Illinois Drivers Invade ARCA at Springfield Mile Dirt
(TOLEDO, Ohio – August 16, 2012) – As the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards entry list continues to build momentum for this Sunday’s 50th Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds mile dirt in Springfield, so too does the interest from the locals.
Last check, eight drivers from Illinois are shaking off the dust on their ARCA cars. Apparently, the lure of racing with ARCA’s finest fulltime competitors, combined with the tradition of this historic race in their home state, is just too much to avoid.
El Paso, Illinois’s Ryan Unzicker leads the charge. Unzicker, driving for fellow Illinoisan Bill Hendren, is the 2011 UMP Late Model National Champion and has a strong contingent of fans that follow his career. The rain actually sealed the deal for 2012 Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models Track Champion Jared Miley as he carries an 82 point lead into the final two weeks; the maximum total a driver can earn one night is 40 points. In doing so, Jared and his uncle Ben Miley, join Dick & Brian Swartzlander as the only Uncle/Nephew Track Champion duos.
HUNTSVILLE, AL (August 13, 2012)—With the -sanctioned Buddy Rogers Memorial coming up within the next month at Tazewell Speedway, lap sponsors for the 44-lap Feature event are still available. The lap sponsors who purchase a lap, which costs $44.00 per lap, support the American Cancer Society with all monies going to fund their causes. Several laps are still available for purchase.
