John Inman Holds Off Reutimann For First Feature Win In Open Wheel

March 31, 2012 – Tampa, Fl – Once again it looked like Mother Nature was going to be a spoiler for Saturday nights event as five classes were in action here at East Bay Raceway Park.

The first feature of the night went to the Limited Late Models. Ricky Land won the heat race and putting him on the outside pole for the feature along with Shane Koperda. On the start it was Koperda and Land side by side thru turns one and two with Land taking the early lead. On the next lap, Land slipped up high and that allowed Koperda to take the lead and never look back as he went on to win the feature. Rounding out the top five was Land, Forrest Gough, Terry Jones and Jason Russell. (more…)

Steve Gill wins race #3 at Punta Gorda Speedway

Punta Gorda Speedway would like to thank Amanda Furguson for bringing two race cars to the track, one to have on display at the front entrance for RAD (Race against Drugs) night. Amanda was on hand at the front of the speedway to sign autographs and hand out posters, race cars toys and sticker to all the kids entering the speedway. It looked as if the rain was staying well north of us all day and with practice all done with it was time to go racing. After qualifying which Darryl Shelnut from Lake City set fast time the heat races got underway and the first feature of the night was the Mini Stock. Kyle Rice of Labelle brought home the win in his number seven machine, with Mike Karrivan second and John Pummell Jr. third. (more…)

Rains Can’t Stop Action For Long At Bubba Raceway Park

3-31-12 – Limited Late Models returned alongside the RaceCar Engineering Late Models, Mini Stocks, and the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks as these 4 divisions raced other drivers and the water which appeared after Limited Late Model Heats.

The Limited Late Models battled hard throughout while the backstretch gave a few drivers trouble. The final caution came out on lap 14 setting up a Green/White-Checkered. JO Nobles and Eddie Gainey stayed 1-2 all night while David Showers took 3rd after a strong run. Kevin Mills and Curt Thift completed the top 5. (more…)

Tim Sozio wins DeSoto Florida United Promoters Truck Series

Healthy field of 21 trucks were on hand for the first Florida United Promoters Truck Series race @ DeSoto in an action packed race Tim Sozio came out on top to take the win.

Back To Work. Again.

3/26/12 – After a one week hiatus to let drivers and crews rest and rebuild the teams are ready to get back at it. RaceCar Engineering Late Model drivers will take to the track for the 3rd time in 2012 while the Limited Late Models embark on their 2nd journey. Thunderstocks and Mini Stocks also join the action for March 31st.

Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. and Mark Whitener have a stranglehold on the RaceCar Engineering Late Models but Bo Allen, Richard Ferry, and Jason Fitzgerald are all ready to attack. Allen ‘s 71 has been quick but “The Grim Reaper” hasn’t quite scared a win out of the competition yet. Bryan Bernhardt, Brandon DeWitt, and Christian Augspurger are 6th-8th but can easily move up the rankings with a win which is very possible for all of them. (more…)

Florida United Promoters Late Models Headed to New Smyrna Speedway

3-26-12 – The Florida Promoters Late Model series heads to New Smyrna Speedway Saturday April 7th for race three on the series. After a couple short track tangles they move the half mile speed plant that has hosted many top Late Model events in its storied history. Steve Dorer opened the season with a convincing win at the Desoto Super Speedway in race one. Then young Harvard student Patrick Staropoli flew in to grab a big win at Auburndale in race two. Doug Watson Wins Late Model Feature At East Bay Raceway Park

March 24, 2012 – Tampa, Fl – Mother Nature looked like she was going to be the big winner tonight before the races got underway as clouds were in full force around the speedway.

The first feature of the night went to the Outlaw Fours. Nick Hebrank and Shirlene Hammond won their heat races. On the front row for the feature was Billy Howard and Stephen Hohlbaugh. When the green flag waved, it was Howard and Hohlbaugh side by side into turn one. (more…)

Saturday night at Auburndale Speedway, The DARA (Daytona Antique Racing Association) presented a good show of 34 Antique race cars in 4 different categories, (Midgets. 6 cyl. V-8’s and Sprints).

Tim Bell set to take on Limited Late Model Field in Spring Classic 500

Altamonte Springs, FL/March 20, 2012 – P1Groupe represented driver Tim Bell gets set to ink a new chapter in his young racing career this coming weekend as he prepares for his Limited Late Model debut in Creation Cope Racing’s Extreme Bidder Chevrolet Impala at Caraway Speedway. The Spring Classic 500 marks the opening of the 2012 season at Caraway Speedway, as well as Bell’s first official start with Creation Cope Racing. Bell first became acquainted with Former Daytona 500 Champion Derrike Cope and his team last month at a testing session with the team in North Carolina. The consistency, adaptability, and ability to grow and learn in his first time behind the wheel of a stock car earned Bell this opportunity that will allow him to begin his road through the ranks of NASCAR.
