Lucas LogoSWAINSBORO, GA (June 20, 2013) – Dennis Erb Jr. led the final 17 laps, and went on to win the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on Thursday night at Swainsboro Raceway. Erb’s fourth win of the season was worth $10,000. Earl Pearson Jr. led the first 32 laps until Erb passed him on the high-side. Pearson finished second followed by Jared Landers, Don O’Neal, and Steve Francis.

“It’s our first time here; the car was good whether we ran low or high. I was setting him (Pearson) up for four or five laps and finally went into turn three and the car stuck, enabling me to finally get by Earl. It’s been a great year for us so far, this if our fourth Lucas Oil win! We aren’t worried about the points right now, we just want to win races,” said Erb, who was joined by Crew Chief, Heather Lyne, in Lucas Oil Victory Lane.

“It was a really good race for the lead there early on between us, Earl, and Jared. The track was really good after they worked on it during the break. I have to thank my sponsors: J&L Scrap Metal Metals, JR McBride Leasing, Bloomquist Race Cars, and Kuntz and Company Motors.” (more…)

CANTON, Ill. — June 19, 2013 —Defending DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals champion Kenny Wallace picked up his first victory of the 2013 tour on Wednesday night at Spoon River Speedway.

Wallace started on the outside of the front row and quickly charged to the front with Michael Long in pursuit at the 3/8-mile track. As the top five pulled away, Jake Griffin thrilled the crowd by wheeling his car around the cushion in an effort to run down Wallace and Long. Griffin’s efforts went for naught, though, when he slipped over the banking on the backstretch while running second with two laps to go.

Wallace held off Long for the $1,000 victory on a green-white-checkered finish, with Jeff Curl, Griffin and Allen Weisser rounding out the top five.

DQ GIVES BECKNER 50-LAP MODIFIED WIN AT ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD

Orlando Speedworld LogoThe rain finally held off for once at Orlando SpeedWorld and fans were treated
to some good NASCAR Whelan All-American Series racing on a warm, muggy night.
The Modified class was top bill of the evening going for 50 laps in their
feature.  Earl Beckner of Orlando was quickest in time trials turning a lap at
14.62 seconds just ahead of Lakeland’s Josh Todd who turned in a lap at
14.78.
Pole sitter Roger Benton grabbed the early lead and was looking strong until
Shain Held went for a spin on lap two off the bumper of Todd’s machine.  Todd
was sent to the rear of the field for the restart while Held got his spot
back.  Benton continued to lead the way but began to get pressure from
Beckner.  On lap ten, Beckner dove low into turn three to try and make a pass
and just barely touched the left rear tire of Benton’s car sending Beckner
into a wild slide.  Beckner restarted the event from the tail of the field.
On the restart, Benton’s car began to slide backwards, victim of a cut tire
from the incident with Beckner.  Todd moved his car to the front and began to
check out.  Lap 22 saw Beckner, his teammate Jason Vail and Matt Wheeler lock
horns in turn four.  There was no significant damage and all three continued.
Just as the field got the halfway signal on lap 25, Wheeler tangled with Matt
Jarrett on the front stretch and hit the wall.  The crash eliminated both
drivers from the race while Vail also took his car to the sidelines. (more…)
