Three Days of Racing that will be Remembered by Many

Sunday morning the pits opened at 10:00 and the Front gates opened at 11:00 with track Chaplin Richard Stone holding a church service.

It was great to hear that everyone was having fun and though some parties were held till wee hours of the night or morning, everyone behaved them self very well. It was time to get the last show of the weekend going and some were feeling a little more sluggish than others but it was time to go racing. (more…)

Daryl Shelnut gets Second Win in the Goodyear Six Pack 100

It was a cool night and with so many “super” drivers showing up to race, the fans showed how Saturday Night short track racing is alive and well at the Punta Gorda Speedway. After getting all the race cars parked in every space they could find, and fans finally settled in and it was time for some of the best racing action in the state.

Features were underway and it was the Fab 4 class up first on the schedule and it took two bad starts till the flagman put the front two drivers to the back and third time was the charm. (more…)

This Saturday Night its the Return of the Goodyear Super Late Model Six Pack Series

This Saturday night Nov 12th its the return of the Goodyear Super Late Model six pack series #5 at Punta Gorda Speedway.

It the first of the final two six pack series races for Super Late Models this month.

Danny Anderson Wins Al Newman Memorial at PGS

It was a great night for racing at Punta Gorda Speedway, the weather was cool but some tempers were hot and the new “young guns” showed what they got. All the qualifying and heat races were done and Chaplin Stone gave a moment of silence for Al Newman before the parade and features got under way.

First up were the Bandoleros that saw the X of Johnny Holmes of Port Charlotte loose control and bounce off the tires in turn three before one lap was in the books. Johnny Holmes was lucky to hit the tires and not the wall which made him able to walk away but end his night of racing. (more…)

Steve Arnold Treats the Fans with First Place Finish in Open Wheel 50 Lapper

It was a cool, dry night at Punta Gorda Speedway that was fill with ghost and goblins, bubble bees, and even a visit from Danica Patrick. As the kids from all ages invaded the speedway dressed up in all sorts of costumes there were no signs of all the rain that fell on the speedway all day long Friday. (more…)

Trick or Treat the Drivers Night at Punta Gorda Speedway

Its called Trick or Treat the drivers night, kids dress up and invade the Punta Gorda Speedway for a
fun filled night of racing and lots of treats for the kids. Drivers and their cars line up on the front stretch with lots of candy and treats while kids pour onto the track to go driver to driver, car to car, and load up on tons of candy and treats. There will also be a costume contest, so lets get the kids ready for a safe, fun filled night of racing and Trick or Treat.
Racing will be Oct 29- Open Wheel Modified Twin 35, Pro 4/ Fab 4 40 laps, Road Warriors 50 Laps, Mini Stocks, Cowboy Cadillac 35 Laps

Josh Williams makes a Pit Stop to PGS to Bring Home a Win in the Legends Race

It was a great night to spend outdoors and Punta Gorda Speedway is the place to be on a Saturday Night to watch some of the best short track racing in the state. Bill Vandevender Dominates the Sportsman with Three Wins in a Row

The weather was great and with a good crowd on hand the points battle have really been heating up the racing in some of the classes.

The Mini Stock were moved to the first feature of the night to give some of the drivers in the Pro 4 time to make the feature after several cars being towed to the pits. A great battle went on with Kyle Rice of Labelle, who lead the first half while closely being chased by Fred Harrison. On a restart, Harrison was able to get by Rice to take over the lead then it was Rice battling back. Fred Harrison would go onto win with Kyle Rice second, John Pummell Jr third and making her return back into racing to finish fourth was Michele Riley. (more…)
