Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Larson to Run Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown
Will Compete in Late Model Race for Lee Faulk Racing
[slideshow id=5]CORNELIUS, N.C. (April 24, 2013) – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Larson will race in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown (DHSTS) at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday, April 25. The two young racers will be competing in the 75-lap event for Lee Faulk Racing.
Stenhouse Jr. will compete in Lee Faulk Racing’s No. 25 Ford, with support from Plan B Sales and AccuDoc Solutions. Although this will be the first time Stenhouse has competed in the DHSTS, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year contender is no stranger to Richmond International Raceway. He has six starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at the .75-mile oval, with one pole and four top-five finishes.
“Denny has been able to raise a lot of money for charity through this race each year, and I’m happy to support him and the causes his foundation supports,” explained Stenhouse. “I enjoy getting to the short tracks each season, and Richmond is always a lot of fun to race, so I expect we’ll have a good time on Thursday night. CAMARGO, Ill. – You can’t blame the drivers of the University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions if they are a little more excited than usual to head back to Central Pennsylvania. It’s no secret the UNOH All Star drivers have struggled against the tough competition of the drivers known as the “PA Posse.” But last fall, current UNOH All Star point leader Dale Blaney gave the series competitors a shot in the arm when he scored a victory against the Posse at Port Royal Speedway.
After a rainout last Friday night that was just a precursor of a very wet weekend in Central Florida, Orlando SpeedWorld is back in action this Friday and the weatherman is promising a Chamber of Commerce forecast this time. It was announced this week that the track is stepping up its effort to attract a bigger field of cars by raising purses providing the race teams Increase their participation. If 15 or more cars are entered, the purse for the top three positions will double for that class. This affects all classes with the exception of Super Late Models, Strictly Stocks and Bandoleros. Providing there are 15 cars entered, the purse for the Modifieds, E-Modifieds and Pro Trucks will increase to $500-320-220 for the top-three finishing spots. The Mini Stock purse for the top three would increase to $400-200-160 and the Super Stocks would see an increase to $300-160-140. The Super Late Model purse will remain the same, plus they will be the class eligible for national and regional points in the NASCAR Whelan All-American Series. 
Mooresville, NC 4/22/13– Clay Rogers edged J.P. Morgan on a green-white-checkered finish Saturday night to score his second CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series win of the season. The win at Hickory was Rogers’ third series win at the track of his career, and moved him into a tie for second with Benny Gordon on the all time wins list with thirty-two. J.P. Morgan looked to be back to his championship form bring home a second place finish followed by Tyler Young who overcame being a lap down early on to finish third.
Hendersonville, NC (04/22/13) –United Auto Racing Association held another successful event at the Rock during the North Carolina Education Lottery Weekend. One of the new ‘STARS’ celebrated in victory lane, while other drivers gained confidence and jumped in the Championship Points standings.
CARTERSVILLE, GA – Jerrod Fremin of Montz, LA remains on top of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings after Week 4 competition. Fremin has 167 points after one win and four top five finishes in four starts. Fremin had a second-place finish on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA driving the Fremin Racing Chevrolet.
MINERAL WELLS, WV (April 21, 2013) – Eddie Carrier Jr. finally claims his first ever win at West Virginia Motor Speedway, by winning tonight’s event. Carrier took the lead from Brian Birkhofer on lap 33 and held off Josh Richards for his fourth career LOLMDS win. Richards, who brought out the first caution of the race with one lap scored, charged through the field to finish second. Don O’Neal came home third followed by Birkhofer and 13th starting, Jimmy Owens.
Carol Andrews – Saturday Night at Auburndale Speedway was like a family reunion, I got to see people that I haven’t seen for years from down South. The 6th Annual Billy Harvey Memorial 100 Lap Late Model was the main event of the night.We had a threat of rain which is probably the reason for the low car count, but over all it was a good night of entertainment for the racing families that came out to enjoy some of the best Late Model Drivers compete.
