Josh Peacock Wins Late Model Feature Event At East Bay Raceway Park

Peacock-5-18-13-WinnerMay 18th, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It was a night of action here at East Bay Raceway Park. Late Models, Limited Late Models, Outlaw Fours, V8 Warriors and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were all in action. But before the night got under way, a couple was here from Anchorage, Alaska on their honeymoon. Jessie and Chris Hawley decided to spend their evening here at East Bay Raceway Park.

The first feature of the night belonged to the Outlaw Fours. Winning their heats were Zach Amundsen and Dorsey Strickland and also made up the front row for the 15 lap feature event. When the green waved it was Strickland leading the way until lap five when Stephen Hohlbaugh took over the lead. The first caution came out on lap six when Brittany Yates and Megan Meyer tangled in turn four. When the green waved once again it was two laps later when Zach Amundsen spun in turn two after running in the second position. Green waved and it was still Hohlbaugh in first with Dorsey Strickland right behind him. It was on lap twelve when J.R. Baker hitting the front stretch wall while battling with Nick Hebrank for the third position coming out of turn four. When the checkered waved it was Hohlbaugh picking up his second win of the season with Jesse James Foster, Zach Amundsen, Nick Hebrank and Brittany Yates rounding out the top five. (more…)

Tony Agin Wins Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprint 25 Lap Feature Event At East Bay Raceway Park

Agin-Winner-5-11-13May 11th, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints made their first appearance of the 2013 Season with 19 cars ready to battle for their feature event. Also racing tonight were the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

First feature of the night went to the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks. Winning their heat races were Justan Rodgers and Buck Woodhouse and also would make up the front row for the feature event. Buck Woodhouse would lead the first three laps until caution would come out for debris on the front stretch. Woodhouse was leading with his brother Roy in second and Dennis Williams in third. When the race resumed Woodhouse would hold onto the top until several scars spun on the back stretch bringing out the caution once again. Two more cautions came out but it was Buck Woodhouse holding onto the lead with Dennis Williams trying to get around him. The final caution came out with just one lap to go when William Burnside spun in turn two. It was the green and the white flag waving together as Woodhouse went around the 1/3 mile track and picked up the win with Dennis Williams, Jarod Gay, Roy Woodhouse and Thomas Burnside rounding out the top five. Dale Pope Back In Victory Lane At East Bay Raceway Park

Pope-5-4-13-WinnerMay 4th, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It looked throughout the week that Mother Nature was going to play spoils for Saturday nights racing, but it was another cool night of racing here at East Bay Raceway Park. Five divisions were on hand with the Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, V8 Warriors, Street Stocks and the Florida Old Time Mods ready to put on a show for the fans.

First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks with Brian Morgan and Garry Sheffield winning their heats. For the feature event it was Thomas Burnside and Roberto Morfin, Sr. making up the front row. When the green waved it was Burnside leading lap one until the first caution came out for several cars spinning and David Barwick, II tagging the back wall ending his night. Burnside would continue to lead until the next caution waved on lap nine as Michael Eaton spun in turn one. On lap ten it was Hunter Gustafson slapping the front stretch wall then spinning in turn one collecting Mike Wilson. On lap eleven it was Brian Morgan taking over the top spot after starting in the fifth position and going on to win the feature. ebnosApril 27, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It was the first of the Donnie Tanner Memorial Races for the Late Models as they would battle for a 50 Lap Feature event paying $1,500 to the winner. Also racing were the Limited Late Models, V8 Warriors, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers and Fan Participation.

William Burnside Picks Up First Feature Win In Street Stocks After Completely Rebuilding Car From Flip Several Weeks Ago

20130421-012133.jpgApril 20,, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It seemed Mother Nature would spoil the night, but it turned out to be a very cool evening while Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association, Outlaw Fours and the Street Stocks were all on hand to put on a show.

First up was the Outlaw Fours with Billy Howard and Stephen Hohlbaugh winning their heats. For the feature it was Dorsey Strickland and Jesse James Foster on the front row. Strickland led the field until Thomas Braswell brought out the first caution. Strickland took the green once again until lap five when Chris Zimmerman spun in turn four. (more…)

Jason Pope Picks Up Win Through Tech, After Front Two Disqualified

April 13,, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Six divisions were on hand tonight on another gorgeous night here in the state of Florida at East Bay Raceway Park. Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours, Florida Old Time Modifieds and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were all in action.

