Josh Peacock Picks Up First Late Model Feature Win Of 2013 Season At East Bay Raceway Park

March 16, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It was the first night for the Late Models and the V8 Warriors as the Street Stocks, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers returned for the second week in a row.

First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks. Winning heat races early on were Matthew Grissom and Jarod Gay. For the feature event it was Dennis Wilson, Jr and Matthew Grissom on the front row. On the green flag, Wilson, Jr. led the first lap until Thomas Burnside spun in turn two bringing out the first caution of the night. Four more cautions came out until on lap eight when several cars got tangled up on the backstretch with William Burnside getting the worst end of it as his left front dug into the track sending his car airborne and flipping bringing out the red. Burnside was ok but the car was not. After the green was waved again, Jarod Gay got into the back of the leader Wilson, Jr. spinning him out. Gay was charged with the spin putting him to the rear and Wilson, Jr back up front. Charging up from the fourth position was Dennis Williams. With just a few laps left, Williams passed Wilson, Jr. and crossed the finish line first. But after tech, Williams was dq’d for the wrong tires. Dennis Wilson, Jr. was deemed the winner with Jarod Gay coming back up from the back to finish second. Buck Woodhouse, Roy Woodhouse and Roberto Morfin, Sr. rounded out the top five.

A Warm Welcome Back

Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Crate Late Models opened their season up with a non-points race for the NeSmith Weekly Series while the E-Mods, Hobby Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put points and glory on the line in the second week of racing at Bubba Raceway Park.

Hobby Stock action was the opener and it started with Hunter Gustafson jumping to the lead from outside pole. Devin Walker and Donnie Ashford found themselves chasing the 15-year old driver until a lap 10 caution for James Erickson. Erickson took a wild ride as his car smacked the wall and the contact flipped his #16 right over after heavy contact with the fence. Erickson, who was 3rd at the time, got out under his own power and his only complaint was that he wrecked a beautiful racecar. The final 10 went caution-free but not drama-free as Walker, who’s feathers had been ruffled already by Gustafson, made a move that was seen differently by everyone. Regardless, Gustafson held Walker off and took home his first ever feature win and the whole family took the trip to Coors Light Winner’s Circle. (more…)

Eagle Jet / Top Gun Sprints Press Release for March 9th, 2013

The Eagle Jet/Top Gun Sprints made their first visit of 2013 to the Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston on Saturday March 9, 2013. There were 9 cars at the track to give fans two heat races, Hosehead’s dash for cash, and a 25 lap feature race.

The heat races are lined up using a pill pull system, and Mike Schroeder in the 6 had the pole for the start of the first heat race with Shane Kreidler in the 52 on the outside, Mike took the race lead, till he got together with Shane and a slow roll over destroyed both wings, after his car was removed and the restart it was Shane took the lead and the win. Danny Martin had the pole for the start of the second heat race in the 82 car with Gene Lasker in the 02 on the outside, Danny Martin took the initial race lead and went on to take the heat win. Opening Night for Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints this Saturday at Putnam County Speedway

putnam Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprint series will make their first appearance at Putnam County Speedway in Palatka, FL on Saturday, March 16^th. Everyone is looking for an exciting night of racing on the newly remodeled 3/8’s mile semi banked clay oval.

Last week’s feature winner, Gene Lasker, will be trying to make it two in a row, but Shane Kreidler, Danny Martin and AJ Maddox are also strong contenders. The ‘Jeff’ Barfield Clean Sweep award will roll to $200.00 at Putnam County for the driver winning his heat and the feature event.

RAD, or Race Against Drugs Stay on Track Activity books will be given to children attending the races to encourage them to live drug free and healthier lives.

Putnam County Speedway pit gates will open at 3:00 pm, grandstands at 4:00 pm and racing starts at 6:00pm. Come join us for a full night of racing with the DAARA Antiques, Sportsmen, Hobby Stock, Thunder Stock, and Mini Stock classes.

More First-Timers?

By- Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- After 4 of the 5 winners last week were first-timers in their respective division at Bubba Raceway Park it leaves us wondering- can we do it again? Of course, the Crate Late Models will as it’s their first time out without the NeSmith Touring Series on site and the E-Mods will battle for just the 2nd time in history. The 2 that leave questions, of course, are the Hobby Stocks and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. Those 4 divisions will put on a fantastic show that you won’t want to miss!

The Bubba Raceway Park Crate Late Models will go at it on the 3/8 mile but just for track points as the NeSmith Weekly Series does not count races until March 25th. Kyle Bronson, coming off of a big win in the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series, has already won a NeSmith Touring Championship race so he knows how to win in the Crate Late Model on the big scale. Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. and Christian Augspurger will take their talents into the Crate Late Models and we’ll get a real solid look at 10-year old Tyler Clem as he’ll be on a level playing field with the stars. Regal KIA – Chevrolet 100

The Florida United Promoters Series Super Late Models will visit Auburndale Speedway this Saturday for the Regal KIA – Chevrolet of Lakeland 100. This will be race #2 of the 2013 season, pre entries include Jesse Dutilly, Jonathan Guy, Daniel Webster, Jake Perkins, David Green, Jessica Murphy, Randy Anderson, Anthony Cataldi, Daniel Keene Jr., 2012 champ Steve Dorer and 2013 race one winner Wayne Anderson.

The Legends who will travel with the Super Late Models this season with join with a 40 Lapper on the night’s events. Joining the supers and legends will be the Bandolero’s, Kid’s Club, V-8 Bombers, Scramblers & Street Stocks. Gates open at 5pm., qualifying at 6pm., and racing at 7:00pm. Pits open at 12pm. on Sat., there will be open practice on Friday night from 5-10pm.

It was a great season opening for the Florida Mini Sprint Association and the name of the game on this night …was “Let’s Boogie” as Orange Springs,Florida resident John Kahl brought his #13 HYPER chassis mini sprint home in first place when the feature event threw the checkered flag.
21 racers signed in the pit shack and three heats kicked off the start of the 2013 points season and “The Quest for The Championship” at the Lake City 3/8 mile semi banked dirt oval.
Heat number 1 was won by the 2012 FMSA Champion Eddie Moss Jr. #8 of Deland,Florida followed by John Kahl #13,David Hall #67,Dirk Miller #68,John Crowder #30,Sheldon Kinser Jr. #56Jr. and Ken Penta #24 (more…)
