World Stock Car Festival Features Tight Racing
Winchester, IN (September 23, 2012) – Close finishes, drivers fighting for close point championships were every position counts, a driver solidifying an already strong point lead and racing that proved again Winchester Speedway can be unforgiving were the results from the rain delayed makeup of the World Stock Car Festival on Sunday. Originally scheduled for Labor Day Weekend Winchester Speedway hosted five series on September 23 including the ARCA/CRA Super Series, Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman, and CRA Street Stocks.
Two time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn came into the Winchester 100 tied for the most Super Series wins at Winchester Speedway with three and a commanding lead in the season point championship as he is racing to tie Scott Hantz for the most Championships. Setting second fast time and starting third on the grid VanDoorn wasted no time in getting to the front taking the lead on the fourth lap, he raced to a strong lead while other drivers worked their way to the front also.
A caution on the 20th lap bunched up the field. During the caution caused by a spinning car Kenzie Ruston, second in the point’s race and Joe Beaver were collected, ending both their days. Following the caution VanDoorn outraced EDCO Welding Fast Qualifier Rick Turner to maintain the lead. Throughout the race VanDoorn was never able to pull away from the other racers as Hantz and late in the race Jeff Fultz chased him and stayed close. (more…)

(Sept. 24, 2012) – Kyle Busch will return to the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway, located in Winchester, Indiana, on Sunday, October 14th to compete in the Winchester 400, for the first time since winning the event in 2009. Busch will take aim at his second victory at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile,” driving his Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) No. 51 Camry in the 41st annual running of the prestigious Super Late Model event sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
Coeburn, VA (9/22/2012) –After winning seven Sunoco Poles, including Saturday night’s, Travis Swaim finally brought home a win for his Falcon Racing team during the Courtesy Chevrolet Kingsport 150 at Lonesome Pine Speedway and another Comp Cams Engine Builder of the Race award for Charlie Long.
On the final lap, Bassett who was currently third, made a run for it on the back stretch and brought home a second place finish with Rayhall in third. Bassett earned the Extreme Trohpies & More/Circle Wheel Rookie of the Race award along with the Holley Performer award for gaining the most positions during the race.
CARTERSVILLE, GA – The point lead changed hands three times in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 26 competition and ended up with Chase Washington of Houlka, MS and Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA tied at the top of the list with 798 points apiece. The Hottest Point Battle in Racing now heads to the 27th and final week of the season for the $10,000 prize.
Neil Lee of Flowood, MS in the JWH Equipment GRT swept the Double Features on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS and Chad Washington of Greenville, MS drove the Washington Body Shop GRT to his first win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.
Charlotte, NC 9/24/12- Preston Peltier knew what it would take to win at the Hickory Motor Speedway Saturday in the PASS South Series’ fall event, the Over the Mountain 150, and made it happen. Peltier saved his tires in the first half of the 150 lap race, and let his fellow competitors come to him eventually making his way to the front picking cars off one at a time before taking the lead for good on lap eighty-nine and never looked back. The win was the Concord, North Carolina driver’s second of the season dating back to the series season opener at the Dillon Motor Speedway on March 10th.
WAYCROSS, GA (September 24, 2012) – The largest total purse in dirt late model racing awaits participants for the 9th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA on September 27, 28, and 29. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event has a total purse over $260,000 with two-$7,000 to win preliminary events and a $40,000 to win championship race on Saturday night.