First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks as Thomas Burnside and Justan Rodgers won their heats. Then for the feature it was Tim Arnold and Justan Rodgers making up the front row. When the green waved it was Rodgers leading the way until the first caution of the night came out on lap nine as David Barwick, II and Dennis Wilson, Jr got together and tangled up heading into the turn four wall. Barwick was unable to continue as Wilson, Jr. went to the infield and then back to the rear of the field for the restart. Another caution came out on lap twelve as Thomas Burnside spun in turn three. It was a single file restart with three laps remaining with Dennis Williams pressuring Rodgers for the final three laps. (more…)

Roger Crouse Wins Third Feature After Winning Two Features Last Weekend At East Bay Raceway Park

April 6,, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It was a gorgeous Saturday night as five divisions all raced for the top prizes. Late Models, East Bay Sprints, Street Stocks, V8 Warriors and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

Roger Crouse Wins Back To Back Features Pulling Double Duty On Easter Weekend At East Bay Raceway Park

March 30, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It was Easter weekend here at East Bay Raceway Park with lots of candy to be given away to kids 12 & under. Before the features were ran, a very special 2 seater ride-a-long was to be given. Ethan Deaton of Zephryhills who has Cerebral Palsy and has always wanted to get in a race car, well tonight his dream came true. Dave Schmauss was the one he wanted a ride with. Dave said it would be an honor to give this young man the ride of his life. After the five laps were complete, Dave did several 360’s and then proceeded to go around the go-kart track and spin to a complete stop. Fans cheered as Dave and Ethan would wind up in Victory Lane. Ethan said he wanted to do it again with a grin on his face from ear to ear. Everyone cheered as the two went off the track. Ethan’s mom Maria got a ride from Dave as well after the races were over and gave a thumbs up to her son as they drove back into the pits.

Dave Schmauss Ends Drought Making It Back Into Victory Lane At East Bay Raceway Park

March 23, 2013 – Tampa, FL Outlaw Fours, Late Models, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers returned for action as the East Bay Sprints and Fan Participation made their first appearance of the 2013 Season.

Before the feature events got under way, Fan Participation made their way onto the track and driving for the first time in his 1986 Corvette was Ronald Woodcock II facing off against Doug Johnson. Johnson got the jump with Woodcock following him. Johnson went on to win the race and went to the finals facing RJ Buchner for the 2 lap finals. Johnson took off and never looked back picking up the win. Johnson stated in Victory Lane it had been awhile but he was glad to be back out there. Johnson is also waiting to get his race car built so he can race.

First feature event of the night went to the Outlaw Fours. Winning their heats were Zach Amundsen and Stephen Hohlbaugh. For the front row of the feature it was Billy Howard and Jesse James Foster. Foster got the jump on the start leading the field for the first seven laps until Howard tangled and spun in turn two bringing out the caution. Howard would have to tag the rear of the field. Several more cautions came out with the final caution on lap thirteen with Brandon Yates spinning in turn four. That would mean it would be a tap lap dash as Foster was still leading with Hohlbaugh trying to get around him for the final two laps. When the checkered waved it was Foster making it two features in a row for the Outlaw Fours. Holbaugh, Amundsen, Howard and Dorsey Strickland, after starting last, rounded out the top five. (more…)

Josh Peacock Picks Up First Late Model Feature Win Of 2013 Season At East Bay Raceway Park

March 16, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It was the first night for the Late Models and the V8 Warriors as the Street Stocks, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers returned for the second week in a row.

First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks. Winning heat races early on were Matthew Grissom and Jarod Gay. For the feature event it was Dennis Wilson, Jr and Matthew Grissom on the front row. On the green flag, Wilson, Jr. led the first lap until Thomas Burnside spun in turn two bringing out the first caution of the night. Four more cautions came out until on lap eight when several cars got tangled up on the backstretch with William Burnside getting the worst end of it as his left front dug into the track sending his car airborne and flipping bringing out the red. Burnside was ok but the car was not. After the green was waved again, Jarod Gay got into the back of the leader Wilson, Jr. spinning him out. Gay was charged with the spin putting him to the rear and Wilson, Jr back up front. Charging up from the fourth position was Dennis Williams. With just a few laps left, Williams passed Wilson, Jr. and crossed the finish line first. But after tech, Williams was dq’d for the wrong tires. Dennis Wilson, Jr. was deemed the winner with Jarod Gay coming back up from the back to finish second. Buck Woodhouse, Roy Woodhouse and Roberto Morfin, Sr. rounded out the top five.
