David Reutimann Wins 50 Lap Open Wheel Modified Race At East Bay Raceway Park

December 1, 2012 – Tampa, FL – It was a night for the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds as they ran for 50 Laps paying $2,000 in the David Reutimann Foundation 50. It was also a battle to the end for the Late Models as it was their last night for the points battle. Also racing were the Florida Old Time Mods, V8 Warriors and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

Before the feature events were to begin, Dianne Menendez won the auction from the David Reutimann Foundation on Friday November 23rd at the Siverado Golf & Country Club. David was the driver and when they completed the session, Dianne had a grin from ear to ear and said it was well worth it. David thanked all the fans for coming out and East Bay for putting on the Foundation 50 for the Modifieds.

First feature event of the night went to the Florida Old Time Mods. Richard Svenson and Jamie Frankland won their heat races. For the front row of the feature it was Mark Steve and Richard Svenson. Svenson led the first seven laps until Jamie Franklin took over the top spot with Roger Herbach and Dan Darnell chasing him down. Franklin went on to win the feature as they run the entire race caution free. Darnell finished second with Herbach, Rich Iverson and Svenson rounding out the top five.

Next was the David Reutimann Foundation 50 for the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds. Winning their heats were David Pollen, Jr., David Reutimann and Dalton Lanich. For the front row of the feature it was Matt Miller and Lanich. On the initial green flag in turn two, Rich Pratt and Roger Crouse tangled ending Crouse’s night. So it would be a complete restart. When the green waved again, Pollen, Jr. led the field into turn one. The first caution would come out on lap four as several drivers tangled in turn two. One car not involved in the incident was Devin Dixon. Dixon’s night ended as he headed into the pits after running in the second position. Reutimann who was third at the time moved up to second. FASTRAK Racing Series to Start “Decade of Grassroots SPEED” at East Bay Winternationals in 2013

Entering its 10th season of racing, “A Decade of Grassroots SPEED” the FASTRAK Racing Series announced during the “FASTRAK World Championship Weekend” in Beckley, West Virginia that it will sanction 3 nights of racing at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida as a part of the 37th Annual DART Winternationals. The series will make its first visits in history to Florida on Wednesday, January 30th through Saturday, February 2nd at the historic 1/3 mile oval located near Tampa, Florida. “We owe this to all of our teams. This situation came about because of them and for that we are very grateful. This is a very exciting time for us at FASTRAK as we move into our 10th Anniversary Season.” exclaimed Stan Lester of FASTRAK Companies International.

East Bay Raceway Park’s Al Varnadore stated the following in a phone interview with FASTRAK Companies PR Director Wesley Outland early Tuesday morning and backed it on the FASTRAK Weekly LIVE Radio forums Tuesday night saying. “I thoroughly believe that Pro (crate) Late Model racing on Dirt is truly going to be the next big thing as it’s already taking shape all over the country. We have had other regional crate series be a part of the Winternationals in the past but we feel that the “visionary brainchild” Stan Lester who created (crate) late model dirt racing to begin with back in 2004 has now taking the original FASTRAK Racing Series through leaps and bounds and as they launch forward to their 10 Anniversary “Decade of Grassroots SPEED”  I feel is the right Series to kick off a new change to open the 37th DART Winternationals to start the 2013 season at East Bay.”   (more…)

AJ Maddox Makes It Two In A Row For The Top Gun Sprints At East Bay Raceway Park

November 17, 2012 – Tampa, FL – The Top Gun Sprints returned for the final event of the 2012 Season. Along with them were the Florida Old Time Mods, Outlaw Fours and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

The first event of the night belonged to the Florida Old Time Mods. Tom McDonald and Dan Darnell won their heat races. For the feature event it was Mark Steve and Robert Campbell.  When the green waved it was Roger Herbach charging up to take over the lead by lap one. On Lap seven, Dan Darnell came from the back of the pack to take over the lead and never looked back as they went twelve laps without a caution and Darnell picked up the win. Michael Davis, Jamie Frankland, Roger Herbach and Lars Amundsen rounded out the top five.

Next were the Outlaw Fours. Brandon Yates and Nick Hebrank won their heat races and also made up the front row for the feature. Hebrank took the lead on the first lap, but on lap four, Dorsey Strickland took over the top spot. The first caution of the race came on the next lap as Bill Mort and Hebrank tangled in turn two. The green waved again and Strickland led the field for the next five laps. On lap ten, Billy Howard made a move to try and take over the top spot in turn four. He had it just for a moment as Strickland regained the lead on the front stretch.  Several more cautions came out, but when the checkered waved it was Strickland crossing the line first with Hohlbaugh second, Scotty Williams, Raymond Folwell and Brandon Yates fifth. But after tech inspections, Strickland was found illegal which handed the win over to Hohlbaugh. Moving up the top three on position and Kyle Worden now finished in the top five. (more…)

Kyle Bronson Wins Late Models, AJ Maddox Wins Top Gun Sprints Wingless Feature At East Bay Raceway Park

November 10, 2012 – Tampa, FL – The Top Gun Sprints made their way back to East Bay Raceway Park running their make-up race from October 6th. Along with the Sprints were the Late Models, Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers and Fan Participation.

