You’ve Got To See It To Believe It

IMG_2373Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL – The Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, and 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks were all offered the big money with no car count limits and no entry fees for 30-lap events while the Florida Mini Sprints and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators joined them for a fantastic night of racing at Bubba Raceway Park. Also, over $500 was put up by wonderful sponsors in AP Motor Sales, Dirts 4 Racing, Jeremy with Rocky’s Villa Restaurant in Orange Lake, American Choice RV, Don Milam’s Auto Dr.’s of Ocala, Rick Elwood at L&R Racing Products, 100 Proof Saloon, Marion Machine And Tool, D&R Chassis, Mike Peters, and Davey Kinsey’s Power House Machine Shop.
The Mini Sprints opened it up with Dirk Miller running away from the pack before Daniel Bagley spun his #12 on lap two. John Moss would steal the lead on the restart as Miller slipped to third. Nick Snyder would use a mid-race restart to steal the lead with just three laps left. On the final lap, Eddie Moss, Jr. attempted to overtake his brother John and the lapped car of Scott Kreuger, but Eddie clipped the entrance of turn one and went into a wild spin and easy barrel roll. Moss would climb from the wreckage under his own power. Snyder, John Moss, and Connor Borah would bring the field back to life for a one lap dash with Snyder holding off Moss, David Hall, Dirk Miller, and Borah for the win. (more…)

Big Money On The Line At Bubba Raceway Park!

IMG_2238Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- With just three months left until the season ends with the Nesmith World Championships (though the second half of the Florida State Championship Races are in late December), Bubba wants to start the final third of the year off with money on the line. The Limited Late Models have $1200, Hobby Stocks have $1100 (yes, $1100), and the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks have $1000 up for grabs with NO ENTRY FEES AND NO MINIMUM CAR COUNTS. Joining them will be the Florida Mini Sprints and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. Also, don’t forget about the practice session on Friday night!
Tyler Clem, one of three winners in the Limited Late Models this year, has a 20 point advantage in the standings, but two tough races has kept Chuck Jackson closer than what Clem would like. Jackson sits just 20 back, and he has a 49 point advantage over Jason Pope for second. Tim Powers has won both events he has entered this year and Nevin Gainey has been pretty good as well with a win last week and a podium to go with it. JO Nobles hasn’t won yet, but the defending division champion can never be counted out.
Devin Walker has a nearly 300 point lead over Brian Shea after Walker went runner-up last week-end. (more…)

August Ends With Action At Bubba Raceway Park

IMG_2287Jim Rouse – Ocala, FL-The Bubba Army 360 Sprint Cars, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, TQ Late Models, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put on spectacular shows on a cool night at Bubba Raceway Park.
The Bubba Army Hobby Stocks kicked off the night with Devin Walker and Mike Stalnaker running away from the pack. Walker would lead the opening seven before Scott Washam spun exiting turn four. On lap ten, Stalnaker pulled out a daring crossover on Devin Walker, but contact resulted in Walker spinning. A great battle was over with Stalnaker pitting for a right front tire. Eric Moon rocketed to the lead on the restart with Walker falling into second, right in front of his father. “The Lunar Lander” Eric Moon took home his first career win at Bubba Raceway Park with Walker slotted in behind him. Stalnaker rallied to third while Joey Forsyth took home a solid fourth place finish and Heath Walker completed the top five.
Our Limited Late Models kicked action off with Kevin Mills, Tyler Clem, and Shane Koperda getting into a turn one melee with Clem and Mills retiring with excessive damage. On the next restart, leader Jordan Lockhart lost his left front and started a wreck that involved JO Nobles and Shane Koperda. Both would continue, but Lockhart was done for the night. Nevin Gainey would take the lead with JO Nobles and Shanke Koperda in tow. They would remain in that order with Gainey winning over Nobles, Koperda, Chuck Jackson, and Jordan Lockhart. (more…)

It’s Not Funny Anymore- Stay Away Rain!

08312013Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- After our second consecutive rain-out at Bubba Raceway Park, it’s getting pretty aggravating. The Bubba Army 360 Sprints will try to be the deterrent of the rain, while the Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, TQ Late Models, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators have received the call as well. It’s set to be a great night of racing this Saturday!
In the Bubba Army 360 Sprints, Robbie Smith holds an eight point advantage over “Capatian” Tony Agin. Both drivers are winless at the track since the reconversion to dirt in 2008, but both are very consistent. A couple more winless drivers sit within 25 of the leader in Terry Witherspoon (-22) and rookie Andy Cobb (-24). AJ Maddox completes the top five, but sits 37 back after a couple of rough finishes. Danny Martin, Jr. and Matt Kurtz have a win each in the points paying rounds, and Kurtz has a non-points win on the season.
Tyler Clem holds a 16 point advantage over Jason Pope in the Limited Late Models after three rounds, one of which was won by now-11-year-old Clem. Chuck Jackson sits a further seven back, while Tim Powers- two time winner in 2013- is fourth, 46 back. Forrest Gough continues to see wins go to the wayside with misfortunes, but it will make that win so much sweeter. We’ll see what’s in store in this wild division as they take to the track for the fourth time in 2013. (more…)

Rain Still Sucks

082420138aa554.jpgJim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Florida Mini Sprints will all try their hand on the 3/8 mile at Bubba Raceway Park.

