Kissam-Baker-10-12-13October 12, 2013  – Tampa, FL  – Double Features would be held for the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers as Mother Nature put an end to their features two weeks ago. Also making up a feature event from two weeks ago were the Florida Mini Sprints. Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks and the Outlaw Fours were also on hand.

First feature of the night before intermission was the make-up feature for the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. On the pole were Wayne Kissam and Richard Humfeld. When the green flag waved it was Kissam leading the way until lap three when Gary Lucas had problems and came to rest on the frontstretch. Also under caution Richard Humfeld lost a wheel ending his night for the first feature. When the green waved Kissam once again led the way with Darrell Taylor and Jimmy Baker on his back bumper. When the checkered waved Kissam was the winner with Jimmy Baker, John Moore, Raymond Vann and Darrell Taylor rounding out the top five.
Next up was the Florida Mini Sprints. Winning their heats were Nicholas Snyder, Eddie Moss, Jr. and John Moss. Jodie McKenzie and Paige Moss made up the front row for the feature. Donny Schatz Powers to 22nd Victory at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park

Five-time champ closes gap in quest for another World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car title

101313_Top3PhotoELBRIDGE, N.Y. – Oct. 12, 2013 – Donny Schatz’s remarkable World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series season continued on Saturday night at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park as he powered to his 22nd victory of the year.

Schatz, who is chasing Daryn Pittman for the series championship, put his STP/Armor All J&J on the pole for the 25-lap main event, where he was nearly untouchable in a dominating performance that sliced into Pittman’s advantage. Schatz will trail Pittman, who finished fourth, by 52 points entering the World Finals on Nov. 7-8-9 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“It was a good night, I got qualified decent and had a good heat race, really good dash and built on it for the feature,” said Schatz, of Fargo, N.D., who is fourth all-time in World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series history with 146 wins, seven behind Mark Kinser. “In the 25 laps, the car changed quite a bit, but the guys did a really good job, and they keep finding ways to make this car better and more fun for me to drive. I tried to play my lap traffic smart and get around them as quick as I could without jeopardizing anything.” (more…)

Great Action From Bubba Raceway Park As October Hits Full Throttle

IMG_3291-2Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put on great racing as October opens up.
Rich Pratt opened up the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds with the lead but Kyle Bronson had snatched it away by the end of lap four. Jim Passino would bring the caution out on lap twelve and leave Bronson to hold off “4-Time” Jeff Mathews and “The Kansas Kid” Paul Snyder in his brand new GRT by Fitzgerald with eight to go. Rick Scott spun and left the field bunched up with three to go. It wouldn’t effect the order up front as Bronson held off Mathews and Snyder. Danny Johnson Captures DIRTcar ‘Hurricane 100’ at Brewerton Speedway

Packed House Watches Veteran Star Earn $10,000 Top Prize For Spectacular Drive

101013_BrewertonVLBREWERTON, NY – Oct. 10, 2013 – Danny Johnson turned a moribund night into an unforgettable evening on Thursday at Brewerton Speedway.

Recovering from a poor qualifying effort that had him pining to leave the one-third-mile oval, Johnson charged forward from the 26th starting spot to capture the DIRTcar 358-Modified SUNY-Canton ‘Hurricane 100.’

Johnson, 53, of Phelps, N.Y., pocketed $10,000 for his convincing march to victory, which he clinched by passing Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, N.Y., for the lead on lap 79. The DIRTcar Northeast superstar cruised away from the pack over the remaining distance to top a wildly competitive race that featured six changes among five drivers and a battle for second place that wasn’t decided until the checkered flag.

Pat Ward of Genoa, N.Y., finished in that runner-up spot, nipping Sheppard by a couple car lengths at the finish line after his late-race charge saw him overtake Sheppard at the white flag. Sheppard, who led la 60 and 66-78, settled for third place, falling short of repeating his triumph in the previous night’s DIRTcar 358-Modified Series 75-lapper at Weedsport (N.Y.) Speedway. (more…)

Chris Madden Takes First Career Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout Victory

MaddenWOODSTOCK, GA (October 5, 2013) – After coming close a year ago to winning his first Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout, Chris Madden sealed the deal tonight to take home the $10,000 pay day in the Southeast’s most prestigious event. Madden led all 50 laps for his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph of 2013.

Billy Ogle, Jr. charged from the 11th starting position to take second. RED BUCK Fast Qualifier and pole sitter Randy Weaver came home in third. Six-time Shootout winner, Scott Bloomquist was fourth. Defending race winner, Jimmy Owens finished fifth.

“After what happened to us last year, leading until the last lap and not winning, this feels great,” said the 38-year-old veteran driver. “The car was so good all night. I told Scott (Bloomquist) I didn’t know what to do to the car for the feature. It was very easy to drive, and that’s a scary feeling going into the feature, because you want to change something. But you don’t want to mess up anything.” (more…)

October 5, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Double Features would be held for the Late Models as Mother Nature put an end to last week’s feature. Also racing was the East Bay Sprints, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks, V8 Warriors and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

First feature of the night was the make-up feature from last week. Kyle Musselman and Josh Peacock would make up the front row. When the green waved it was Peacock leading the way until a few cautions would come out. One caution was for Kyle Musselman as he spun in turn four bunching up the field for a restart. Behind Peacock was Mavrick Varnadore and Jamie Slatton. Caution came out as Kenny Monahan would slow on lap nine. On the restart Peacock now had Steve Miller and David Schmauss trailing him. On lap seventeen it was Jamie Slatton spinning after falling back several spots and in the top five. When the final green waved on lap seventeen crossing the line first was Peacock picking up his third feature of the year. Rounding out the top five were Steve Miller, David Schmauss, Travis Varnadore and Kyle Musselman. (more…)

October Begins With A Bang At Bubba Raceway Park

IMG_3143Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Limited Sprints, Limited late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and TQ Late Models all put on a fantastic show to start off September. Also, don’t forget that we have a 32″ TV being raffled off courtesy of BendinRulesEmporium.com and all proceeds will go the family of PJ Wiggins on the night of October 19th which is the PJ Wiggins Memorial.

Limited Late Models started the action off with Tyler Clem opening the gap up from pole. Richard Ferry would give chase, but a little past halfway he found his racecar slowing and would retire with that. Clem would continue to open the gap and eventually beat Shane Koperda by over 17 seconds. Ricky Land would round out the podium with Chuck Jackson and Ferry the top five.

Brian Hansford opened up with the lead in the Hobby Stocks, but Tim Powers was hunting him down and had Mike Stalnaker with him. At the halfway point Heath Walker looped his #55 and left Hansford to fend off Powers and Stalnaker. On the restart Hansford didn’t fire and Powers made contact that sent the #2 around. Stalnaker, Joey Forsyth, and Wally Schneider were involved as well and the #57 of Schneider would retire as the right rear wheel fell off. Hansford would retire from the event (and was the caution causer anyway) leaving Powers, Stalnaker, and points leader Devin Walker up front. As lapped traffic came into play, Mike Stalnaker set up his move. As the front two entered turn one, Stalnaker used the lapped traffic of Donnie Reed and Dave Arivett to get around Tim Powers and grab the win. Devin Walker, Ray Ethridge, and Heath Walker completed the top five. (more…)
