Driver Appreciation Night At Bubba Raceway Park

IMG_1093-2Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Limited Sprints, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put on some impressive racing on Driver Appreciation Night, a way for Bubba to reward the drivers with free entry for the night.

The Limited Late Models opened up the night, but Jason Pope tried to climb the fence out of turn four. Pope would climb out of the car, but his night was over. Tim Powers would open up a lead after the restart, but it went away on lap five when Shane Koperda spun in turn one. Powers again pulled away, just to see his lead disappear when Chuck Jackson looped his #0 in turn two. Powers quickly put a few seconds on Shane Koperda and Tyler Clem- in a damaged race car- who were battling for second. Powers would win an easy one over Koperda, Forrest Gough, Kevin Mills, and Clem.
Our very own Hobby Stocks would be up second, and Smokin’ Joe Belkey, Jr. took control of the point early. David McCormack would lead lap two after Belkey washed up the track. The culprit was found on lap four when Belkey brought the caution out with a flat tire. McCormack, Tim Powers, Mike Stalnaker, and Brian Morgan rocketed away from the pack and put on a tussle. Stalnaker would lead lap six, but lost control in turn two and made contact with Powers. Powers would pit with a flat right rear, among other damages, while Stalnaker would go back on the hook. McCormack, Morgan, and Sean Monoghan would lead the field back to green on lap six. Brian Morgan would slip up and make contact with team-mate McCormack that sent both cars around; Morgan would go to the tail with no troubles and McCormack would bring the field back to green. Sunoco 100 presented by KARNAC.com

1005480_10200206064822235_1609768351_nThis past Saturday night saw the FL United Promoters Series return to “The Friendliest Track in the South” Citrus Co. Speedway for the running of the Sunoco 100 Presented by Karnac.com. With twenty two Super Late Models and fifteen Legends making the trip to Inverness for another night of spectacular racing in all classes. At the wave of the green, the field chased Sarasota’s Jesse Dutilly for 26 laps as he built a commanding lead before the nights 1st caution can out for a broken radiator on the #47 of Keith Zarvel.  Back to racing Daniel Webster worked his way from his 7th position starting spot to overtake Dutilly on lap thirty nine. Webster checked out from the rest of the field lapping everyone but the top five with the help of a long green flag run until lap 74 for a spin by Naples Billy Bigley Jr.. On the restart Anderson SC competitor Eric Stokes collected Daryl Shelnut, George Gorham Jr. and track favorite Scott Grossenbacher going into turn one, all four were done for the night. With Webster in the lead, he was challenged by Mike Bresanhan and series points leader Wayne Anderson who had come from his 11th starting spot. After 3 outside lane restarts Webster’s “Hot Rod” was to strong for Bresanhan and Anderson, at the checkered it was Webster, Bresanhan, Anderson, Jeff Scofield, rookie contender Anthony Cataldi rounding out the top five. In the 6th -10th slots were Herb Neumann Jr., Dutilly, Dylan Bigley, Daniel Keene Jr. & Todd Brown (more…)

Huber Crosses the Line by a Bumper to Win the 40 Lap Pro Truck Feature

IMG_1518A Full night of classes were on the racing card for the night at the Full Throttle Speedway Aug 10th.  After a few weeks break, the Full Throttle Speedway returned to racing action with 9 classes that had some great racing action.

To welcome the fans back to racing the Q106 radio station had a remote and tent set up with give aways, along with the team from J.D. Byrider that had a drawing for free gas card.

First on the track was the Rookie 4 class, made up of beginner racers that are sixteen or younger. It was Sherry Best that made a clean sweep of the night by winning the heat and feature. Hard charging Zach Rogers was second and Jimmy Best was third.

Cowboy Cadillacs may be few but what a show they put on for the fans. While John Pummell jr was out front the battle was between Mike True and Mike Balecki who were nose to tail, side by side and fighting hard for position. With two to go, Bilecki was running out of time, and brought out the caution for spinning True. When the checkers flew it was Pummell, Bilecki made his way by True to finish second while True settled for third.

