Wow Season To Continue At 5 Flags With Modified Mania

at

From Tim Bryant, Five Flags Speedway Media

Pensacola, FL -April 5, 2011- WOW! That’s the only word we can think of, when we think back to opening night at 5 Flags Speedway. The atmosphere was electric as the 2011 Season began with a bang. (literally) For the first time ever, we came out of the gate with the opening round of the Blizzard Series, the Pepsi Max 100 to be exact. And the stellar field, consisting of a host of the nation’s finest drivers, did not disappoint the large opening night crowd. When it was over, Senoia, Georgia, driver Bubba Pollard found his way to Victory Lane, the first half of a weekend sweep that found him winning the Miller Lite 100 at Mobile International Speedway on Saturday Night as well. by BJ Cavin- VSP Media

BARBERVILLE, FL- Sprint car fans will get to enjoy the first of many scheduled nights of racing this season on the world’s fastest half mile as Saturday night at Volusia Speedway Park will be highlighted by the region’s top sprint car teams.  The non series event is sponsored by Daytona Harley-Davidson and is expected to draw as many as 40 regional teams to Barberville.  In addition, the Florida Mini Sprint Association will be on hand for their first race at VSP in 2011, and fans will also see plenty of racing action from five divisions of VSP’s weekly racers.

The festivities will begin early this Friday night with a special pre race party featuring racers and fans at Saints & Sinners, located at Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona.  The 6:30PM party is open to everyone, and will serve as a warm up to the scheduled sprint car madness that will happen the following night at the track. Adam Bedenbaugh Cruises to UDLMCS Win At North Florida Speedway

By Jeff Bean, NFS Media

Lake City Fl., Adam Bedenbaugh of Lake City took the checkers in the UDLMCS Battle At The Border Saturday night at North Florida Speedway. Also capturing wins were Jody Turner In Sportsman, Chris Shea in Pure Stock, Shane Taylor in Limited Modifieds and Jon Brown in Box Stock.

The first feature of the evening was the Sportsman Division which saw Heath Walker and Jody Turner bring the field to green. An opening lap incident in turn one would slow the early action and force a complete restart. Once the race was able to resume Turner would work his way to the front and most of the action was behind him. Wayne O’Neal would apply the pressure from second but Turner survived several restarts to hold on for his first victory of the 2011 season. O’Neal and Brandon Catto would follow the 2010 Sportsman champion to the line after a last ditch effort by Kevin Davis to claim third resulted in Davis spinning in turn four coming to the checkered flag. Mini Stocks Added To Friday Ocala Schedule

By BJ Cavin- Ocala Speedway Media

OCALA, FL- After days of torrential rain left Ocala Speedway a muddy mess and washed out the first night of points racing in 2011, it will be try, try again this Friday, April 8th.  Included on the schedule will be the Late Models, the Hobby Stocks, The Amsoil Thunder Stocks, the Mini Stocks, and the Gladiators.  This will be the last Friday of regular racing before the Monster Trucks invade Ocala Speedway the following week.

Thanks to the interference of Mother Nature, Ocala Speedway’s Late Models have seen virtually no action this season except for a few determined racers that participated in some special events.  Of those drivers, Christian Augspurger is the only regular Ocala weekly Late Model racer who has been racing at the track, as Tyler Ivey and Ivedent Lloyd do not compete in the regular season points race on a weekly basis.  But defending Late Model Champion Mark Whitener got in some fast practice laps over a month ago, and he will be the odds on favorite to win come Friday night.
