Hendersonville, NC (7/30/12) –Sean Rayhall and his team under the guidance of Tom Pistone celebrated for the first time in UARA-STARS Victory Lane following the Racing Electronics 150 event at Caraway Speedway Saturday, July 28th. Rayhall’s win was certainly what the young driver needed as he still physically recuperates from his big legends wreck in June.
An odd dilemma was faced at Bubba Raceway Park as the power grid that included Bubba Raceway Park was knocked out meaning the only lights were those of the enclosed trailers, personal street cars, and cellphones. This all happened moments before the first feature was to take place.
Mooresville, NC 7/26/12– It’s hard to find a race or type of car these days that short track crew chief Gary Crooks, owner of Crooks Racing Inc., would be considered a rookie, but that was exactly the case for Crooks in the 2012 Oxford 250 race at the famed Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. Gary, in his first Oxford 250 event with the ACT type cars, lead young Austin Theriault to an impressive third place finish in just his second career Oxford 250 start.
The crew chief and driver combo, who also compete at the super late model ranks for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski, kicked off the day with a bang winning their qualifying heat race and earning a sixth place starting position in the thirty-nine car starting field. Crooks would then go to work behind the scenes as tire strategy was a major factor come for the 250 lap race going forward.
VERNON, NY (July 25, 2010) – Tim McCreadie of Watertown, NY made it a repeat performance from a year ago on Wednesday Night in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Utica-Rome Speedway. McCreadie, who started eighth last year, started fourth this time around, and grabbed the lead on lap nine from Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.
Action returns to America’s Favorite Home Track this Friday Night with the return of the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series 100. The best field of cars we’ve seen so far this year is expected.
The question is of course, can anyone beat Mike Garvey, who has established his Tracy Goodson Race Team as the guys to beat at each and every Pro Late Model event they attend. But Mike will have his hands full with the likes of D.J. VanderLey, Mason Massey, Augie Grill, Korey Ruble, Brandon Odom, Chris Davidson, and the list goes on. It’s sure to be a race you won’t want to miss.
HIBBING, MN. (July 24, 2012) By Brian Liskai – Dale Blaney was in the right place at the right time. “The Low Rider” led all 40 laps Tuesday at Hibbing Raceway to claim his second straight University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions victory.
Charlotte, NC 7/25/12– Over the last several seasons the 4/10th mile oval located in the tiny town of Rougemont, North Carolina, deemed the Orange County Speedway, has hosted two PASS South Series super late model events a year. The first normally comes early in the season schedule during mid spring time, and the second during the middle ofNorth Carolina’s sweltering summer time heat and humidity. Both events are known to produce some of the best racing all season, but round two at theNorth Carolina track, appropriately named the Southern Sizzler 150, always has that extra bit of flare or excitement to it that draws additional fans in the stands and cars in the pits.
BUSTI, NY (July 24, 2012) – The record books will show that John Blankenship of Williamson, WV led all 50 laps of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series debut at Stateline Speedway in Tuesday Night. The record crowd that was in attendance knows that just for a moment Ripley, NY’s Mike Knight almost pulled off a major upset.
Hendersonville, N.C. (7/23/12) – After the action-packed Jeff’s Auto Sales 150 at Newport Tennessee two weeks ago, the UARA-STARS are coming back to the Carolinas for the Racing Electronics 150 at Caraway Speedway Saturday July 28th. This will be round one of a UARA triple header. Following the Caraway event this weekend, the STARS will follow that up with a race at Concord on August 4 and then turn right around for an event at Tri County on August 10th.
Caraway Speedway has not been on the UARA schedule since 2008 at which time Rookie Darrell Wallace Jr. won his only UARA event. Wallace continued his season to win the UARA Rookie of the Year title. The first visit to the 13 degree banking asphalt oval was in November 2007 in a controversial event full of excitement, hot tempers and the UARA championship on the line.
