DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Thursday, March 6, 2013) – Skagit Speedway is gearing up for their 2013 racing season. Once again, they will be racing under the ASA Member Track banner.

Skagit’s 59th season will open on Saturday, April 20 with a full racing program featuring the 410 Sprints, 360 Sprints, Sportsman Sprints and Outlaw Hornets.

Every year, Steve Beitler, Skagit Speedway Promoter, and his staff try to make an improvement to the facility. This season, their focus is more on the fan experience. They are creating a unique fan zone in the infield where fans can upgrade to a pit pass and enjoy the racing action from the infield as well as get an inside look at the teams working in the pits.

Along with their weekly Saturday night program, they will be hosting some well-known events this season.

On Saturday, May 11, Skagit Speedway will host the first ever Summer Thunder Series featuring the 360 Sprint cars. Top drivers from the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada will compete in a four round series. (more…)

LANCE GATLIN TAKES ASA MEMBER TRACK EAST REGION CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY SPEEDNETDIRECT.COM

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Wednesday, October 10, 2012) – Lance Gatlin was a contender all season long for the ASA Member Track National Championship.  He was going toe-to-toe with Shelby Stroebel as he won the first nine feature events of the season at Lonesome Pine Raceway, an ASA Member Track in Coeburn, VA.  He finished second overall in the standings and won the East Region Championship presented by SpeedNetDirect.com.

“It was a great season, probably the best season I have ever had as far as my racing career goes,” Gatlin said when he found out that he was the East Region Champion. “I really can’t complain with ten wins.”

Gatlin ended the 2012 season with a national average of 4.9374.  He had ten feature wins, 12 top-five and 14 top-ten finishes at the 3/8-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

“I love the racetrack, it definitely fits my driving style. This is the type of track where you have to race the track and not the drivers, or the track will beat you,” Gatlin said about Lonesome Pine Raceway. “I enjoy racing up there. The competitors I race against are a good group of drivers. We can run side-by-side for many laps and not worry about taking one another out. It has been fun overall and it was a good season.” (more…)

ASA MEMBER TRACK STANDINGS FACTOR INTO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Wednesday, August 22, 2012) – The old adage that you must win the battle in order to win the war could best describe the ASA Member Track National Championship.  Right now, many of the contenders at the ASA sanctioned tracks are trying to position themselves not only to win the track championship but also to have a chance at being the fifth ASA Member Track National Champion.

In order for a driver to win the ASA Member Track National Champion, not only do they have to be an ASA member in good standing, they must also capture their 2012 track championship.  Some contenders are in a position where they can look at the national picture while others need to focus on what is happening at the track.
