HANFORD, Calif. – April 12, 2013 – Wearing an ear-to-ear grin, Chad Kemenah hopped out of his car and went in for the hug on Donny Schatz.
Keep in mind, Kemenah had just finished second to Schatz in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series return to Kings Speedway on Friday night.

“That’s just what happens when you get a race track to race on wide enough,” Kemenah said. “These fans come out and just get a hell of a show. That was a lot of passing.

“I just want to thank all the fans for coming out here and Donny for such a good race. They got their money’s worth and we’re excited.”

Schatz was a bit more subdued in celebrating his first career victory at the 3/8-mile track, which has featured a different winner in each of the last seven World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series main events. (more…)

Dale McDowell Makes it Two for Two in North Georgia ULTIMATE Super Late Model Win

206Chatsworth, Georgia – For the second time in 2 North Georgia Speedway appearances Dale McDowell, of nearby Chickamauga, Georgia, pulled his Team Dillon race car into ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Victory Lane. McDowell, who took the lead from TDR teammate Austin Dillon on lap 2, battled through lap traffic and a late race tangle with David Payne to outlast a hard charging Randy Weaver and score the $4000 winner’s purse. “We had a great car. I was really good when I was by myself but I would get tight when we got to traffic. I tried that top but then the lap guys were so fast up off that bottom they would slide up in front of us. This was our MasterSbilt car and it was really good. The track was a little choppy but nothing really bad. My hats off to Jason and all the folks here at North Georgia for a great event.” McDowell said.32 cars signed in and took timed laps in VP Race Fuels Race for the Pole Time Trials with NASCAR Nationwide Series regular Austin Dillon laying down quick time of the evening as the first car on the speedway. Dillon’s lap of 12.999 seconds topped Casey Barrow, McDowell, Adam Beeler and Brett Miller who rounded out the top 5. Dillon’s lap was the only driver to dip into the 12 second bracket. Randy Weaver, Ray Cook, Chris Ferguson, Skip Arp and Zack Mitchell completed the top 10 drivers that locked-in to the feature from time trials. (more…)

Paducah International Raceway only Outlaws Stop in Kentucky

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series hits the 3/8 mile on Friday, April 19

20130406-101608.jpgPADUCAH, Ky. – April 9, 2013 – Seven for seven.

Paducah International Raceway has never seen a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series repeat winner in the seven features since the opener in 1998. That streak will be on the line as Joey Saldana – last season’s winner – and the Outlaws head to the high-banked track on Friday, April 19.

“Paducah’s a really fun race track,” Chad Kemenah said. “It’s pretty wide, it gets really racy there usually and it puts a really good show for the fans. It’s usually really, really exciting.”

It is also the only World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event in Kentucky this season.

“Turn one and two is pretty tricky,” championship points leader Daryn Pittman said. “I’ve kinda always struggled there. It’s got a lot of bank to it. It’s fast. It’s got long straightaways and kind of tight corners. I’m definitely looking forward to going back and trying to improve on what I’ve done in the past.”

Jeff Swindell claimed the inaugural event with Andy Hillenburg, Danny Lasoski, Craig Dollansky, Jason Meyers and Jac Haudenschild each picking up a win before Saldana’s triumph last year. (more…)

Buckeye 100 Weekend Condensed To 50-lap, $10,000-To-Win Program On Saturday (April 13) At NAPA Wayne County Speedway

Unfavorable Weather Outlook Prompts Changes To Ohio’s Only World of Outlaws Late Model Series Event In 2013

20130315-150746.jpgORRVILLE, OH – April 9, 2013 – The World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Buckeye 100’ scheduled for this weekend at NAPA Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway has been condensed to a one-day program on Saturday evening (April 13) topped by a 50-lap A-Main paying $10,000 to win, track and series officials announced on Tuesday afternoon.

With unfavorable weather conditions forecast for the start of the inaugural Buckeye 100 weekend, WCS co-promoters Jason and Kristin Flory collaborated with WoO LMS director Tim Christman on a contingency plan for the event. Both parties agreed to scrap the originally scheduled multi-day, 100-lap program and run a single-day card on Saturday night.

“All of us at NAPA Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway have been excited for months about the first Buckeye 100 weekend, but we don’t want to run such a huge event in conditions that would be miserable for fans and race teams,” said Jason Flory, who is starting his second full season of promoting the three-eighths-mile oval with his wife. “With forecasts calling for rain on Thursday (practice night) and then unseasonably cold temperatures and a chance of rain and/or snow on Friday, we felt that we didn’t want to have everyone travel to the speedway and face the possibility of sitting for a couple days without racing or competing in weather that would make the weekend unenjoyable. Madden Masters Southern All Stars Charles Trammell Memorial at Tazewell Speedway

20130325-221753.jpgTazewell, TN-April 6, 2013- The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series visited Tazewell Speedway for the first time since 2006 on Saturday evening and Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC would lead all 50 laps of the 4th Annual Charles Trammell Memorial en route to a $5,000 payday at the Gary Hall promoted East Tennessee speedplant.

Madden and Bryan Hendrix would bring the field to the green flag, only to see Hendrix slam the outside retaining wall in turn one to cause the first of seven caution periods that slowed the event.  A tangle between Steve Smith and Jason Trammell would slow the pace again after only 1 lap had been scored.  Back underway, Madden would show the way, while Tommy Kerr and Billy Ogle, Jr. battling for second, with Vic Hill fourth.  The front four would begin the process of working slower traffic and Madden would actually open a bit of a lead over Ogle, Jr., but a caution for an incident with Bo Shirley on the backchute slowed the pace.
This restart would see teammates Ogle, Jr. and Kerr trade slidejobs for the runner-up spot with Madden able to scoot away, with Mike Weeks and Stacey Boles now battling for fifth behind fourth place Hill.  Two more cautions as a Josh Henry flat slowed the contest and after Jason Hiett rolled to a stop in turn four on lap 31, fourth place Hill would see mechanical issues end his evening as he rolled pitside during the caution period.  Ogle, Jr. would challenge Madden repeatedly on restart and would roll under Madden on several occasions, but Madden would continue to lead the way.  Meanwhile, fifteenth starter Hunter Peacock would roll his way into the top five by the lap 37 for a slowed Steve Smith on the frontchute.
