Auburndale Results for Nov. 5th

We have two more weeks of Auburndale Speedway’s 2011 points season.  Then we will have a special Winter Spectacular race on Dec. 3, With a 75 lap Open Wheel Modified race, 50 lap Sportsman, 40 lap Street Stock, and a 30 lap Scrambler race, so be sure to mark your calendars, your not going to want to miss this night.

Saturday Night Nov. 5th we had five regular classes put on an awesome night of entertainment for the fans. (more…)

New Story, Same Ending at Citrus County Speedway

Saturday night Citrus County Speedway hosted the season finale of the Florida United Promoters late model series. This 12 race series visited each of the states top asphalt tracks twice during the 2011 season. Saturday night marked the end to a successful first season for the new series, and showed promise for the season to come.

The night got started with time trial qualifying for the late models, each driver would get two timed laps, trying to take the top qualifying honors. When the dust settled, it was Brooksville native Daniel Webster (33), who proved to know the fastest way to get around the ¼ bullring. (more…)

Kyle Van Sickle Tops Late Models At NFS

By Jeff Bean-NFS Media-Lake City Fl. Although the weather was chilly on Saturday night the action on the track was hot at times with Kyle Van Sickle surviving a late race skirmish with a lapped car to hold off Adam Bedenbaugh and his brother Ryan Van Sickle for the the checkers. In Street Stock competition Sammy Hatcher took the win over Heath Walker and Dennis Peterson. Kyle Arvin took his second win in Limited Modified over Ronald Broughton and Devin Walker. Jimmy Carter was the Pure Stock winner over Jerry Fortner and Chris Rowe. In the finale it was John Windham first to the checkers in Box Stock but Bryar Zimmerman was the first to pass post race technical inspection to earn his second victory of 2011. (more…)

Danny Anderson Wins Al Newman Memorial at PGS

It was a great night for racing at Punta Gorda Speedway, the weather was cool but some tempers were hot and the new “young guns” showed what they got. All the qualifying and heat races were done and Chaplin Stone gave a moment of silence for Al Newman before the parade and features got under way.

First up were the Bandoleros that saw the X of Johnny Holmes of Port Charlotte loose control and bounce off the tires in turn three before one lap was in the books. Johnny Holmes was lucky to hit the tires and not the wall which made him able to walk away but end his night of racing. (more…)

Night of a Thousands included the UMP Open-Wheel Modifieds, Barrett’s Race Cars Hobby Stocks, Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks, Gladiators, and the Florida Mini Sprints Association. All 5 divisions put on a show with 4 taking their first win in the Bubba Clem Era.

A 20 lap feature for the Barrett’s Race Cars Hobby Stocks started with Trevor Gamble pulling away from the pack. His lead, however, was erased on lap 7 for Robert Sirmons and Jeff Sargent’s spin. Gamble led with Tim Powers and Bubba Christian in hot pursuit. (more…)

Billy Boyd, Jr. Wins Final Night Of East Bay Sprints At East Bay Raceway Park

Nov. 5th, 2011 – Six divisions once again were on hand tonight here at The Clay By The Bay. At Intermission, was the popular Fan Participation races with a ten cars ready to battle. When it came down to the two lap final race, it was Todd Ford against Fred Long. Ford picked up his second win in a row after winning last month’s Big Jim Bargo Memorial Race.

The first feature of the evening went to the Outlaw 4’s. Stephen Hohlbaugh and Raymond Folwell won their heat races early on and made up the front row for the fifteen lap feature event. When the green flag waved, Folwell quickly took the lead going into turn one. On lap five, birthday girl Megan Rae Meyers, Kyle Worden, J.R. Baker and Chris Zimmerman got caught up in an accident in turn four, sending Meyers and Zimmerman to the pits. When the race resumed, Folwell lead the race to the checkered flag with a great battle for second between Brittany Yates and Jesse Brown. Yates crossed the line second with Brown third. Jamie Burrows fourth and Hohlbaugh fifth. (more…)

A Spooktacular Night at Citrus County Speedway

This past Saturday night marked the annual Halloween extravaganza at Citrus County Speedway. Hundreds of children turned out in full costume to take in some safe and fun trick or treating. Drivers turned out in force for the children, with 112 cars and drivers provided tasty treats for the speedways young fans, as well as some exciting racing action.

School bus figure 8 racing was what everyone came to see, and Citrus County Speedway did not disappoint with 24 buses in two different races. School bus race #1 saw a familiar figure 8 veteran show the rest of the field how to get it done. (more…)

Dave Schmauss Wins Third Race In Donnie Tanner Series For Late Models

Oct. 29, 2011 – Six divisions on hand tonight here at The Clay By The Bay. At Intermission, drivers gave out candy to kids of all ages for Halloween with a kids costume contest for 12 & under.

The first feature of the evening went to the Street Stocks. Thomas Burnside and Donnie Reed won heat races early in the night. When the green flag dropped for the feature, Jarod Gay quickly grabbed the lead with Donnie Reed, Jeff Rodgers and Locke Brown once again battling for the front spot. Reed was able to make his way around Gay on lap six and showed why is the defending Champion of the Division.  Gay held on to second place while Rodgers held onto third. Locke Brown finished fourth and Jason Burnside rounded out the top five. (more…)

Steve Arnold Treats the Fans with First Place Finish in Open Wheel 50 Lapper

It was a cool, dry night at Punta Gorda Speedway that was fill with ghost and goblins, bubble bees, and even a visit from Danica Patrick. As the kids from all ages invaded the speedway dressed up in all sorts of costumes there were no signs of all the rain that fell on the speedway all day long Friday. (more…)

Points VS. Wins

Halloween is a favorite night of the drivers and the fans and they were treated to an exciting night of action. The RaceCar Engineering Late Models and Barrett’s Race Cars Hobby Stocks returned while the Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks, Mini Stocks, and Gladiators inched closer to their respective finales.

Young Devin Walker started on pole but quickly fell through the field and spun in turn 1 with Scott Haas and Donald Woosley after 1 completed lap. It was later found out that Walker had a broken axle. (more…)
