Salem, IN (July 23, 2012) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will head to Lucas Oil Raceway, located on the west side of Indianapolis, this Thursday for the Indy 100 Presented by JEGS.com, part of SpeedFest 2012. The .686 oval is one of the most popular and famous short tracks in the country. Thursday’s event will be the ninth race in the fourteen race 2012 schedule for the crate motor template bodied series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association and the first of two series events at Lucas Oil Raceway during the 2012 season.

North Carolina’s Colt James got the win in last year’s series event at Lucas Oil Raceway in October. James lead early, then lost the lead for a couple of laps to hard charging Brent Downey, then passed Downey on lap 65 to retake the lead for good, holding off Chad Finley and Eddie Hoffman to get the win over the 34 car field.

All the top JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour drivers will be there on Thursday including current series point’s leader Daniel Hemric who has won five events out of the eight series events contested to date for the Scott Neal Racing Team. 14 year old Anderson Bowen comes into Thursday’s event second in series Championship points, 52 points behind Hemric and is the leader in the Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year points presented by Howe Racing. Brent Downey is in third place, he is 10 points behind Bowen. Veteran Illinois racer Josh Nelms has moved into fourth place, he is 24 points behind Downey. Chad Finley, who has one series win so far this season, is in fifth place, he is 12 points behind Nelms.

The event has once again attracted some of the best crate late model drivers from around the country including James who looks to defend his Lucas Oil Raceway win from 2011 and James’s teammate Mark Gibson also from North Carolina. Also entered is 14 year old Kyle Benjamin who got a convincing victory with the series at Winchester Speedway on May 6th. Kenzie Ruston and Nate Caruth, both regulars with the ARCA/CRA Super Series, will both make their first starts with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour on Thursday. Ruston is the girlfriend of Hemric and was a winner with the ARCA/CRA Super Series at Lucas Oil Raceway in October of last year. Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway hot shoe Willie Allen is entered for his first series race along with 15 year old Winston, Georgia native Mason Massey, driving for Bill Elliott Racing. In all there are already 30 cars pre-entered for Thursday night’s event.
