CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2nd Annual Ozark Nationals, Rounds 6 and 7 of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season, are coming up this Friday night and Saturday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR with a pair of 50-lap $2,500-to-win events. There are still a plethora of drivers battling for the $20,000 Championship.
NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point leader Walker Arthur will make the long tow from Forest, VA to Batesville, AR to attempt to put some more distance between himself and all challengers for the NeSmith Cup. Arthur brings a season resume of 372 points after one win, three top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five races.
Arthur holds a 24-point lead over the second-place driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings, Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL who has 348 points after two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five races. Mack McCarter of Gatlinburg, TN is ten points behind Adkins in the third spot, ten points behind Adkins with 338 points after two top five finishes and three top five finishes in five starts.
Defending NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN is currently fourth in the standings with 336 points. The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee has one top five finish and two top ten finishes in five starts. Johnson finished fifth in last year’s Ozark Nationals at Batesville Motor Speedway,
Chris Noah of Rainbow City, AL leads the Rookie of the Year point standings and is fifth overall in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division standings with 310 points. Noah has one top five finish and three top ten finishes in five races this season.
Tait Davenport of Benton, KY is looking forward to returning to Batesville Motor Speedway this weekend. Davenport is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 308 points after two top ten finishes in five races. Davenport finished third in last year’s Ozark Nationals and will be looking for his first top five finish of the season this weekend.
Other top NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series regulars expected for the Ozark Nationals at Batesville Motor Speedway are the seventh-place driver in the standings, Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS, along with Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS, defending Ozark Nationals Champion Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL, Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS, Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL, and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series travelers will also face a strong contingent of Batesville Motor Speedway NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model competitors. They include Chandler Petty of Austin, AR who has two BMS wins this season and Roger Witt of Batesville, AR who has a Weekly Racing Series win this season at BMS.

On Friday night and Saturday night at Batesville Motor Speedway, the pit gate opens at 4 p.m. with NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. with Hot Laps to follow.