At Intermission it was Steve Ashmore back in Victory Lane winning the Fan Participation races. Then came the Limited Late Model Feature. Jason Pope and Shane Koperda won their heat races. For the feature event it was Forrest Gough and Jeremy Simpson making up the front row. When the green flag waved it was Gough leading early. On lap five the first caution came out as Koperda spun in turn one battling with Jason Russell. The green waved again and it was Gough leading the way until lap ten when Gough turned left into the infield and handed the lead over to second place Jeremy Simpson with Roger Crouse right on his back bumper. Simpson went on to win his very first feature win ever holding off the Veteran Roger Crouse. Rick Martin, Jason Russell and Shane Koperda rounding out the top five.

The Top Gun Sprints were next with the 25 lap Non-winged feature event. AJ Maddox and Danny Martin, Jr. won their heat races and were eligible to pick up an extra $100 dollars for the Barfield Sweep along with the $1,000 to win sponsored by Boomtrux.com. For the feature it was Dennis Misuraca and Tim George making up the front row for the feature. Misuraca led the first few laps until Martin, Jr. went flying by Misuraca on lap three. The first caution came out as Mark Ruel, Jr. slowed over in turn two.  That closed up the field with AJ Maddox right on Martins back bumper.  As the field went down the backstretch into turn three, Martin, Jr. slide up towards the wall and came to a stop bringing out another caution. Martin, Jr. was pushed into the pits ending his night and Maddox was the new leader.  Maddox never looked back and went on to win his fourth feature win of the year. “I was only half throttle as the cushion got thinner “ Maddox said in Victory Lane. Tony Agin, Billy Boyd, Jr., Matt Kurtz and Ruel, Jr. rounding out the top five. (more…)

Jeff Mathews Wins Late Model Feature, David Pollen, Jr. Wins Championship

November 10, 2012 – Tampa, FL – Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Outlaw Fours and V8 Warriors were on hand tonight as a Championship was in sight for one driver.

The first feature of the night went to the Outlaw Fours. Winning their heat races were Jesse Foster and Nick Hebrank as they also made up the front row for the 15 lap feature event.  When the green dropped it was Foster leading the field for the first seven laps until the first caution came out for Megan Meyer as she spun in turn one.  When the green waved again with just a few laps left it Stephen Hohlbaugh spinning in turn two after running in the top five. Then on the restart it was defending Champion Jesse Brown making his way to take over the lead and did on lap nine not looking back and picking up his first win of the season. Finishing in second was Foster followed by Raymond Folwell, Brittany Yates and Hohlbaugh rounding out the top five.

Next were the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds. Before the night started, points leader David Pollen, Jr. had just a 44 point lead over two time defending Champion Austin Sanders and Thomas Pratt and Bruce Harvey just 49 points back. Picking up heat wins were Harvey and Sanders trying to get points to catch Pollen, Jr. So for the feature it was Kyle Bronson and Bobby Dixon on the front row. On the initial green flag, Dixon spun in turn two causing a complete restart. So on the restart, the young man who has won 25 features this year took the lead. (more…)

Keith Nosbisch Makes It A Three Wins In A Row For The Late Models

November 3, 2012 – Tampa, FL – Late Models, East Bay Sprints, Street Stocks and Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were on hand tonight to compete and try to gain points as the season is winding down.

The first feature of the night went to Street Stocks. Jarod Gay, Eric Moon and Dennis Wilson, Jr. won their heat races. For the feature it was Wilson, Jr. and Moon making up the front row.  Moon led the initial green flag, but on the next lap Thomas Burnside would spin on the front stretch and everyone was able to avoid him. Caution came out once again on lap four as Donnie Reed slowed down in turn two, Moon was still your leader. Several more cautions came out but was to no avail as Eric Moon went on to pick up his six feature win of the season extending his lead over Donnie Reed. Gay, Wilson, Jr., Dorsey Strickland and Burside after that spin on the first lap came back to finish in the fifth position.

Next up were the East Bay Sprints. Danny Martin, Jr. and Sport Allen won their heats and also made up the front row for the feature. On the drop of the green, Martin, Jr. took to the high side and led the field with Sport Allen right behind him. But on the start it was Kyle Pitts hitting the wall and making for a complete restart. Martin, Jr. once again took to the high side and led the field with Allen once again in tow.  On lap four driving a brand new car, Allen went up in smoke coming out of turn two and ending his night. Martin, Jr. led the entire race never looking back and picking up another feature win for the 2012 Season. Billy Boyd, Jr., Kerry Gilbert, Tony Agin and Robbie Smith rounded out the top five. Keith Nosbisch Wins Donnie Tanner Memorial Race

October 27, 2012 – Tampa, FL – It was Trick or Treat for the kids 12 & under and Breast Cancer Awareness Night here at East Bay Raceway Park. The third and final race for the 50 Lap Donnie Tanner Memorial Series for the Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifeds, the Old Time Mods and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were all in action tonight.

