Bright House Challenge Series expands

Desoto speedway Management team is pleased to announce the partnership with the Bright House Challenge Series & New Smyrna Speedway.

As the Bright House Challenge Series heads into it’s 9th year, the Series will grow beyond the walls of New Smyrna Speedway. In 2014, the series will go across the great State of Florida three times to Desoto Speedway beginning with the Icebreaker 100 on February 1st. (more…)

Hangover Derby!

The Limited Late Models and Scorpion Modifieds will each race for $1000 and the 1-800 ASK GARY Thunder Stocks and Hobby Stocks each have $2000 on the line. The best in the business will be up to the task to grab some cash and maybe knock some rust off too! Pit gates open at 4, grandstands at. 5, and racing is scheduled for 7. Bristol Takes Over as GM, Jackman Hired as Race Director at Citrus and More

Citrus LogoInverness FL. 12-31-13 – Citrus owner Gary Laplant has named Rick Bristol GM at Citrus County Speedway for the 2014 sea on.  Bristol has begun hiring officials as he works to make Citrus a great place to race !
Bristol hired Darren Jackson to work with Donnie Lewis in the tech area late last season, he has now hired Veteran official Scott Jackman as race director at the speedway, ” Scott has a lot of experience around the state and I am happy to have him join us at Citrus” stated Bristol. Jackman worked for Fascar and race directed several series over the years. He also has done the Charity 200 Race Weekend the last two years. 
Bristol has also hired Eric Reynolds, a friend who worked for him at Orlando and on the Pro-Truck series. Eric will handle the back gate flagging and pit steward duties this season. Also Bristol has hired his wife Carla a banker of 30 years to handle the Offices on race day, and there are other people being talked to about tickets sales and more. 
Laplant and Bristol have some things to announce about purse changes, and some other things for the new year. That info will be out in the next week or so and at banquet Jan 11th, along with info on the Citrus Super 8 Pro-Truck Series and more !
There are many exciting things being worked on and planned for the new season and they hope fans, drivers and crews will come be a part of some great racing and events in 2014.

Florida State Dirt Championship Races A Success at Bubba Raceway Park

The Florida State Championships were a hit for the Late Models, Scorpion UMP Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Mini Sprints, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, TQ Late Models, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators as all eight winners would take home some cash and a beautiful championship ring.
Limited Late Models kicked the night off with Forrest Gough leading the pack as many others struggled in the opening laps. Cecil Eunice would grab the lead from Gough on lap eight as they opened up a half lap over the field. A caution with eight to go would give 2013 division champion Tyler Clem a shot at Eunice and Gough but he wouldn’t make the most of it. 22 99 14 77 61
The Mini Sprints started with Robbie Smith toppling his #77 in turn two. Smith would continue on after the yellow with Jim Young, Connor Borah, and Austin Craddock leading the way. A toople by Robby Hoffman would halt the field on lap four and leave Young to hold off Eddie Moss, Jr. and David Hall. On lap 17, Connor Borah would make contact with traffic and go for a wild tumble in turn four as Jim Young was closing in on lapping him. Borah would climb out of the wreckage under his own power. Young would take a dominant win over Eddie Moss, Jr., David Hall, Austin Craddock, and Kenny Brewer. (more…)

Danny Martin Wins Race and Points Champion 2013

Danny Martin at Hendry CountyThe Eagle Jet/Top Gun Sprints made their fifth visit of 2013 to the Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston on Saturday December 14, 2013. There were 16 cars at the track to give fans two heat races, and a 25 lap feature race.

The heat races are lined up using a pill pull system, and Tim George in the 1* had the pole for the start of the WELD RACING heat race with Ken Laureno in the 36 on the outside, Tim took the race lead, on the first lap 3A,15,and 36 got together and AJ was not able to restart. On the restart Tim took the lead, till Danny Martin in the 24 took the lead and the win. Gene Lasker had the pole for the start of the BROWN & MILLER heat race in the 02 car with Johnny Alexander in the 3T on the outside, Gene  took the initial race lead and went on to take the heat win, but forgot to go to scales so was DQed. That gave the win to Kyle Pitts in the 7 car.

During the intermission drivers and their cars was on the front stretch signing autographs and handing out RAD (Race Against Drugs) coloring books.

