What Rain?

20130609-095717.jpgOcala, FL- Bubba Raceway Park had 6 divisions on tap as all other tracks in Florida suffered with the water. The Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds, E-Mods, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put on spectacular shows and left the fans wanting more of the excitement!

The Hobby Stocks opened the night up, and Brian Morgan took his #9 straight to the top. The opening half saw a coupld of cautions for spins by Bubba Christian, but Donnie Ashford couldn’t muster up enough to get around Morgan. Ashford brought out the final yellow with 4-to-go after a spin in turn 2. Morgan fended the pack off and went back-to-back, the first driver to do so in the division this season. “The Bridesmaid” Scotty Kay, Jr. has been cursed with that nickname until he can go 1 spot better as he finished 2nd for the 3rd time. Rodney Wright finished 3rd with Dennis Williams and Trent Wilson the top 5.

Six Divisions To Tackle Bubba Raceway Park This Saturday

Bubba Raceway Park Logo copyJim Rouse, BRP Media Ocala, FL – The Bubba Army Late Models will return for the first time since April 6th, and they will be joined by the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, Bubba Raceway Park E-Mods, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. The Hobby Stocks will battle for $600 and the E-Mods will fight for a $750 payday.
After a long rest, the Bubba Army Late Models return to Bubba Raceway Park with Anthony’s Rich Pratt on top of the standings. While that may be familar and deserving for Pratt, he has yet to fulfill the final part of his mission- visit Coors Light Winner’s Circle. He’s already done that in the Modified ranks, but has yet to do so in his AirGas-sponsored Late Model that is now in his former colors. Just fifteen points behind him is Versailes, Indiana’s Bryan Bernhardt, the Bubba Army Performance Engines #B69 driver who took his Crate Late Model to the top earlier this year. Bernhardt, now trying to master three disciplines, hopes to steal the spotlight- and with it, the points lead- from Pratt. Placed third is the Wells Farms driver out of Jacksonville, “The DeRailer” Darrell Padgett. Padgett won the last race, but any advantage from then may be gone. (more…)

Championship Races Take Wild Turns At Bubba Raceway Park

BRP LogoJim Rouse, BRP Media Ocala, FL- The Hobby Stocks, E-Mods, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all returned to Bubba Raceway Park while the Limited Late Models ran a special $600-to-win feature and the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks ran a $500-to-win race.
The Hobby Stocks put on an impressive show and by lap 4 it was Heath Walker up front in the Suwanee Salvage #55. On lap ten he was overtaken by Mike Stalnaker in his brand new #8. Just two laps later, Alvin Adkison brought out the first caution when he spun in turn 4. Stalnaker lost the lead on lap 14 as Brian Morgan was too much to handle in his #9. Morgan held on through two late cautions to win the race. Stalnaker finished bridesmaid once more with Devin Walker taking third and the points lead. Heath Walker and Sean Monoghan rounded out the top five.
Shane Nichols led the opening ten-lap stint before a competition caution came out, and a message as well- Bubba made it clear to Nichols: “If you drop to the tail and come back to win, I’ll give you $200.” (more…)

Action Begins To Heat Up At Bubba Raceway Park

20130528-200748.jpgJim Rouse – Ocala, FL- A June 1st race is always nice, and we’ll run our Bubba Army 360 Sprints, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, E-Mods, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. We also have a Fan Lawnmower Race scheduled.

The Bubba Army Sprints have a wild top five in points as both of the points-paying feature winners- Matt Kurtz and Danny Martin, Jr.- have missed a race. That has allowed Robbie Smith to put his Cosmo’s Cafe #6S at the top. (more…)

Memorable Action On Memorial Day Week-End At Bubba Raceway Park

20130526-133138.jpgJim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army 360 Sprints headlined the night with the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds, Hobby Stocks- who raced for $750, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators taking part as well.
The Scorpion Modifieds kicked the action off and Rich Pratt took the Woodstown Ice and Coal #78 right to the front. Pratt, a heat race winner, ran a dominant race and won easily over the other heat winner Bryan Bernhardt and Chuck Gustafson, Jr. In fact, Pratt nearly lapped Gustafson and beat Bernhardt by over 13 seconds. Pratt now has at least 1 win in each season he’s driven the #78. Chris Littrell was the first car 1 lap down in 4th and Jeff Stalnaker, Sr. finished 5th after a 3,000-mile flight earlier in the day. The Biggest Week In Motorsports

