North Florida 3/9/13

It was a great season opening for the Florida Mini Sprint Association and the name of the game on this night …was “Let’s Boogie” as Orange Springs,Florida resident John Kahl brought his #13 HYPER chassis mini sprint home in first place when the feature event threw the checkered flag.
21 racers signed in the pit shack and three heats kicked off the start of the 2013 points season and “The Quest for The Championship” at the Lake City 3/8 mile semi banked dirt oval.
Heat number 1 was won by the 2012 FMSA Champion Eddie Moss Jr. #8 of Deland,Florida followed by John Kahl #13,David Hall #67,Dirk Miller #68,John Crowder #30,Sheldon Kinser Jr. #56Jr. and Ken Penta #24 (more…)

Shane Taylor Doubles Up At NFS

Lake City FL. Racers and fans got a chance to get the 2012 season underway Saturday night and defending Limited Modified champion Shane Taylor wasted no time getting his title defense underway with a feature event win. He also took top honors in the Pure Stock feature event. Stanton Mills won the Late Model event with Devin Walker the winner in Street Stocks and John Windham the top finisher in Box Stock and Chuck Cumby the victor in TQ Lates.

At the drop of the green flag in the Limited Modified feature Shane Taylor took the lead from JD Jeffers and paced the first three laps. On lap three the battle for second between Jeffers and Jamie Green saw the two make contact with the end result seeing Jeffers into the front stretch guard rail and coming to rest on his roof. Both drivers were OK and when the battle resumed Donnie Hall would be the new challenger for Taylor. (more…)

Kyle Van Sickle Tops Late Models At NFS

Although the weather was chilly on Saturday night the action on the track was hot at times with Kyle Van Sickle surviving a late race skirmish with a lapped car to hold off Adam Bedenbaugh and his brother Ryan Van Sickle for the the checkers. In Street Stock competition Sammy Hatcher took the win over Heath Walker and Dennis Peterson. Kyle Arvin took his second win in Limited Modified over Ronald Broughton and Devin Walker. Jimmy Carter was the Pure Stock winner over Jerry Fortner and Chris Rowe. In the finale it was John Windham first to the checkers in Box Stock but Bryar Zimmerman was the first to pass post race technical inspection to earn his second victory of 2011. (more…)

Wayne O’Neal Ends Drought At NFS

By Jeff Bean-NFS Media- Lake City Fl. Wayne O’Neal ended a three year win less stretch in Sportsman competition at North Florida Speedway Saturday night. The night also featured a Halloween celebration with trick or treating for the kids and a costume contest for all the youngsters. In other racing action Adam Bedenbaugh continued his dream season with a hard fought win over Bo Allen in Late Model action. David Pleaugh extended his point lead with a win in the Florida Mini Sprint Association feature event. Point leader Shane Taylor used a borrowed ride to win his fourth Pure Stock race in his last five tries. (more…)

Sizemore Takes Modified Win At NFS

Paul Sizemore Jr. took the Open Wheel Modified feature event Saturday night with a green to checker run. Jody Turner took the win in Sportsman main event action and Bud Chancey was the winner in Street Stock. Veronica Clark was victorious in the Pure Stock feature and Tony LaPorta out dueled Kevin Underwood for top honors in Box Stock action.

Sportsman would kick off the nights feature event action and Kevin Mills and Paul Shead would make up the front row. Mills would grab the lead and hold it for the first two laps before the caution would appear for an incident involving Dave Ponton and Kevin Davis in turn four. On the ensuing restart Mills would come to rest along the wall at the exit of turn two. (more…)

Jared Allison Races To NFS Mod Win

Six different divisions took to the clay at North Florida Speedway Saturday night and Jared Allison scored his first Open Wheel Modified win of 2011. Other feature event winners were the father son team of Ed and Nevin Gainey in Sportsman and Street Stock respectively. Shane Taylor scored his second straight Pure stock win and Daryl Larson took hid third win of 2011 in Box Stock. John Hopke took the win in TQ Lates. (more…)

Jamie Dayhaw Collects First Career Win At NFS

By Jeff Bean-Lake City Fl.- Jamie Dayhaw of Keystone Heights took his first feature event win in Sportsman action at NFS. Other winners on the card were Adam Bedenbaugh in Late
Model, Harold Mathews in Florida Mini Sprint Association and Shane Taylor doubled up on the evening with wins in both Pure Stock and Limited Modified divisions.

Sportsman were the first cars to start the feature racing for the night and the initial start saw Robby Stevens jump to the early lead only to spin in front of the entire field bringing out the yellow before a lap could be completed. The next attempt to start the race would prove to be more successful and Freddie Daniels would pace the field for the first four laps. (more…)
