Ocala, FL- For the first-time in the 2013 season we’ll have a 2-day show at Bubba Raceway Park for the Mike Peters Open. The United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series will be in action over the race week-end in a 70-lap shootout for $5000. Our Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds will battle for $3000 while the Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Florida Mini Sprints will attack the track as well. Late Models and Modifieds will qualify and heat race Friday night; all 5 divisions will race their features on Saturday.

Rich “The Brat” Pratt has his Groeb Farms #0 on the top of the standings board for the first time in recent memory but he doesn’t care because he hasn’t put his car in Coors Light Winner’s Circle yet. Pratt has gone back to his old paint scheme and is ready to go back to his winning ways as well. Bryan Bernhardt has won a Crate Late Model race in 2013 but has yet to take home the trophy in a Bubba Army Late Model show. Bernhardt will try to get his Bubba Army Performance Engines #B69 into Victory Lane, just as the Wells Farms sponsored driver Darrell Padgett did last time out. (more…)

Jim Rouse, BRP Media, Ocala, FL- Night of a Thousands was once more upon Bubba Raceway Park with the Bubba Army 360 Sprints, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all chasing the cash.

Hobby Stock action was first with Tommy Hill the original leader from outside pole. Grady Christian and Charlie Seroki spun early and kept the field tight enough for Jerome Dipple to lead a lap before spinning the #14 around. Dipple left Devin Walker with the lead but Walker relinquished it back to Hill. Tommy Hill was able to stave the threats from Walker and his team-mate, Scotty Kay, Jr., off to win the cool $1000. Kay made it a 1-2 while Walker settled for 3rd. Walker is now, unofficially, the points leader by a few points over Hunter Gustafson. Brian Hansford and Don Woosley completed the top 5. Gustafson, as well as Dennis Williams and Tim Gay, won their heat races.

Jim Rouse – After another successful Monster Jam Summer Heat event it’s time for the clay to see race cars again. With $1000 up for grabs for each of our 5 winners it’s bound to be a good one. The Bubba Army 360 Sprints return to th 3/8 mile as do the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators.

“The Jacksonville Jet” Matt Kurtz jumped out to his usual territory with an easy win last time out in the #92. Kurtz was followed across by Sport Allen and Terry Witherspoon. They sit that way in the standings as well with Kurtz at 65, Allen at 62, and Witherspoon at 59. Danny Martin, Jr. had mechanical problems that left him in the grandstands early while team-mate AJ Maddox couldn’t quite sneak into the top 3. Martin and Maddox hope to challenge in this next race and get the Edwards Concrete Team in Coors Light Winner’s Circle. (more…)

Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds headlined a 5-division night with the Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, Rent-N-Roll Gladiators, and Florida Mini Sprints that proved to be the best action of the season.

Our very own Hobby Stocks opened the night and Don Woosley jumped to the lead. Woosley had a career night early on but did lose the lead to William Edwards on lap 3. Richard Calmes, Jr., Brian Shea, and Alvin Adkison combined to bring out 5 cautions with solo spins on the night. On lap 6 it was “The Mayo Missile” Devin Walker stealing the lead from Edwards and, after a few solo spins- including a lap 9 spin by Edwards- from the previous 3, Walker held off his father, Heath, for the win. Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds will join the Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, Rent-N-Roll Gladiators, and the Florida Mini Sprints for a mega night of action on the 6th week-end of action at Bubba Raceway Park.

Age rules in the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds as Buzzie Reutimann, the UNOH-sponsored driver, leads the standings after a 1200th-or-so feature win. Reutimann is pursued by Larry Mott who comes off a career-night in which he won his heat and took 3rd place home in his Mott Concrete #Z06. Scott Kurtzner has the Interstate Batteries #1K in 3rd position while the other Scott- Scott Mooers- is 4th in the Aerotech Aluminum #10. Mooers will have to fight hard to hold off 5th-placed Ronnie Soltis. Soltis finished 2nd in the feature but didn’t start his heat in his all-new GRT Chassis. Reutimann has a tough task ahead if he’s to go 2-for-2. (more…)

Jim Rouse, BRP Media, Ocala, FL- Night of a Thousands was upon Bubba Raceway Park for the first time in 2013 with the Bubba Army Late Models, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, Rent-N-Roll Gladiators, and the Florida Mini Sprints. Fans were treated to some intense racing because some drivers will do anything for $1000.

The Florida Mini Sprints opened the night up with Rhea Lynne Moss on point. Moss led through a few 1-car cautions before being overtaken on lap 9 by John Kahl. Kahl led just 1 lap as Nick Snyder jumped to the point. Moss’s night ended in the pits as did Kahl’s after both ran strong early on. Snyder held on through 2 restarts and led the final 10 circuits to pick up his 1st win at Bubba Raceway Park. Eddie Moss, Jr. finished 2nd, Gavin Thomas was 3rd, David Hall drove to 4th, and “Hollywood” Scott Kreuger rounded out the top 5. (more…)

Jim Rouse, BRP Media – Ocala, FL- The first Night of a Thousands of 2013 at Bubba Raceway Park will highlight 4 divisions of tough racing and will include an Easter Egg Hunt on the frontstretch. After the hunt it’ll be time for the Bubba Army Late Models, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, Rent-N-Roll Gladiators, and Florida Mini Sprints Association to hunt for Coors Light Winner’s Circle and a place in the history books.

The Bubba Army Late Models kicked the 2013 season off with a 50-lap thriller in conjunction with the UDLMCS and it was Kyle Bronson who found himself the winner. Bronson is, of course, the points leader, however, “Catfish” Keith Nosbisch is just 2 points behind him. Nosbisch won 2 races last season but they both came on Friday nights and he’ll hope to break the Saturday-night curse this week. Rich Pratt quietly finished 3rd and feels like a new driver as he enters the season. Pratt has returned to his old days and is back in the red and yellow paint scheme that he always loved. Kenny Monohan has been quick this season with 2 top-5’s at the 3/8 mile after a podium finish in his Crate Late Model. Monohan will hope to make that the rule and hold 5th-place Brandon DeWitt off both on the track and on the points board. (more…)
