Pennsylvania Oval’s Top Winner Ready To Challenge National Stars On Home Turf

SELINSGROVE, PA – Aug. 24, 2012 – No one is more excited about the first-ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at Selinsgrove Speedway this Sunday night (Aug. 26) than Jeff Rine.

The historic track’s most prolific dirt Late Model winner has, after all, been waiting a long time to challenge a national tour’s superstar drivers on his home turf.

“We’ve gone to other tracks to run World of Outlaws shows over the years,” said Rine, 35, of Danville, Pa. “It’s gonna be real neat to have the Outlaws come to our track and see what we can do.”

A winner of seven points championships – including the last five in a row – and a record 77 career dirt Late Model features at Selinsgrove, Rine would love to reach Victory Lane in the richest dirt Late Model race ever contested at the sprawling half-mile oval. He knows capturing the 50-lap headliner’s $10,000 top prize will be an extremely difficult task, however. (more…)

CALE GALE’S NIGHT CUT SHORT AFTER EARNING FIRST CAREER POLE AT BRISTOL

Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team had a day full of ups and downs on Wednesday at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway (“World’s Fastest Half-Mile”).  The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender nabbed his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) pole to lead the field to the green, but finished the race with a trip to the infield care center after making hard contact with the inside wall with just seven laps remaining.

With a fast truck, Gale paced most of the opening practice session and posted speeds inside the top 10 throughout final practice on Wednesday afternoon.  A few hours later, Gale strapped in the truck and ran a 15.656-second lap-his quickest of the day-to secure the pole position at the World’s Fastest Half-Mile.

Wednesday’s NCWTS event was the debut of a new track configuration at Bristol Motor Speedway where the upper groove was removed.  As a result, passing became more challenging than it had been in years past.  Gale decided to lead the field to the green from the outside line, but when the No. 17 truck got a good jump off the start, Gale quickly settled into the second position. ARCA, Southern Illinois 100 at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Turn 60 Together

Renowned Stock Car Tour Takes Ferocious Title Fight to Magic Mile Dirt

(TOLEDO, Ohio) – Two major league milestones will meet in the small, sleepy southern Illinois town of DuQuoin Labor Day weekend.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, celebrating its 60th Anniversary Season in 2012, is steering for the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds “Magic Mile” dirt, where the 60th running of the Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care comes alive Labor Day Monday, September 3.

The momentous meeting will take shape alongside the 90th annual DuQuoin State Fair.

Fittingly, much of ARCA’s rich history played out on dirt tracks across America. In fact, the 2012 Southern Illinois 100 marks the 347th ARCA race on dirt since the series’ inception in 1953.

“The Illinois State Fair mile dirt venues are vitally important to the character and identity of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “It’s a conscious effort on our part to continue to recognize the role non-pavement tracks played in the development of our series, and motorsports as a whole, and the role dirt racing continues to play today.” (more…)

ASA MEMBER TRACK STANDINGS FACTOR INTO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Wednesday, August 22, 2012) – The old adage that you must win the battle in order to win the war could best describe the ASA Member Track National Championship.  Right now, many of the contenders at the ASA sanctioned tracks are trying to position themselves not only to win the track championship but also to have a chance at being the fifth ASA Member Track National Champion.

In order for a driver to win the ASA Member Track National Champion, not only do they have to be an ASA member in good standing, they must also capture their 2012 track championship.  Some contenders are in a position where they can look at the national picture while others need to focus on what is happening at the track.
