History to be Made this Weekend at Magnolia Motor Speedway

headerimage2Columbus, Mississippi (10/08/13) This weekend, October 10th-12th, racers and race fans, who attend Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) will be a part of history as two great races from the state of Mississippi come together for one mega event with the inaugural Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100.

For over twenty years the Magnolia State 100 hosted some of the most exciting racing of the year in Mississippi.  After a few years away, event founder, Dewitt Singleton has brought the race back as a combined effort with Johnny Stokes’ annual Cotton Pickin’ 100.

“For various reasons we didn’t have the Magnolia State 100 last year, but I really like what Johnny is doing at Magnolia Motor Speedway, and I thought it would be a great idea to try and combine both races,” notes Singleton.  “There are so many late-season races in this region that it just didn’t make sense to hold the Magnolia State 100 separately from the Cotton Pickin.”

For Johnny Stokes the combined effort is a no brainer.

“It takes a lot of work and time to make these big races happen, and it makes life a little easier having Dewitt and his crew working along with myself and my great crew here at Magnolia Motor Speedway,” comments Stokes.  “Plus we’ve actually been able to increase the purse this year, while bringing the Magnolia State 100 name back into the fold.  There’s a lot of excitement among racers and fans for this reinvigorated event.” (more…)

October Begins With A Bang At Bubba Raceway Park

10122013Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators will all take to the track with championships wrapping up quickly.

The Bubba Army Late Models are back for the first time in two months after the rain destroyed the month of August and Rich Pratt still has the #0 at the point. Eleven year old Tyler Clem sits 66 back in second place, an incredible feat for the Late Model rookie. Defending division champion Mark Whitener is now 100 markers back, and Bryan Bernhardt is a further 21 behind him. Jeff Mathews rounds out the top five. Pratt very well could win the title without a race victory, but he doesn’t want to do that. Can you name the last driver to win a title (in any division) at Bubba Raceway Park without a feature victory that year?

Jeff Mathews put his foot down (figuratively and literally) and now has a 19 point lead over Charlie O’Neill in the Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds championship. In fact, O’Neill is the only driver to make every feature, making Mathews feat more impressive. Scott Kurtzner sits only 38 markers behind Mathews, Rich Pratt is a further 12 behind Kurtzner, and Bryan Bernhardt is just two behind Pratt! The title is far from over and it can only get better as October begins to close. (more…)

Chris Madden Takes First Career Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout Victory

MaddenWOODSTOCK, GA (October 5, 2013) – After coming close a year ago to winning his first Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout, Chris Madden sealed the deal tonight to take home the $10,000 pay day in the Southeast’s most prestigious event. Madden led all 50 laps for his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph of 2013.

Billy Ogle, Jr. charged from the 11th starting position to take second. RED BUCK Fast Qualifier and pole sitter Randy Weaver came home in third. Six-time Shootout winner, Scott Bloomquist was fourth. Defending race winner, Jimmy Owens finished fifth.

“After what happened to us last year, leading until the last lap and not winning, this feels great,” said the 38-year-old veteran driver. “The car was so good all night. I told Scott (Bloomquist) I didn’t know what to do to the car for the feature. It was very easy to drive, and that’s a scary feeling going into the feature, because you want to change something. But you don’t want to mess up anything.” (more…)

Peacock and Nosbisch Win Late Model Features At East Bay Raceway Park

October 5, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Double Features would be held for the Late Models as Mother Nature put an end to last week’s feature. Also racing was the East Bay Sprints, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks, V8 Warriors and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

First feature of the night was the make-up feature from last week. Kyle Musselman and Josh Peacock would make up the front row. When the green waved it was Peacock leading the way until a few cautions would come out. One caution was for Kyle Musselman as he spun in turn four bunching up the field for a restart. Behind Peacock was Mavrick Varnadore and Jamie Slatton. Caution came out as Kenny Monahan would slow on lap nine. On the restart Peacock now had Steve Miller and David Schmauss trailing him. On lap seventeen it was Jamie Slatton spinning after falling back several spots and in the top five. When the final green waved on lap seventeen crossing the line first was Peacock picking up his third feature of the year. Rounding out the top five were Steve Miller, David Schmauss, Travis Varnadore and Kyle Musselman. (more…)

October Begins With A Bang At Bubba Raceway Park

IMG_3143Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Limited Sprints, Limited late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and TQ Late Models all put on a fantastic show to start off September. Also, don’t forget that we have a 32″ TV being raffled off courtesy of BendinRulesEmporium.com and all proceeds will go the family of PJ Wiggins on the night of October 19th which is the PJ Wiggins Memorial.

Limited Late Models started the action off with Tyler Clem opening the gap up from pole. Richard Ferry would give chase, but a little past halfway he found his racecar slowing and would retire with that. Clem would continue to open the gap and eventually beat Shane Koperda by over 17 seconds. Ricky Land would round out the podium with Chuck Jackson and Ferry the top five.

Brian Hansford opened up with the lead in the Hobby Stocks, but Tim Powers was hunting him down and had Mike Stalnaker with him. At the halfway point Heath Walker looped his #55 and left Hansford to fend off Powers and Stalnaker. On the restart Hansford didn’t fire and Powers made contact that sent the #2 around. Stalnaker, Joey Forsyth, and Wally Schneider were involved as well and the #57 of Schneider would retire as the right rear wheel fell off. Hansford would retire from the event (and was the caution causer anyway) leaving Powers, Stalnaker, and points leader Devin Walker up front. As lapped traffic came into play, Mike Stalnaker set up his move. As the front two entered turn one, Stalnaker used the lapped traffic of Donnie Reed and Dave Arivett to get around Tim Powers and grab the win. Devin Walker, Ray Ethridge, and Heath Walker completed the top five. (more…)

Fred Rahmer Earns His First Williams Grove Speedway National Open Victory in Final Attempt of His Career

Pennsylvania Legend Earns $50,000 at World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Crown Jewel

RahmerMECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Oct. 5, 2013 – Fred Rahmer sure knows how to throw a retirement party. Rahmer, the leader of the Pennsylvania Posse competing on Saturday in what is widely expected to be his final National Open at Williams Grove Speedway, won the historic event for the first time in his hall-of-fame career.

Rahmer and Steve Buckwalter swapped the lead before Rahmer moved to the front for good on lap 14 of the 40-lap, $50,000-to-win crown jewel event.

“It’s absolutely incredible,” said Rahmer, of Salfordville, Pa. “I don’t know what to say. It sure felt good going across the scales and all the Outlaw guys coming up and congratulating me, that meant more than the 50 grand. One of my goals this year was to win an Outlaw race, and it’s a high goal to set. Everyone had me dead and buried and washed up. This proves them wrong.” (more…)
