Cale Gale & ESR Debut New Scheme at Atlanta

• Ruud on board… Cale Gale will debut a new paint scheme on the No. 33 Chevrolet this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway to showcase Ruud–a division of Rheem. Known for their reliability, which will be showcased on the truck with the tagline “Rely on Ruud,” Ruud produces products in the heating, cooling, and water heating categories. Gale will also pilot the No. 33 Ruud Chevrolet later this season at Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway.

• First time in a Truck at Atlanta… Cale Gale will compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the first time in his career on Friday, August 31st. Gale has one previous NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at the 1.5-mile oval in March 2008 when he started in the 15th position and crossed the finish line in 20th place. (more…)

NeSMITH CHEVROLET DIRT LATE MODEL SERIES ADJUSTS WHYNOT RACE

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division race scheduled for this weekend at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS has been adjusted to be the one-day $2,500-to-win 7th Annual Coca-Cola 50 this Saturday night.  The $2,000-to-win Black Ice 40 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS remains on the schedule for Sunday night.

The Whynot Motorsports Park race was changed from a two-day $5,000-to-win 75-lap race to a one-day $2,500-to-win race on Saturday night due to forecasted heavy rain from Hurricane Isaac that made landfall on Tuesday night near New Orleans.  The storm system is forecasted to leave the area by Thursday. Southern All Stars ready for return trip to ‘Bad Fast’ Tazewell on Sunday September 2nd

Buddy Rogers Memorial 44 Visit Marks First Trip by SAS to ‘The Taz’ Since ‘06

HUNTSVILLE, AL (August 26, 2012)—For the first time since June of 2006, the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will make an appearance to the ‘Bad Fast’ Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the Fourth annual running of the Buddy Rogers Memorial, a Labor Day Holiday Weekend Classic on Sunday Night September 2nd.

This will mark the 14th appearance ever by the Alabama based SAS organization to Tazewell Speedway. The SAS first appeared on the Tazewell schedule in May of 1997 with Scott Sexton of Pigeon Forge, TN claiming the event win. The series would run the high banks annually through 2006. When the SAS last visited Tazewell, Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC claimed the event win. Among winners of SAS at Tazewell, that list includes: Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN (twice); Duayne Hommel of Newport, TN (twice); Scott Sexton (twice) and single victories by Skip Arp, Billy Ogle Jr., Mike Head, Chris Madden, Steve Smith, John Thompson and three time SAS Champ Ronnie Johnson. Entries Out for 24th Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway

(TOLEDO, Ohio) – Entry blanks are out this week for the 24th running of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200, set for Saturday, September 29 at Toledo Speedway. A rain date of Sunday, September 30 has been established, if needed. 1972 Glass City 200 winner Danny Byrd has been named Grand Marshal for the 2012 edition of the classic.

Great Lakes Helicopter is entering its third season as the title sponsor of this prestigious event. The night of racing carries a purse of over $50,000 in cash and awards, with $5500 going to the winner. $1000 has been posted to start the 200 lap race, which will see a 20 minute break at the lap 101 mark. With prize money and special awards, a driver could walk away with over $8000 in cash and contingency awards. (more…)

Nebraska State Championships Friday at Beatrice Speedway

BEATRICE, Neb. (Aug. 28) – Five IMCA divisions are on the Fri­day, Aug. 31 Nebraska State Champion­ships card at Be­atrice Speedway.

IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a mini­mum of $200 to start their 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invita­tional ballot qualifier. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are in the running for $500 to win and a mini­mum of $75 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase a $400 top prize and $50 to start. Godwin Continues to Roll with Win at North Florida Speedway

The Top Gun Sprints made their first visit of 2012 to North Florida Speedway on Saturday August 25, 2012. There were 17 cars at the track to give fans three heat races and a 25 lap feature race. Scott Anderson in the 47 car had the pole with Tyler Godwin in the 38T on the outside for the start of the BLISTEIN heat race. Tyler took the lead on the start and the win. The 3A of AJ Maddox had the pole for the BROWN MILLER heat race, with Tim Grubaugh in the 5 car on the outside. On the start AJ took the lead and never looked back and took the win. Mark Ruel Jr. in the 83 car had the pole with Danny Martin in the 82 for the start of the DMI heat race. On the start Mark and Danny got together and Danny was finished for the heat. That moved Ryan Partin to front row, on the restart Ryan took the lead and the heat win. (more…)

JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Owosso Speedway on Saturday

Salem, IN (August 28, 2012) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will head back to Michigan for the Big O Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Owosso Speedway located in Ovid, Michigan this Saturday, September 1st. Saturday’s race at the 3/8’s mile progressively banked oval will be the 12th race in the 14 race 2012 schedule for the template bodied crate motor late model series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association.

All the top JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour drivers will be there on Saturday including current series point’s leader Daniel Hemric, who has now won seven series features and has finished second in two others in the 11 series events contested to date for the Scott Neal Racing Team. (more…)

ASA MEMBER TRACKS AND SERIES OFFERING GREAT ENTERTAINMENT OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND

World of Outlaws Return to Calistoga Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 9

The rain-delayed sprint car event is part of the five-race California Outlaw Speedweek

CALISTOGA, Calif. – Aug. 28, 2012 – It’s been a long rain delay, but the patient California sprint car fans are in for a treat in early September.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to the Golden State with a unique California Outlaw Speedweek, featuring five races in as many days. Sandwiched in the middle of the weekend is the lone event at Calistoga Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 9.

The race, which was originally scheduled for March 31, succumbed to heavy rain.

“We rained out earlier there this year and to go back and make that show up should be great for the fans out there and it’ll be good for all of us to get in there and get some racing done,” said Craig Dollansky, who won at Calistoga Speedway in 2006.

The 59th annual Gold Cup kicks off the Speedweek Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 6-8, at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The teams will then head approximately 130 miles southeast toward the coast for the event at Calistoga Speedway before wrapping up the California schedule on Monday, Sept. 10, at Antioch Speedway in Antioch. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Has Huge Labor Day Weekend of Racing at Portsmouth and I-77

WAYCROSS, GA (August 28, 2012) – With a huge Labor Day weekend of racing quickly approaching the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is preparing for stops at Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park on Saturday night, September 1st for the $10,000 to win Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble. Then, on Sunday night, September 2nd, the series will sanction the nation’s oldest dirt late model event the 44th Annual Hillbilly 100 at a new venue this year, I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, WV. The crown-jewel event will pay $25,000 to win.

The visit to PRP on Saturday Night will mark the series’ eighth visit to the Donna Rayburn-promoted facility, located along the Ohio River. There will be a complete show with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 50-lap $10,000 to win/$800 to start feature event.