BRP LogoOcala, FL- The professionals all have huge events this week-end (The Grand Prix of Monaco, The Indianapolis 500, and the World 600) but Bubba Raceway Park has a huge night of racing to challenge. The Bubba Army 360 Sprint Cars return while the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, the Bubba Army Hobby Stocks who will race for $750, the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators defend their turf.
The Bubba Army Sprint Cars have a shocker a top the standings- Danny Martin, Jr. is the leader. Okay, “The Hammer” has been here plenty of times but he does have Robbie Smith and “The Captain” Tony Agin on his tail. While Smith and Agin have been quite succesful at the 3/8 mile, neither has won in quite some time. Johnny Gilbertson made his first trip to Bubba Raceway Park in the Bubba Era and found himself P4 in the standings. Rookie driver Andy Cobb rounds out the top five after an impressive debut so far. It’s hammer down if they’re to beat “The Hammer”.
The Scorpion Modifieds see experience on top as the top two have won all four features this season. Buzzie Reutimann is the points leader and has been all year long; however, Jeff Mathews is just forty-four points behind. Mathews has won three-consecutive and is currently undefeated in Modified competition at the 3/8 mile. (more…)

First Timers and Four Timers

20130506-202550.jpgJim Rouse, Ocala, FL – The NeSmith Crate Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all tackled the 3/8 mile and it was intense for every one.

Buzzie Reutimann opened the Modifieds up with the lead but lost it to fellow heat race winner Jeff Mathews on lap 5. Reutimann actually spun on lap 8 and collected Paul Snyder which made both driver’s nights much more difficult. Cory Hupp spun on lap 16 setting up a 9-lap dash with Mathews leading team-mate Bryan Bernhardt and Chris Littrell. Mathews held his team-mate off for the win while Reutimann and Snyder rebounded to 3rd and 4th, respectively. Littrell rounded out the top 5.

Eric Moon jumped to P1 in the Hobby Stock event and held it through the lap 3 caution for a Don Woosley spin. On lap 8, Moon was overtaken by Brian Shea for the lead and retired on lap 14 after heavy contact with Jerome Dipple. James Erickson got around Shea and then they spun each other after Shea ran out of talent. In the end, Don Woosley took home a huge win simply by surviving (and making his mistake early). Erickson finished 2nd over Shea, heat race winner Rebecca Paugh, and Chuck Cessna. James Sullivan, III won the other heat. (more…)

Try It Again

Bubba Raceway Park Logo copyJim Rouse,  Ocala, FL – After a wash-out on May 11th, Bubba made the call to re-schedule the race for this up-coming week-end and he’s added an extra division! The NeSmith Crate Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, Rent-N-Roll Gladiators, and now the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks will take to the 3/8 mile for some action. The Bigwheel Race will also be run at Intermission. Don’t miss this big show!
Versailes, Indiana’s Bryan Bernhardt leads Dover, Florida’s “The Repo Man” Jeff Mathews in a tight battle in the Crate Late Models. St.Petersburg, Florida’s rising son, Tyler Clem, is third and could leave as the youngest points leader- and youngest NeSmith sanctioned event winner- with a slip-up by the front two. Lakeland’s Kenny Monohan and Dade City’s Shan Smith round out the top five. Plenty of others will join them as they chase victory in this impressive division.
The age jokes are getting quite old in the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds. Now aged seventy-two, Zephyrhills, Florida’s Buzzie Reutimann holds a lead over Belleview’s Charlie O’Neill. (more…)

Rain, Rain, Stay Away

20130506-202550.jpgJim Rouse, Ocala, FL- After the Mike Peters Open was postponed for the “R-word,” we hope to get back to action at Bubba Raceway Park. The NeSmith Crate Late Models are on tap as well as the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. Those 4 divisions will bring the heat but may be overshadowed by the Bigwheel Race for the fans.

Bryan Bernhardt is incredible. The driver out of Versailles, IN, has all 3 cars he has driven in the top 5 in points and that includes the Bubba Raceway Park Crate Late Models points lead. As he tries to keep his Bubba Army Performance Engines #B69 up front it’ll be Dover, Florida’s Jeff Mathews chasing him in the Gator Core Recycling #33. Mathews owns Bernhardt’s Modified ride so that just adds to the tight battle between the two. Tyler Clem is in an outstanding third place and sits just nineteen points behind the leader. (more…)
