(DuQUOIN, Ill.) – Ken Schrader won the Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care Monday, surviving a green-white-checkered finish to win for the second time this season in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

Schrader, in the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet, won the pole, led the first 41 laps and led when it counted, the finish. He passed Tom Hessert in the No. 77 Barbera’s Autoland Dodge, just before a caution came out to set up the green-white-checkered finish. As cars fought for position, Hessert made his move but couldn’t get any closer to Schrader.

“That was just too much fun,” Schrader said in victory lane. It was his 17th career ARCA victory.

Big Money On The Line At Bubba Raceway Park!

IMG_2238Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- With just three months left until the season ends with the Nesmith World Championships (though the second half of the Florida State Championship Races are in late December), Bubba wants to start the final third of the year off with money on the line. The Limited Late Models have $1200, Hobby Stocks have $1100 (yes, $1100), and the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks have $1000 up for grabs with NO ENTRY FEES AND NO MINIMUM CAR COUNTS. Joining them will be the Florida Mini Sprints and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. Also, don’t forget about the practice session on Friday night!
Tyler Clem, one of three winners in the Limited Late Models this year, has a 20 point advantage in the standings, but two tough races has kept Chuck Jackson closer than what Clem would like. Jackson sits just 20 back, and he has a 49 point advantage over Jason Pope for second. Tim Powers has won both events he has entered this year and Nevin Gainey has been pretty good as well with a win last week and a podium to go with it. JO Nobles hasn’t won yet, but the defending division champion can never be counted out.
Devin Walker has a nearly 300 point lead over Brian Shea after Walker went runner-up last week-end. (more…)

Schatz Surges to 19th World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Win

Holds off Pittman at Grays Harbor to tie his single-season victory mark

MA, Wash. – Sept. 2, 2013 – Different track, same Donny Schatz. The hottest driver in sprint car racing brought his game to Grays Harbor Raceway on Monday night and earned his 19th World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory of the season, tying his single-season mark, as the series’ Gold Rush Tour continues down the Pacific Coast for six more nights in a row.

Since winning the Knoxville Nationals in mid-August, five-time series champion Schatz has won five of eight World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series A-mains and closed to within 20 points of the series’ overall championship points leader, Daryn Pittman. From a historical perspective, Schatz has 143 victories in his career, 10 away from tying Mark Kinser for third all-time.

Pittman started alongside Schatz on the front row Monday night and stole the lead from Schatz on lap 13 with an incredible slide job that took all of turns three and four to complete as Schatz was tied up trying to pass a lapped car. Pittman led until a caution with 17 of 30 laps complete forced a restart. Pittman’s car bobbled just a bit but it was enough for Schatz to reclaim the top spot, a lead Schatz would not relinquish despite four more cautions. (more…)

Twenty-four hours after dropping out of the weekend’s opening event due to an overheating engine, Lanigan stormed forward from the fourth starting spot to take the lead from Rick Eckert of York, Pa., on lap 14 and never looked back en route to his series-leading 10th win of the season.

Owens Wins Second Career Hillbilly 100 with Victory at I-77

1237034_10151576954337015_516500933_nRIPLEY, WV (September 1, 2013) Current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points leader, Jimmy Owens, won his second career Hillbilly 100 on Sunday Night at I-77 Raceway Park.  Owens took the lead on lap 61 and went on to win his 8th series event in 2013 and $25,000 for winning the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned crown jewel event. The massive crowd also saw Owens increase his points lead in the chase for the ASi Crown Jewel Cup-Presented by Dirtondirt.com and the $10,000 bonus.

Steve Francis charged from his eighth starting spot to finish second.  Earl Pearson, Jr., who started 10th, finished third, followed by 19th starting Billy Moyer, and Steve Shaver rounded out the top five finishers.

Dennis Erb Jr. led the first 60 laps of the race and appeared to have one of the strongest cars in the race from the start. But Erb’s machine began smoking heavy during the middle stages of the race allowing Owens to close the gap. Owens then passed Erb for the lead coming off of turn number two on Lap 61. Erb finally slowed in turn four on lap 62 bringing out a caution as his night ended abruptly with mechanical failure.

“I saw Dennis smoking for a long time. I wanted to pull up beside him and tell him to save the motor and not damage it. I feel bad for them, they work so hard, and they had a good car. I am not sure if I could have ever gotten around him.  He has led so many of these crown jewel races and he is going to get one soon,” said the Owens in victory lane. (more…)

Satterlee Opens World of Outlaws Late Model Series Doubleheader At Selinsgrove Speedway With Convincing Victory

Scores Second Career Win On National Tour Just One Month After His First

083113_Selinsgrove1VLSELINSGROVE, PA – Aug. 31, 2013 – It took Gregg Satterlee 85 tries to break into Victory Lane on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. He needed just five more starts to make his return to the national tour’s most exalted spot.

Almost exactly one month after registering his first-ever WoO LMS A-Main triumph Satterlee was back in the spotlight, rolling to a convincing win in Saturday night’s 40-lap ‘Showdown On Sand Hill’ at Selinsgrove Speedway.

Satterlee, 29, of Rochester Mills, Pa., was unbeatable in the opening leg of the inaugural WoO LMS doubleheader at the historic half-mile central Pennsylvania oval. He passed defending circuit champion Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., for the lead on lap 17 – a moment before Lanigan slowed with an overheating engine – and dominated the remainder of the distance to cash an $8,050 first-place check.

“I would’ve never thought we would’ve got one again this year,” said Satterlee, whose milestone first WoO LMS victory came on July 30 at Shawano (Wis.) Speedway. “It always hangs in the back of your mind – that once you get (a win), you can do it again – but I never would’ve dreamed that we would do it again this soon. This is just awesome.” (more…)