T.Q. Midgets took to the track minus the 17 of Mark Gimmler who hit the wall pretty hard when his throttle stuck in practice, Mark was ok but did not make the feature. This twenty five lap feature clearly seemed to belong to Steven Meier of Port St. Lucy who was leading from the drop of the green. With some pressure from the thirty of Rob Kohler who was closing in on Meier and looking at the half way sign from the flagman, Meier’s night ended on lap fourteen when his car flipped. Meier was ok but that opened the door for Kohler out of Naples to bring home the win but was challenged hard by second finisher, Mike Belusar of Punta Gorda. Chris Gimmler from Palm Beach came in third.

It was the Triple Crown Race # 3 for the Champ Karts. Fourteen Karts took the green for twenty five laps that saw no cautions so it was drafting, racing, lapping, three wide at times. Tim Simmons led most of the laps but when the checkers came out and it was Brian Scherrer who led the last few laps and crossed the line first. Simmons came in second while Wesley Gonzalez was third. New OSW GM Jimbo Chadwick in victory lane with Wayne Anderson following this years' Billie Harvey Memorial race.

New OSW GM Jimbo Chadwick in victory lane with Wayne Anderson following this years’ Billie Harvey Memorial race.

It was announced today that Jimbo Chadwick of New Smyrna Beach, FL has been named to fill the vacant General Manager position at Orlando SpeedWorld.  Chadwick has a long background in racing, starting as a driver at South Florida tracks, then by operating Chadwick Race Cars, Inc. in Pompano Beach from 1986 through 1997.  After moving to North Carolina, Chadwick ran a marketing and promotions company called Showtime, Inc., building show cars and promotional items for such NASCAR Sprint Cup teams as Hendrick Motorsports, Roush Racing and Penske Racing.  Now, after returning recently to Florida, Chadwick will take on the job of actually running a race track for the first time but says he is up to the challenge.  Plans are to run an open practice on Friday evening, August 23, with the first scheduled racing event to take place the following night, Saturday, August 24.  Classes that to be in action that night will be made known early next week so teams will have ample time to prepare.

Driver Appreciation Night At Bubba Raceway Park!

BRP LogoJim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Limited Sprint Cars will tackle the 3/8 mile oval, as will the Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. All drivers receive free entry for this week-end’s races and all drivers have a shot at a $1000 prize!
The Limited Sprints will make their first appearance of the season, but the same cast should be playing similar roles. Matt Kurtz and Danny Martin, Jr. have dominated the Sprint Car ranks for the past three seasons, but drivers like “Captain” Tony Agin, Terry Witherspoon, and Robbie Smith are closing in on a big win. With a different rules package for the Limited Sprints, we could see a magical run dethrone Kurtz and Martin, but it won’t be the easiest thing to do.
In what will be the third Limited Late Model race of 2013, Tim Powers and Tyler Clem enter as the drivers with victories. Powers has more Hobby Stock wins than Clem has years on earth, but the eleven year old Clem will be looking for back-to-back victories. Nahunta, Georgia’s JO Nobles, last year’s division champion, will join the fight up front and make it a battle of the states after his impressive win in his Late Model last week. (more…)

Rudolph was okay and she said car would be ready to race next weekend. On the restart Amundsen would lead again until the next caution came out on lap four as Yates spun in turn three. On the restart it was Amundsen leading with Hohlbaugh right on his back bumper as the two would cross the line side by side and Hohlbaugh taking over on lap six. Loyalty

BRP LogoJim Rouse – Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators put on an incredible show to reward the incredible fans at Bubba Raceway Park.
Our very own Bubba Army Hobby Stocks opened us up with outside pole sitter Mike Stalnaker snatching the lead away from Trevor Gamble. On lap six Devin Walker and Sean Monoghan ended a fantastic battle for fourth with their bumpers stuck together in turn one. Gamble would use the restart to take the lead away from Stalnaker, but the fight was far from over. Just past the halfway mark in turn one, Gamble slipped high and allowed Stalnaker to sweep below him to retake the lead. Just a few laps later Devin Walker, racing for his Grandfather who passed away during the week, encountered trouble in turn four. Stalnaker and Gamble went at it into turn one with Gamble nearly losing second to Heath Walker in the process. “Hometown Hero” Mike Stalnaker held on for his first win in the Hobby Stocks while Gamble had to settle for second. Heath Walker held on to finish third over Joe Belkey, Jr. and Joey Forsyth. (more…)
