution flags, Fayetteville, Ga.’s Clanton had just enough speed to hold off a late challenge from Steve Casebolt Jr. of Richmond, Ind., and capture the ‘Mountain Outlaw 50.’

Clanton, 37, registered his second victory of the season on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, which made its first visit to Smoky Mountain since 2004. He steered his Kennedy Motorsports Capital Race Car under the checkered flag a scant 0.164 of a second ahead of Casebolt, who overtook Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., for second on a lap-38 restart and kept his Dishman Motorsports MasterSbilt car there to earn a career-best WoO LMS finish.

Owens settled for third in a Team Zero by Bloomquist mount after running in the second spot for laps 10-38. Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., maintained the WoO LMS points lead with a solid fourth-place finish in his father Mark’s Rocket Chassis house car and Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., made a late charge to complete the top five in a Blount Motorsports Rocket fielded by Smoky Mountain co-owner Larry Garner.