The first feature of the night went to Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds. Thomas Pratt, Kyle Bronson and Austin Sanders won their heat races. For the feature event it was Powers and Jeff Mathews on the front row. Mathews led the first five laps until tangling with lap traffic of Dakotah Stephens. Mathews broke a shock and never returned. That handed the lead over to Powers and led the entire race picking up his second feature win of the season. Point’s leader David Pollen, Jr. finished second while Sanders, Bronson and Pratt rounded out the top five.

Next up were the Old Time Mods. When the green flag dropped, several cars were battling for the top spot, but it was Jamie Frankland taking over on lap three and never looking back. Roger Herbach finished second, while Bob Fink, Gary Riccio and Mark Steve rounded out the top five.

The Late Models were next for their 50 lap feature event. Winning their heat races were Josh Peacock, Doug Horton, and driving a late model for the first time and picking up his heat win was Kyle Bronson. So for the feature it was last week’s feature winner Keith Nosbisch and Jeff Mathews on the front row. This was Nosbisch’s first race for the Donnie Tanner Memorial as he tuned his car up last week and won the feature, looking to make it two in a row. (more…)

Keith Nosbisch Returns To Victory Lane At East Bay Raceway Park

October 20, 2012 – Tampa, FL – Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours and V8 Warriors were all here tonight at The Clay by the Bay.

The first feature of the night went to the Street Stocks. Garry Sheffield and Tim Powers won their heat races and made up the front row for the feature event. Tim Powers took the early lead, but on lap three, the red came out as Jimmy Baker and Kenny Myers tangled on the front stretch. Both drivers were ok, but Myers was not able to continue.  Several cautions came out throughout  the race until the final caution as points leader Eric Moon and Donnie Reed tangled in turn two. When the final green waved, Tim Powers picked up his second feature win here at East Bay for the 2012 Season. Matthew Grissom, Dennis Wilson, Jr., Buck Woodhouse and Brian Morgan rounded out the top five.

Outlaw Fours were next with Billy Howard and Jesse Foster winning their heat races. For the feature event it was a pair of young drivers making up the front row, Brandon Yates and Megan Meyer. Yates took the early lead until Meyer spun in turn two after running third. On the restart, Yates continued to lead, but on lap five Yates and Hohlbaugh tangled sending Hohlbaugh to the pits. With only one more caution coming out, Foster was able to take over the top spot and go on to win his very first feature  at East Bay Raceway Park. Howard went on to finish second as Brittany Yates, J.R. Baker and Brandon Yates rounded out the top five. (more…)

Jason Russell Wins Very First Feature At East Bay Raceway Park

October 13, 2012 – Tampa, FL – Five divisions were on hand to race here at East Bay Raceway Park. The Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Outlaw Fours, Florida Mini Sprints and Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were all battling for points tonight.

The first feature of the night went to the Outlaw Fours. Stephen Hohlbaugh won his heat. For the feature event on the front row it was Zach Amundsen and Billy Howard. Billy Howard took the early lead, but then on lap one, Nick Hebrank spun and brought out the first caution. On the restart, Howard took the lead again, but then on lap three it was the defending Champion Jesse Brown blowing an engine and was done for the night. As the final green waved, Billy Howard picked up his fourth feature win of the season with Hohlbaugh, Amundsen, J.R. Baker and Jessica Robbins rounding out the top five.

Next up were the Florida Mini Sprints. Current points leader Gavin Thomas, Paige Moss and Dirk Miller won their heat races. For the feature it was Paige Moss and John Crowder making up the front row. But before the green was waved, the drivers did a four wide salute to the fans. When the green waved it was Eddie Moss, Jr. taking the lead for the first part of the race. On lap thirteen, Dylan Coldings night ended as he went up in smoke on the backstretch. (more…)

Top Guns Go Topless at East Bay

The Top Gun Sprint Series will return to East Bay Raceway Park on, Saturday, October 6th for a Non-Wing event presented by Boomtrux.Com. , this will be the first Non-Wing sprint car event at East Bay in many years. The series will hold two Non-Wing events at East Bay Raceway Park in 2012; the other event will be on November 24th.

Matt Kurtz has a sizable lead over Marl Ruel Jr., then a three way tie between AJ Maddox, Tony Agin and Robbie Smith for third, with Collin Cabre only four point behind them.  Ryan Partin, Shawn Murray, Danny Martin Jr., Tim Grubaugh, Rich Alexander, Brandon Grubaugh, Brandon Lineberger, Stephen Darvalics, Gene Lasker, Andrew Griffin, DJ Peeples, Billy Boyd and Kyle Pitts will all be trying to move up in the point standings

Joining the Boomtrux.Com Non-Wing Sprints will be the Street Stocks, 4 Cylinder Bombers and V-8 Warriors. Gates open at 5:00pm and racing at 6:30 pm
