Buddy’s Home Furnishings Blizzard Series Finale
PLEASE HELP!!! We need your help to crown some Champions, and it all starts Friday Night with the Buddy’s Home Furnishing Blizzard Series. The 5th and final Blizzard Series Super Late Model 100 is on tap this Friday, with what is expected to be the largest field of cars we have seen this year.So far, the list represents 12 states and Canada. Georgia driver, Bubba Pollard, by utilizing model consistency, is poised to be crowned as this years Blizzard Series Champ. But there are many story lines that have developed during this 2012 racing season. The fight to finish the season in the top ten in the points standings ranks high on any driver’s list. This insures at least a chance at a provisional starting spot in the 45th Annual Snowball Derby.
The Super Stock Division Title will also be decided this week, with Bubba Winslow coming in with a narrow 21 point lead over Randy Thompson. And in preparation for the September 29th “Whataburger Night of Champions” event, the West Florida Coatings Sportsman and Butler U Pull- It Bombers will be awarded double points this Friday, assuring everyone of a little extra drama on Championship Night. All said, this Friday is sure to offer up some of the best short track action you can find anywhere. (more…)
Citrus County Speedway fans saw the racing action crank up Saturday night with time trial qualifying for the Florida United Promoters Series late models. 21 of the states top drivers and cars all took the fastest of their two qualifying laps, to help determine their starting position for the 100 lap feature. When all was said and done, it was a familiar face sitting on top of the field. Daniel Webster (33) set the fast time for the 2nd FUPS race at Citrus in a row, followed by Jesse Dutilly (30), and Steve Dorer (10) in 3rd. The top 8 drivers in the series then redraw for their starting positions. With the help of some young speedway fans, Jonathan Guy (42) had his lucky fan pull the pole position. He would have 3rd fastest qualifier and series point leader Steve Dorer alongside for the green flag. Guy would lead the field to green, and win the drag race with Dorer to turn one, but caution would fly for the stalled car of Jake Perkins (59) on the backstretch, before the lap was completed. Perkins had battled ignition problems all day, and an electrical short ended his night before the race even got started.
Jim Rouse, BRP Media (9-17-12) Ocala, FL – As the points paying season at Bubba Raceway Park begins to close we see that no division has more than 10 features scheduled through the season finale. A few of those divisions will come 1 race closer to deciding their champion; they are the RaceCar Engineering Late Models, Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks. Those 4 divisions will be joined by the first Figure-8 Race of the Bubba Clem Era!
CHARLOTTE, NC (September 13) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced today that North America’s top Super Late Models will kick off the 2013 PASS National Series at Auburn-dale Speedway in Florida. The Inaugural Florida Winter Meltdown scheduled for February 9, 2013 will be a 200 lap P ASS National points race, paying $6,000 to the winner. It will mark the first ever trip for the PASS Super Late Models to the tight quarter-mile oval located in Winter Haven. “I can’t think of a better way to start 2013 than in Florida at Auburndale,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “The weather should be really nice in February and I know our PASS North competitors in New Eng-land and Canada, along with our PASS South competitors in the Southeast are excited to get the season started with the Florida Winter Meltdown. Super Late Model racing has a great heritage in Florida and we’re really looking forward to a great battle between the Sunshine State’s best racers and the PASS regulars.” Auburndale Speedway owner Rex Guy has been at the forefront in helping to get the PASS Super Late Models back to Florida. Guy is excited to bring major Super Late Model racing back to his home state.

By Jim Rouse, BRP Media (9-10-12) Ocala, FL – This week-end’s 2-day show is the 2nd annual PJ Wiggins Memorial. Wiggins was an outstanding race-car driver but was, and still is, a great father figure to his children and even children who watched him win with a smooth and graceful technique; more importantly, he was always a very thankful man. A victim to skin cancer, he is sorely missed in the racing community so we honor him with the 2nd annual PJ Wiggins Memorial for the Scorpion Racing Products Open-Wheel Modifieds. Racing alongside them Friday night will be the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators.
Citrus County Speedway fans were treated to two 50 lap feature events on Saturday night as the Florida United Pro Truck Series and the Pure Stocks both went the extra distance. The night got underway with time trial qualifying for the trucks and Pure Stocks. When the dust settled, Jessica Murphy took top honors in the truck division, and Michael Martin to the honors in the Pure Stocks.