Using a passing points system to line up the feature race and an eight car inversion, Mike Schroeder in the 6 car had the pole for the start of the EAGLE JET feature race, with Johnny Alexander in the 3T car on the outside. The race got underway with Mike leading and Lap 1 seen first red caution with Billy Boyd flipping in turn 2 ending his night. On the restart it was Mike in the lead with Tyler Godwin closing in. Lap 9 the 10X of Sean Clark got tapped coming out 4 and spun into front stretch wall bring out the 2 red of the night. On the restart it Tyler got around Mike, then with two laps to go Danny Martin went high and Tyler went low around lapped traffic and Danny came out first and took the lead and the win. Tyler Godwin in the 82 finished in second place, followed by Shane Kreidler in the 52, Kyle Pitts in the 7, with AJ Maddox in the 3A car finishing out the top 5. The KSE Hard Charger Award went to AJ Maddox in the 3A car; Danny also won the Jeff Barfield Sweep of $400. Danny Martin wins 2013 Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints Points Champion. (more…)

Florida State Championships To Bring The Best In The Business Out Once More

12-20-21-2013-4Ocala, FL- Bubba Raceway Park will open it’s gates less than 96 hours from Christmas and will send eight drivers home with wins and a combined $6850 to spend on last minute gifts or maybe race car parts. Better yet, those eight will be forever remembered as Champions of the race AND get that beautiful Super Bowl-style ring.

The Late Models will race with $2000 on the line and with names such as Mark Whitener, Ivedent Lloyd, Jr., Tyler Ivey, Rich Pratt, and Jason Fitzgerald leading the fight you know it’ll be a good one. Others such as Tyler Clem and Jeff Mathews will have work to do to join Whitener as a champion of this prestigious event.

The Scorpion UMP Modifieds have a four-way championship battle between Charlie O’Neill, Pratt, Mathews, and Scott Kurtzner but defending champion Kyle Bronson, PJ Wiggins Memorial champion Paul Snyder, and rookie Bryan Bernhardt will all try to play spoiler and grab a ring and $1250. (more…)

JOEY COULTER WINS CAUTION-PLAGUED CHARITY 100 TRUCK RACE – RECORD AMOUNT RAISED

Coulter 4For the third year, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Joey Coulter had his name attached to the running of the Charity Trucker’s 100 race. However, this year was different as he actually raced in the event and, he not only ran in the race at Auburndale Speedway, but won it too!  An outstanding field of 26 trucks assembled on Friday for preliminary practice and qualifying. When all was said and done, young Dylan Martin of Lakeland had set quick time at 14.600 seconds to earn the $100 fast qualifier award
from Southern Air Compressor Service, Inc. On Saturday, Martin pulled the eight pill, inverting the top eight qualifiers for the start of the 100-lap affair. More importantly, Martin presented event organizer Rick Bristol and Coulter with a check for $3331.67 that he alone had raised for the families being supported by this years race.
With a large crowd watching, it was Michael Pilla taking the early lead from his pole starting spot as outside pole-sitter Jessica Murphy got hung out on the top lane while Coulter, Brian Harbin, Steve Darvalics and Mica Williams moved up. (more…)

Southern Super Series To Visit GMP Twice In 2014

SGMP LogoJEFFERSON, GA – The Southern Super Series today announced that Gresham Motorsports Park would host a pair of high-profile Super Late Model Stock Car events in 2014.

GMP will host one event – a 125-lap battle – on Saturday, July 12. The second Southern Super Series race at GMP will be the 31st-Annual World Crown 300 on Saturday, August 9, 2014.

There will be 15 Southern Super Series races at five different tracks throughout the Southeast in 2014.

April 25- 5 Flags Speedway, Pensacola, FL

April 26- Mobile (AL) International Speedway

Keith Nosbisch Wins Late Model Topless 50 On The Final Night Of The 2013 Season At East Bay Raceway Park

K-Nosbisch-12-14-13Tampa, FL  – It was the final night of the 2013 Season as the 30 Late Models signed in to run Topless for the $1,500 to win Feature Event. Also racing were the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks, V8 Warriors, Florida Old Time Modifieds, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers and the Outlaw Fours who also would run topless for their feature event.

The first to run after intermission as kids lined up to see Mr. & Mrs Santa Claus would be the B-Main taking the top four into the A-Main as 4 heats were run earlier taking the top five advancing to the A-Main. Winning the B-Main would be Matt Miller and also making the A-Main would be David Pollen, Jr., Travis Varnadore and Kyle Bronson. Bronson had to go to a back-up car and start at the tail end of the B-Main and advancing by finishing fourth.
Next would be the Outlaw Fours feature. Winning their heats were Brittany Yates and Zach Amundsen. For the front row it would be point’s leader Jesse James Foster and Billy Howard. Foster would take the green and would lead the first four laps until Don T. Quinn spun in turn two. Lap five it would be Howard would slow on the front stretch bringing out the second caution of the night. On the next restart Foster would lead until the next lap when Brittany Yates took over the lead but the caution would come out giving Foster back the lead. On the restart Foster and Yates battled side by side and on lap seven it was Yates taking over the lead and went on to win her first feature of the year. Finishing second was Foster as he became the 2013 Points Champion for the Outlaw Fours finishing ahead of second place in points Nick Hebrank. Finishing third would be Brandon Yates as Zach Amundsen and Jake Hampton rounded out the top five. (more…)
