Dear Karnac Fans

My name is Scott McAllister and I’m the new administrator of Karnac.com.  I have delayed writing this letter to give myself and the racing community some time to observe Jack’s life and legacy after his almost life-long dedication to this sport and lifestyle.  Everyone that met and knew Jack was aware of the time and effort he committed to building Karnac and promoting racing of all types and I promised Jack and Cathy before his passing that I would carry on the work he started many years ago.

I have slowly been able to decipher Jack’s method to update the site (along with the help of several others) to allow me to at least keep the site  revised with current information, but as we all know, Karnac is much more than press releases and a message board.  It was, and still is your home for auto racing photo and audio archives, editorials, and human interest stories that involve the racing community.  I look forward to bringing you new stories about drivers, car owners, team members, fans and sponsors that will keep you entertained and informed about racing locally and across the country.

The site will soon be completely updated with a new look and layout, but rest assured, the content and Jack’s vision will remain and Karnac will continue for many years to come.  I would like to say thanks to Rick Anges for not only managing the message board, but for his continuing commitment to Jack and his site.  Together, we plan to maintain Jack’s integrity to the racing community.

I would also like to recognize several others that have helped along the way, knowing I’m either unaware or merely forgotten if I leave anyone out.  Of course, Bill Green, who worked with Jack to start Short Track America, Jane Smith with her detailed and eloquent writing skills throughout the years and everyone that were a part of Real Racin’ USA and also Inside Florida Racing including Rob Elting and CeCe Brooks, Hans Nieborg and Craig Clarke.

As I look through the pages of Karnac, I realize that no one has done more for the local racer than Jack Smith.  Literally 1000’s of interviews and photos, more press releases than I can count, and radio shows that introduced drivers, track owners, promoters and more to fans across the country.  I can only hope to bring the same enthusiasm and professionalism that Jack did to the racing community he helped bring together.

Once again, I would like to thank Cathy, her family, and of course Jack, to allow Rick and I to help carry on what he started so many years ago.  And thanks to everyone that helped make Karnac.com your #1 site for racing news and information.

Mother Nature Claims Victory

Saturday night was shaping up to be a thrilling night at the Citrus County Speedway. The highlight event of the night was the Robert Aaron Memorial 50 lap figure 8 race, with over 25 cars registering to compete. But after a few rounds of practice, the skies opened up. The rain cancelled the nights events, and left some people wondering if they should be grabbing 2 of each species of animals for the ark. So today we’ll examine some of the points championship battles that will be decided in the next few weeks of the 2011 season. (more…)
