25th Annual Budweiser/Joe Lee Johnson Gobbler Set For November 16th At Cleveland Speedway

SAS LogoFAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will make its final stop of the year Saturday night November 16th at the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN., for the 25th Annual Budweiser/Joe Lee Johnson Gobbler.  A 50 lap $5,000 to win $300 to start event.

Three time Southern All Star Champion Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN., is the defending winner of the Gobbler and will be one of the drivers to beat as he as picked up three wins with the series this year.  Current point’s leader Riley of Ooltewah, TN., will also be on to watch to grab his first win of the season with the series along with the current Cruise With The Champions rookie of the yea r leader Bret Holmes of Munford, AL., as he will also be looking for his first win of the season.

23rd Annual Blue/Gray 100 SAS Cherokee Speedway November 17th

SAS LogoFAYETTEVILLE, TN—After the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series finishes the 2013 season at Cleveland Speedway, the series will head to the final race of the series for the season on Sunday afternoon November 17th at the Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC., for the 23rd Annual Blue/Gray 100 that will pay $10,000 to win and will also have the crowning of the 2103 Southern All Stars Series Champion as well as the 2013 Cruise with the Champions/Dirt On Dirt rookie of the Year.

The series will be making it’s second visit of the season to Cherokee as in years past it has opened up and closed up at Cherokee and in March of this year Jared Landers took home the $10,000 in March Madness.  In the Blue/Gray last year it was Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN., who took the win and will also be in action to defend his title from last year.

Billy Ogle, Jr. Best in SAS Racing Series Buddy Rogers Memorial at Tazewell Speedway

taz4Tazewell, TN-September 1, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series kicked off a busy month of September on Sunday evening at Gary Hall’s Tazewell Speedway with the 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial event and Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN would take the victory and $4,400 payday in the 44 lap main event contested in memory of the former East Tennessee racer.  The win for Ogle, Jr. came aboard the Blount Motorsports owned Blount Excavating/Massey Electric/Al Blankenship Enterprises/Cherokee Millwright/Stowers CAT sponsored #201 Rocket Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine.

The victory by the former series champion was his third Southern All Star Racing Series victory of 2013 and 11th overall for his career in SAS Racing Series competition.  Ogles, Jr.’s previous wins this season have come at Tazewell in April and Volunteer Speedway in August. (more…)

Ray Cook Wins Night Two of SAS Racing Series Georgia Madness at Needmore Speedway

Ray CookNorman Park, GA-August 10, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series made its first-ever appearance at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA on Saturdayevening to complete the SAS Racing Series Georgia Madness weekend doubleheader and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC would score the $4,000 victory aboard his A Plus Moving and Storage/Walker Trucking/Keyser Manufacturing/PPM Racing Products/VP Racing Fuel sponsored #53 MasterSbilt Race Car which is powered by a Jay Dickens Race Engine.

The victory by the 42 year old Cook was his second Southern All Star Racing Series victory of 2013 and 12th overall for his career in SAS Racing Series competition.  Cook’s previous win this season came in July at Cleveland Speedway.

Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. of Ocala, FL and Ray Cook would bring the field to the green flag in the 40 lap main event that would be slowed by only one caution on lap 2.  Cook would jump to the race lead immediately and build a comfortable lead throughout the middle portions of the event, but Lloyd would mount a late race charge over the final few circuits of the contest, but would come up short and take runner-up honors for the second straight event.  William Thomas of Phenix City, AL would take the checkered flag in the third position, while series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN and Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL would complete the top five in the final rundown. Casey Barrow Captures Night One of SAS Racing Series Georgia Madness at Albany Motor Speedway

Albany, GA-August 9, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series made its first-ever appearance at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA on Friday evening for the first night of the SAS Racing Series Georgia Madness weekend doubleheader and Casey Barrow of Savannah, GA would pick up the win in his Carolina Performance/Custom Paint and Body/Thomas Clarke Performance sponsored #98  MasterSbilt Race Car, powered by a Clements Race Engine.

The victory for Barrow, 26 years of age, was the second Southern All Star Racing Series victory of his career, with his previous series victory coming in November of 2009 at Sylvania, GA.   Barrow’s victory made him the tenth different winner with the Southern All Star Racing Series through fourteen events so far in 2013.         (more…)

SAS LogoFayetteville, TN- August 4, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series will visit a pair of new venues for the tour with the Georgia Madness doubleheader weekend at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA on Friday August 9 and Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA on Saturday August 10.  Both events will be 40 laps in distance and pay the winner $4,000 for their efforts and pay $300 to start at each event.

The Southern All Star Racing Series event at Albany Motor Speedway on Friday August 9 will feature a complete program of practice, WhitePerformance.com A-B Group Time Trials, PPM Racing Products Last Chance Showdowns, and will conclude with the 40 lap, $4,000 to win Georgia Madness A-Main.  Support divisions set to join the Southern All Star Racing Series in action at Albany Motor Speedway on Friday August 9 will be the track’s Limited Late Model and Enduro divisions.  Albany Motor Speedway will also have an open practice for all competitors on Thursday evening August 8 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and all drivers are invited.  Also, all Super Late Models in competition at Albany Motor Speedway on Friday August 9 must be equipped with mufflers per track rules.

Billy Ogle, Jr. Bags SAS Racing Series Collins/Ledford Memorial at Volunteer Speedway

Bulls Gap, TN-August 3, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series would makes its second visit of the 2013 season to Volunteer Speedway on Saturday evening for the Herman Collins/Dewey “Red” Ledford Memorial event and Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN would score the win in a thrilling event.  Ogle, Jr. would pick up the victory in the Larry Garner owned Blount Motorsports/Blount Excavating/ Massey Electric/Al Blankenship Enterprises/Stowers CAT Machinery/Cherokee Millwright sponsored #201 Rocket Chassis which sports a Vic Hill Race Engine beneath the hood.

The victory by Ogle, Jr., 48 years of age, was his second Southern All Star Racing Series victory of the 2013 season and his tenth career win with the Southern All Star Racing Series, who owns the 2011 SAS Racing Series championship.

Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN would jump to the lead at the start of the event and set a blistering pace, although the event would be slowed by three caution periods during the first 13 laps of the contest.  Ogle, Jr. would settle into the second position after the lap 13 restart and he and Hill would pull away from the rest of the pack, which would be led by third place running Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN.  As the front pair caught a group of heavy traffic by lap 26, Ogle, Jr. would close in on Hill and the pair would engage in a classic side-by-side struggle for the lead beginning on lap 30 and ending on lap 34 when Ogle, Jr. secured the lead for good. Southern Superstars Return To Sayre Speedway Saturday Night August 3rd For B J Parker Memorial Cancer Awareness Event

William ThomasSAYRE, AL—The Southern Superstars Short Track Series will be back in action on Saturday night August 3rd for the B J Parker Cancer Awareness race that will feature a 100 lap for the super late models along with a full racing program for the local classes at Sayre Speedway.

The victory by Wall marked his second career win with the Southern All Star Racing Series, as his previous lone SAS triumph came in 2009, also at “The Mag”.  Wall’s victory also made him the eighth different winner in eleven Southern All Star Racing Series events that have been contested so far in 2013.
It would be an all Mississippi front-row as Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS and Klint Byars of Calhoun City, MS would bring the bring to the green flag, with Byars jumping to the early lead and holding the top position after a spirited battle with Cooley until Cooley would drive past Byars to grab the top position around the midpoint of the 40 lap contest.