Rich Pratt currently has a 66-point lead over young Tyler Clem at the top of the Late Model pile. Pratt comes off of a runner-up finish while Clem’s last outing wasn’t as delightful. Mark Whitener is now 100 markers back, even with his two wins on the season. A further 21 back is Bryan Bernhardt who sits just 13 ahead of Jeff Mathews. The best will be gunning for the front and a new winner could rise from the dust.

The Scorpion Modifieds have Charlie O’Neill leading the way, but his lead is just a slim three points over Jeff Mathews who has been dominant this year, much like he was from 2008-2011. Scott Kurtzner sits 28 out of the lead, but he’s looking to break through with a win. Bryan Bernhardt sits 31 points out of the lead and Rich Pratt- looking for the season double- is 53 points out of the lead in a wide open division.

Devin Walker has built up a massive championship lead over Brian Shea in the Hobby Stock division. After a few runner-up finishes in his career, Walker has his eyes set on clinching the prize early. Sean Monoghan has sneaked into a very distant third after overtaking Hunter Gustafson in the season standings. Dennis Williams rounds out the top five in this wild division. (more…)

“Back To School Night” Falls Upon Bubba Raceway Park

08172013Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Nesmith Weekly Crate Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators will put on a final show for the kids before they make the dreaded trek (for them, anyways) back to school. We’ll also have Kiddy Rides and Kids Bike Races on this wonderful night on which backpacks and plenty of other great school supplies will be given away, all courtesy of Bubba Raceway Park and our wonderful drivers.

Charlie O’Neill continues his underdog reign of the championship lead in the Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, but his lead has dwindled to just three points over “Four-time” Jeff Mathews. Mathews, the 2008-2011 division champion, leads the division with four wins in seven features. Scott Kurtzner has the #1K in third, but he sits 28 behind the leader and only three ahead of Bryan Bernhardt, Mathews’ team-mate. Rich Pratt, the only other feature winner in the top five, sits over 50 points out of the lead, but it’s about wins for the Late Model points leader. (more…)

Driver Appreciation Night At Bubba Raceway Park

IMG_1093-2Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Limited Sprints, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put on some impressive racing on Driver Appreciation Night, a way for Bubba to reward the drivers with free entry for the night.

The Limited Late Models opened up the night, but Jason Pope tried to climb the fence out of turn four. Pope would climb out of the car, but his night was over. Tim Powers would open up a lead after the restart, but it went away on lap five when Shane Koperda spun in turn one. Powers again pulled away, just to see his lead disappear when Chuck Jackson looped his #0 in turn two. Powers quickly put a few seconds on Shane Koperda and Tyler Clem- in a damaged race car- who were battling for second. Powers would win an easy one over Koperda, Forrest Gough, Kevin Mills, and Clem.
Our very own Hobby Stocks would be up second, and Smokin’ Joe Belkey, Jr. took control of the point early. David McCormack would lead lap two after Belkey washed up the track. The culprit was found on lap four when Belkey brought the caution out with a flat tire. McCormack, Tim Powers, Mike Stalnaker, and Brian Morgan rocketed away from the pack and put on a tussle. Stalnaker would lead lap six, but lost control in turn two and made contact with Powers. Powers would pit with a flat right rear, among other damages, while Stalnaker would go back on the hook. McCormack, Morgan, and Sean Monoghan would lead the field back to green on lap six. Brian Morgan would slip up and make contact with team-mate McCormack that sent both cars around; Morgan would go to the tail with no troubles and McCormack would bring the field back to green. Driver Appreciation Night At Bubba Raceway Park!

BRP LogoJim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Limited Sprint Cars will tackle the 3/8 mile oval, as will the Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. All drivers receive free entry for this week-end’s races and all drivers have a shot at a $1000 prize!
The Limited Sprints will make their first appearance of the season, but the same cast should be playing similar roles. Matt Kurtz and Danny Martin, Jr. have dominated the Sprint Car ranks for the past three seasons, but drivers like “Captain” Tony Agin, Terry Witherspoon, and Robbie Smith are closing in on a big win. With a different rules package for the Limited Sprints, we could see a magical run dethrone Kurtz and Martin, but it won’t be the easiest thing to do.
In what will be the third Limited Late Model race of 2013, Tim Powers and Tyler Clem enter as the drivers with victories. Powers has more Hobby Stock wins than Clem has years on earth, but the eleven year old Clem will be looking for back-to-back victories. Nahunta, Georgia’s JO Nobles, last year’s division champion, will join the fight up front and make it a battle of the states after his impressive win in his Late Model last week. (more…)

Loyalty

BRP LogoJim Rouse – Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators put on an incredible show to reward the incredible fans at Bubba Raceway Park.
Our very own Bubba Army Hobby Stocks opened us up with outside pole sitter Mike Stalnaker snatching the lead away from Trevor Gamble. On lap six Devin Walker and Sean Monoghan ended a fantastic battle for fourth with their bumpers stuck together in turn one. Gamble would use the restart to take the lead away from Stalnaker, but the fight was far from over. Just past the halfway mark in turn one, Gamble slipped high and allowed Stalnaker to sweep below him to retake the lead. Just a few laps later Devin Walker, racing for his Grandfather who passed away during the week, encountered trouble in turn four. Stalnaker and Gamble went at it into turn one with Gamble nearly losing second to Heath Walker in the process. “Hometown Hero” Mike Stalnaker held on for his first win in the Hobby Stocks while Gamble had to settle for second. Heath Walker held on to finish third over Joe Belkey, Jr. and Joey Forsyth. (more…)
