October 5, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Double Features would be held for the Late Models as Mother Nature put an end to last week’s feature. Also racing was the East Bay Sprints, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks, V8 Warriors and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

First feature of the night was the make-up feature from last week. Kyle Musselman and Josh Peacock would make up the front row. When the green waved it was Peacock leading the way until a few cautions would come out. One caution was for Kyle Musselman as he spun in turn four bunching up the field for a restart. Behind Peacock was Mavrick Varnadore and Jamie Slatton. Caution came out as Kenny Monahan would slow on lap nine. On the restart Peacock now had Steve Miller and David Schmauss trailing him. On lap seventeen it was Jamie Slatton spinning after falling back several spots and in the top five. When the final green waved on lap seventeen crossing the line first was Peacock picking up his third feature of the year. Rounding out the top five were Steve Miller, David Schmauss, Travis Varnadore and Kyle Musselman.

Next up were the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks. Winning their heats were Dennis Wilson, Jr and Buck Woodhouse. For the feature it would be Jarod Gay and Roberto Morfin, Sr. When the green waved Jarod quickly took over the lead when cautions would come out on lap one for Thomas Burnside spinning in turn four and on lap two as Billy Barstow and Buck Woodhouse tangled in turn three up against the wall. After a restart on lap six, Wilson, Jr. after running in the second spot would get a right rear flat sending him to the pits as he crew quickly got it changed and back out on the track in time for the restart. On the final restart Jarod would lead the way. With a few laps remaining his father Tim Gay was on his back bumper until the last lap going in to turn one. Tim gave Jarod a little tap sending Jarod up the track and Tim would take over and win the race. “I would have done the same thing if my mom was leading” he said jokingly in Victory Lane. Rounding out the top five were Thomas Burnside, Justin Rodgers, Jarod Gay and Dennis Wilson, Jr.

Next were the East Bay Sprints. Winning their heats were Tim George and Kerry Gilbert. On the front row for the feature it would be Gene Lasker and Billy Boyd, Jr. When the green waved it was Lasker and Boyd side by side for the first lap until lap two when Joe Metcalf spun in turn four. Metcalf would then spin out on the next lap bringing out his second caution sending him to the infield. On the restart it was Lasker, Boyd and Gilbert until lap five when Lorenzo Capitano spun in turn two. Which setup another restart of Lasker and Boyd, Jr. On lap six it was Boyd, Jr. giving Lasker the slide and the two would tangle and got caught up together. Lasker finally broke loose and had to take it to the infield. Boyd Jr. was able to hold on and pick up the win with DJ Peeples, Kerry Gilbert, Frank Beck and Tim George rounding out the top five.

V8 Warriors were next with Jessica Robbins and Jeff Weaver. For the feature it was Bill Whitney and Jeff Weaver making up the front row. Weaver would lead lap one until Marco Reyes had a right rear flat and would end up three laps down when they were able to return to the feature. On lap seven it was Whitney and Weaver battling side by side for several laps. On lap nine Whitney would take over the lead until in turn one Whitney was tapped by Weaver sending them both around and Kevin Cassaday went by them both and would take the checkered flag for his second feature win of the year. Rounding out the top five were Henry Wiley, William Suggs, Ron Smith and Bill Whitney.

Feature number two would be next for the Late Models and Roger Crouse and Mavrick Varnadore would make up the front row. Keith Nosbisch who started in the third position quickly made haste of the front two in turns one and two. Nosbisch took over the lead with Peacock right beside him as the two would run that way for several laps. Keith would take over on lap four and he and Peacock would begin to make their way through traffic for sixteen green flag laps. Caution would come out on lap seventeen as Wallace Peacock would have a left rear flat and end his night. Caution would come out with Nosbisch leading with just three laps remaining as Peacock was on his back bumper once again. When the checkered waved it was Nosbisch picking up the win, with Peacock was passed by Mavrick Varnadore for second and Peacock giving him third. David Schmauss and Steve Miller rounded out the top five.

Final event was the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Winning their heats were John Moore and Wayne Kissam. For the front row of the feature it was Don R. Quinn and Wayne Kissam. John Moore quickly took over the top spot until lap four when Raymond Vann would take over the lead. Vann would be hounded by John Moore and Quinn as they tried to get by Vann. Caution would come out on lap eleven for debris on the track as a bumper cover came off on the front stretch. On the restart Vann would lead the field to the checkered flag with John Moore, Jimmy Baker, Wayne Kissam and Troy Dittebrand rounding out the top five.
