JR Garcia Dominates Pro Truck Race at Bronson Speedway

RobertKorsonBronson Speedway, May 10, 2014: Bronson Speedway’s track announcer said it best, “race fans, get ready to see the state’s best Pro Truck drivers…” OK, so not all were there, but four of the state’s best Pro Truck drivers in JR Garcia, Mica Williams, Jessica Murphy and Steven King where there to show their support for the Series and Bronson’s local oval race track.  The Pro Truck Series considers Bronson’s three-eighths-mile, high-bank asphalt oval track to be a hidden gem, and it is apparent that this small town race track is making every effort to support their drivers and traveling series.  Many of Saturday night’s drivers share the same opinion in that the track is fun to race on and more drivers should make the trip to show their support.  Although the Pro Truck count was less than expected, the track and Series still delivered on the guaranteed payout while giving the teams a break on the number of race laps.

Billy Ogle Jr Dominates Ricking With the Stars Smoky Mt Southern All Star Event

SAS LogoMARYVILLE, TN—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series returned to the Smoky Mt Speedway in Maryville, TN., Saturday night and local favorite Billy Ogle Jr of Knoxville, TN., put on dominating performance for the night as he sat fast time in White Performance qualifying and then lead 39 of the 40 lap event en route to the $5,000 to win paycheck.

Ogle along with outside pole sitter Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC., brought the field to the green for the initial start of the race, but as the field headed down the backstretch, midway through the field in turn three the cars of Tommy Kerr and Josh Putnam got together with Putnam cutting across the infield through the go kart track and Kerr flipping his car over.  Putnam was able to continue but Kerr was done for the night.

The next start saw Cook get a slight jump ahead of Ogle on the start and Cook lead lap one but Ogle moved under him in turns one and two and then proceeded to stay up front and work lapped traffic with ease to get his 12th career series win.  Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN., came home in second spot, who made a late race charge from his ninth starting spot to get by Cook, who fell back to third and blew a tire as he came across the finish line, fourth place went to point leader Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, TN., and fifth place was Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL., in his best career finish with the series. Enfinger conquers Salem; takes first three wins of ARCA season

arca-logo-2010(SALEM, Ind.) – Grant Enfinger made ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards history Sunday afternoon, winning his third race to start the 2014 season, becoming just the second driver in series history to do so.

“The stars are just lining up for us,” Enfinger said. “It’s pretty unbelievable.”

After leading the first 100 laps of the Federated Auto Parts 200 presented by Crunch’N Nutter at Salem, Enfinger moved back to the front late in the race and took the lead when Ken Schrader hit the wall in turn one on the last re-start. Schrader was leading when the re-start began with Enfinger in second.

“I wanted the chance to drag race him to the finish,” Enfinger said. “I think he just blew a right front there. That’s what happened. It was a lot of fun racing up front against him.”

Spencer Gallagher finished second, Frank Kimmel third and Cunningham Motorsports drivers Austin Wayne Self (fourth) and Tom Hessert (fifth) rounded out the top five. (more…)
