Blaney Earns 92nd All Star Win by Dominating at Hibbing

HIBBING, MN. (July 24, 2012) By Brian Liskai – Dale Blaney was in the right place at the right time. “The Low Rider” led all 40 laps Tuesday at Hibbing Raceway to claim his second straight University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions victory.

The win pads Blaney’s point lead in the UNOH All Star’s Great Plains Region, which will pay the champion $10,000 as part of the annual Thunder Through the Plains. It was his series’ leading eighth victory of 2012 as the three time UNOH All Star champion has won nearly one third of the total features held this season. Blaney, who recorded eight UNOH All Star wins in all of 2011, now has 92 career victories with the series, just six away from tying hall-of-famer Kenny Jacobs for the most all-time wins. (more…)

PASS South Southern Sizzler 150 at Orange County Speedway Always Lives Up to Expectations

Charlotte, NC 7/25/12– Over the last several seasons the 4/10th mile oval located in the tiny town of Rougemont, North Carolina, deemed the Orange County Speedway, has hosted two PASS South Series super late model events a year. The first normally comes early in the season schedule during mid spring time, and the second during the middle ofNorth Carolina’s sweltering summer time heat and humidity. Both events are known to produce some of the best racing all season, but round two at theNorth Carolina track, appropriately named the Southern Sizzler 150, always has that extra bit of flare or excitement to it that draws additional fans in the stands and cars in the pits.

Blankenship Wins Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Debut at Stateline

BUSTI, NY (July 24, 2012) – The record books will show that John Blankenship of Williamson, WV led all 50 laps of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series debut at Stateline Speedway in Tuesday Night. The record crowd that was in attendance knows that just for a moment Ripley, NY’s Mike Knight almost pulled off a major upset.
Blankenship, who won the first major race of his career in 2005 at Stateline, stormed to a healthy early lead over the field. Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN ran in second place for the first 28 laps of the race, until Knight, using the top groove on the track, ran him down and passed him on lap 29. UARA-STARS Back in the Carolinas

Hendersonville, N.C. (7/23/12) – After the action-packed Jeff’s Auto Sales 150 at Newport Tennessee two weeks ago, the UARA-STARS are coming back to the Carolinas for the Racing Electronics 150 at Caraway Speedway Saturday July 28th.   This will be round one of a UARA triple header.  Following the Caraway event this weekend, the STARS will follow that up with a race at Concord on August 4 and then turn right around for an event at Tri County on August 10th.

Caraway Speedway has not been on the UARA schedule since 2008 at which time Rookie Darrell Wallace Jr. won his only UARA event.  Wallace continued his season to win the UARA Rookie of the Year title.  The first visit to the 13 degree banking asphalt oval was in November 2007 in a controversial event full of excitement, hot tempers and the UARA championship on the line. World of Outlaws Return to Junction Motor Speedway

It hosts the fourth round of the Kasey Kahne Challenge on Tuesday, Aug. 14

McCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. – July 24, 2012 – Although the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has only competed at Junction Motor Speedway once, it has been a highlighted date on the schedule this season.

The semi-banked, 3/8-mile oval hosts the World of Outlaws for only the second time on Tuesday, Aug. 14, for the fourth-and-final round of the NAPA Auto Parts Kasey Kahne Challenge Presented by Mid-Nebraska Land Developing, A&L Sales & Service and Friesen Chevrolet.

Craig Dollansky leads the points for the Challenge going into the final race with a 38-point advantage over Kraig Kinser. Joey Saldana is third – 40 points behind Dollansky.  (more…)

Blaney back in UNOH All Star Victory Lane to Open Thunder Through the Plains

WILMOT, WI (July 21, 2012) By Brian Liskai– After having missed the last two University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions events due to mechanical issues with his team’s tow vehicle, Dale Blaney was chomping at the bit to get back behind the wheel of his Ti22 Performance machine.

Blaney, a three time UNOH All Star champion, dominated the early portions of the “Outlaw Sprintacular” co-sanctioned UNOH All Stars/Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series event Saturday at Wilmot Raceway. “The Low Rider” then had to hold off three time UNOH All Star Champion and current series’ point leader Tim Shaffer and IRA champion Bill Balog in the closing laps to score the win.

It was Blaney’s 7th UNOH All Star win of 2012 and the 91st of his career, moving him to within seven victories of tying hall-of-famer Kenny Jacobs for the series’ all-time win lead. (more…)

Huge Week Ahead for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in New York and Maryland

WAYCROSS, GA (July 23, 2012) – Well over $200,000 in prize money is up for grabs, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series embarks on a week of racing in New York and Maryland. Kicking things off will be the series’ first visit to Stateline Speedway in Busti, NY on Tuesday night, July 24th for the “The Empire 50”, sponsored by Roberts Trucking and Davies and Sons.

Then, on Wednesday night, July 25th, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will make its fourth trip to Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY. In the previous three appearances, there have been three different winners – Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and Watertown, NY’s, Tim McCreadie.
Rounding out the New York-swing, on Thursday night, July 26th, the series will make its third appearance to Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY. Defending LOLMDS Champion, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is a two-time winner of this event. (more…)

JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Part of SpeedFest 2012 at Lucas Oil Raceway Thursday

Salem, IN (July 23, 2012) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will head to Lucas Oil Raceway, located on the west side of Indianapolis, this Thursday for the Indy 100 Presented by JEGS.com, part of SpeedFest 2012. The .686 oval is one of the most popular and famous short tracks in the country. Thursday’s event will be the ninth race in the fourteen race 2012 schedule for the crate motor template bodied series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association and the first of two series events at Lucas Oil Raceway during the 2012 season.
