Ray CookNorman Park, GA-August 10, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series made its first-ever appearance at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA on Saturdayevening to complete the SAS Racing Series Georgia Madness weekend doubleheader and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC would score the $4,000 victory aboard his A Plus Moving and Storage/Walker Trucking/Keyser Manufacturing/PPM Racing Products/VP Racing Fuel sponsored #53 MasterSbilt Race Car which is powered by a Jay Dickens Race Engine.

The victory by the 42 year old Cook was his second Southern All Star Racing Series victory of 2013 and 12th overall for his career in SAS Racing Series competition.  Cook’s previous win this season came in July at Cleveland Speedway.

Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. of Ocala, FL and Ray Cook would bring the field to the green flag in the 40 lap main event that would be slowed by only one caution on lap 2.  Cook would jump to the race lead immediately and build a comfortable lead throughout the middle portions of the event, but Lloyd would mount a late race charge over the final few circuits of the contest, but would come up short and take runner-up honors for the second straight event.  William Thomas of Phenix City, AL would take the checkered flag in the third position, while series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN and Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL would complete the top five in the final rundown.

The remainder of the top ten finishers in the Georgia Madness Night Two event would be Jordy Nipper of Gray, GA, Bret Holmes of Munford, AL, Kelly Walker of Moultrie, GA, Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN, and Russell Brown of Valdosta, GA.

The next Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series event is on Saturday August 17 at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN.  The event is the annual Budweiser Jean Johnson Memorial contest and will pay $4,000 to win and $300 to start.
