Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL – The Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, and 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks were all offered the big money with no car count limits and no entry fees for 30-lap events while the Florida Mini Sprints and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators joined them for a fantastic night of racing at Bubba Raceway Park. Also, over $500 was put up by wonderful sponsors in AP Motor Sales, Dirts 4 Racing, Jeremy with Rocky’s Villa Restaurant in Orange Lake, American Choice RV, Don Milam’s Auto Dr.’s of Ocala, Rick Elwood at L&R Racing Products, 100 Proof Saloon, Marion Machine And Tool, D&R Chassis, Mike Peters, and Davey Kinsey’s Power House Machine Shop.
ROSSBURG, OH – Sept. 6, 2013 – Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., and Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., scored $5,000 triumphs in the Twin 25-lap features that highlighted Friday night’s second preliminary program of the 43rd annual DIRTcar UMP-sanctioned World 100 at Eldora Speedway.
Both World of Outlaws Late Model Series regulars took advantage of front-row starting spots to lead their respective headliners from flag-to-flag, but their roads to Victory Lane were far from easy.
McCreadie, 39, recorded his long-awaited first career dirt Late Model win at the high-banked, half-mile oval in the event reserved for the evening’s odd-number qualifiers. He grabbed the lead from the pole position at the initial green flag and was never headed in a caution-free race, but he barely outlasted the late-charging Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, Pa., who swiped the runner-up spot from Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, Mich., on the final lap.
Lanigan, 43, raced off the outside pole to capture the feature for the even-number qualifiers after surviving mid-race challenges from John Blankenship of Williamson, W.Va., and Jared Landers of Batesville, Ark., and outrunning fellow WoO LMS traveler Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., in the final circuits. CHICO, Calif. – Sept. 6, 2013 – Joey Saldana drove his Motter Equipment machine to the lead with seven laps to go on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway then held on to win his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series race of the season and kick off the 60th Gold Cup Race of Champions weekend in style.
Pole-sitter Jason Sides led twice and held onto second as Andy Forsberg, an ecstatic local racer, was cheered by the partial California crowd after earning the third spot on the podium. Shane Stewart recouped from a wreck on Wednesday night at Cottage Grove Speedway to finish fourth while Tim Kaeding, winner of the previous two World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car events, was fifth after charging from 19th to earn the KSE Hard Charger Award.
Sides started on the pole of the 30-lap feature event and worked the bottom while second-place running Brad Sweet worked the top side of the high-banked quarter-mile oval. On lap four, following a restart, Sweet got the drive he needed off of turn two to take the lead. (more…)
ROSSBURG, OH – Sept. 5, 2013 – Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, Mich., and Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., opened the newly expanded World 100 weekend with victories in Thursday night’s Twin 25-lap features at Eldora Speedway.
With the DIRTcar UMP-sanctioned event’s 112-car field split in half by time-trial results, VanWormer captured the caution-free first A-Main for odd-numbered qualifiers and Clanton added another flourish to his sparkling record at the Big E in the nightcap reserved for even-numbered qualifiers. Both drivers cashed $5,000 paychecks for their triumphs.
A fan favorite well known for his hard-charging style on the high-banked, half-mile Eldora oval, VanWormer vaulted from the third starting spot to the lead at the initial start of the first feature and never looked back. He led every lap of a race that was completed in just under seven-and-a-half minutes. (more…)
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Sept. 4, 2013 – Tim Kaeding brought the fans to their feet with a run from fifth-to-first on Wednesday night at Cottage Grove Speedway for his second consecutive World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory on the Gold Rush Tour and ninth series win overall this season.
Kaeding and the Roth Motorsports entry battled their way past Cody Darrah for the lead on lap 15 and held off Kyle Larson to the checkered flag in the 40-lap feature.
World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship leader Daryn Pittman was third with pole-sitter Joey Saldana in fourth and Donny Schatz in fifth.
