Florida United Promoters Late Models set to open the season !

2-28-12 – The sophomore season of the FUP Late Model series is set to go green this Saturday March 3rd at the Desoto Super Speedway and the expectations and excitement are high !

” We are excited to get the season started, we have been working hard to create better promotion of the series as well as some great racing in 2012. We feel like we have some great drivers and tracks that promote great racing. Moyer Caps UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit With Stirring World of Outlaws Late Model Series Victory

Dennis Erb Jr. Crowned Champion Of Late Model Week At Volusia Speedway Park

BARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 25, 2012 – Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., capped the 41^st UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment with a stirring victory in Saturday night’s 50-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main at Volusia Speedway Park.

The 54-year-old dirt Late Model legend grabbed the lead in memorable fashion on lap 32, bursting past Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga., and Don O’Neal of Martinsville, Ind., with a power move down the inside of the backstretch. BARBERVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 25, 2012 – There were slide jobs, traffic jams and a little wheel banging as the 41^st annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment concluded with an electric feature.

Rob Bellinger outlasted a handful of drivers, including a hard-charging Matt Sheppard, to claim the 50-lap Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified main event in front of a packed crowd at Volusia Speedway Park on a chilly Saturday night. (more…)

SpeedWeeks Ends Quickly

The UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions and the Hobby Stocks battled hard as SpeedWeeks came to a close.

No one could’ve written a better script for the finale. Lap 1 saw Howard O’Steen and Mark Maresca spin out of turn 4 to slow the Hobby Stock feature. Doran Cheney would do the same 5 laps later. The top 3 of Tim Gay, Devin Walker, and Brian Morgan were slowed on lap 17 a total of 3 times. First when John Clark stopped in turn 1. Second for Grady Christian’s spin out of turn 2. The final when Jeff Barrett and John Clark spun out of 4. The lead never changed hands with a feel-good story win for Devin Walker. Gay was 2nd with Morgan, Kevin Durden, and Rodney Wright behind him.

A 30 lap feature saw Kistler Engines Fast Qualifier Dave Gravel start 4th after his 12.894 second lap. On lap 5 the leader, Tim Shaffer, ran into lapped traffic, literally, and bounced off the turn 1 wall ending his night. (more…)

Stewart Makes it Two in a Row in “King of 360’s” Action!

Lonnie Wheatley, TAMPA, Fla. (February 24, 2012) – Shane Stewart is rapidly establishing himself as an unstoppable force at East Bay Raceway Park’s 36^th Annual Winter Nationals as he raced to victory lane for the second time in as many nights of 14^th Annual “King of the 360’s” competition atop the 1/3-mile clay oval.

After winning Thursday night’s opener, the Bixby, OK, native slid past Tim Crawley in turns three and four on the third round and led the rest of the way in Friday’s 25-lapper to make it two-for-two aboard the Gaerte Engines/DDNi/GLR Investments No. 3g.

With a sweep of preliminary feature action on Thursday and Friday, Stewart has earned the pole position for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win Ronald Laney Memorial. (more…)

BARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 24, 2012 (night) – John Blankenship of Williamson, W.Va., registered the biggest win of his career on Friday night, capturing the 40-lap DIRTcar UMP Late Model finale of the 41st UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment at Volusia Speedway Park.

The 30-year-old driver was flawless in the A-Main, roaring off the pole position to lead the entire distance. He earned $10,000 for his first-ever victory at the half-mile oval, which hosted a day-night doubleheader on Friday due to a rainout of Wednesday evening’s scheduled program. (more…)

Alan Johnson was both on Friday afternoon at Volusia Speedway Park, where the veteran was awarded the pole position in the redraw for the feature and then survived a challenging track to record the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified victory at the 41^st annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

BARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 24, 2012 – Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., mastered Friday’s daytime track conditions at Volusia Speedway Park, dominating the postponed 25-lap DIRTcar UMP Late Model A-Main during the 41st UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

In an event pushed to Friday afternoon following a rainout on Wednesday night, Bloomquist took advantage of starting from the pole position to lead the entire feature distance. He was never seriously challenged en route to a $7,000 triumph. (more…)

Lasoski finding Florida to his Liking, wins second UNOH All Star feature of 2012

OCALA, FL (2-23-12) By Brian Liskai Though he hails from Dover, Missouri, Danny The Dude Lasoski found his winter home of Ocala, Florida to his liking Thursday. Lasoski, piloting his own #33 Triple X Chassis, Kistler Engines powered machine, scored his second University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions feature event of 2012 in the Sunshine State to open the three straight nights of racing at Bubba Raceway Park.

Lasoski, who set quick time in Kistler Engines Qualifying, ran from sixth to third in his heat and won the Outwears Performance Products Dash to earn the pole position to start the 30 lap feature. He would bolt into the lead at the drop of the green, but the action ground to a halt when Luke Hall flipped (he was okay). The race went back to green and Lasoski, in the Todd Creason, (more…)

Stewart Wins King of 360’s Opener!

Lonnie Wheatley, TAMPA, Fla. (February 23, 2012) – Bixby, Oklahoma native Shane Stewart kicked off East Bay Raceway Park’s 14^th Annual “King of the 360’s” Nationals by racing to victory lane in Thursday night’s 25-lap feature at the 36^th Annual Winter Nationals.

Stewart worked traffic on the 1/3-mile clay oval to his advantage by racing from third to first on the 11^th round en route to victory lane aboard the Gaerte-powered XYZ Machining No. 3g.

While Stewart gridded the feature field inside the third row, pole starter Lou Kennedy, Jr., outgunned fellow front row starter and 2006 “King of the 360’s” Terry McCarl for the lead at the drop of the green flag. (more…)