Saldana led the opening laps by working the bottom of the track before Darrah took a few laps to get his speed going around the top as he blazed to a solid lead coming off of turn four on lap three for the lead.
The top line took off dropping Saldana a few positions over the next few laps while Larson and Kaeding both ran behind Darrah on the top of the quarter-mile oval. (more…)
The 2013 Season is winding down but the racing action has been heating up, as the various Championship battles come to a head, and the Snowball Derby looms in sight. Regardless of the motives, the competitors have pulled out all the stops for the last few races.
The Open Wheel Modified Championship has just 2 races left, and defending champion Donnie Hamrac has closed the gap on early season sensation Brandon Howell. And Donald Crocker has set the bar as of late, winning the most recent 5 Flags event. The Super Stock division has very much the same scenario going on, with Bubba Winslow and Randy Thompson battling for the 2nd straight year. The Super Stocks will go at it again this Friday, with their Championship event scheduled for the night of Sept. 20th. The Beef O’Brady’s Sportsman division has pretty much been the Steve Buttrick show in 2013, but defending Champion Brannon Fowler has kept him close all season long, and has the chance to close the gap on Double Points night this Friday. Same goes for the Butler U Pull-It Bombers, where Michael Nelson seems to have found his groove, winning most recently and staying atop the points standings where he has resided all year. (more…)

LEBANON, Ore. – Sept. 3, 2013 – Tim Kaeding held off Donny Schatz on a green-white-checkered finishTuesday night at Willamette Speedway to earn his eighth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory of the season.
Kaeding drove around Rico Abreu on lap 11 of the 30-lap A-main to swipe the lead, then held him off on a wild restart that saw Abreu exit two laps later with a damaged machine after contact with another car. On the ensuing restart, Schatz got around second-place running Sammy Swindell and set his sights on Kaeding in search of a third consecutive win.
With two grooves working, Kaeding raced the top side as Schatz closed the gap on the bottom. The two hit lapped traffic with 10 to go and each carefully worked through it until a red flag for Trey Starks set up a green-white-checkered shootout with Kaeding in front and Schatz, Swindell and pole-sitter Paul McMahan ready to pounce.
Kaeding pulled away just enough in his Roth Enterprises car to keep Schatz and Swindell at bay over the final two laps before chaos erupted behind them when McMahan was spun coming to the checkered flag. (more…)
Winchester, Indiana (Monday, September 2, 2013): The famed 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana served as hosts for a Labor Day Weekend Tradition; the World Stock Car Festival on Sunday-Monday, September 1-2nd as the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS headlined the holiday weekend with the running of the Winchester 100. This event was also the final tune-up at the historic high-banks before the 42nd running of the Winchester 400, the final jewel in the $100,000 JEGS Triple Crown Series on Friday-Sunday, October 11-13th.
Three-Time and Reigning ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion, Johnny VanDoorn, the only driver eligible for the unprecedented $100,000 bonus from JEGS for winning all three legs of the Triple Crown, served notice to all incoming invaders that come October, the familiar #61 Port City Racecars / Ford will be the one to beat as the Coopersville, Michigan standout tuned up for the 400 by scoring his fourth ARCA/CRA Super Series triumph of the 2013 racing season. He took the lead from outside pole-sitter, Terry Fisher Jr., on lap eight and from there, fought off consistent charges from Current ARCA/CRA Super Series Points Leader, Travis Braden to secure the win.
“We came here and accomplished exactly what we set out to do, get seat time, learn some new things, and set the tone for October when the 400 gets here. That’s the goal and that’s what we are completely focused on with this car,” Explained VanDoorn who picked up his 17th career ARCA/CRA Super Series victory to move into a tie for third all-time in Career Wins with Canadian Legend, Junior Hanley. “Very happy to Win here. CARTERSVILLE, GA – Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS has clinched the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Championship after driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT to his 14th win of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. Daspit had did have to overcome some adversity, to seal the deal for the $10,000 title.
Daspit had some problems with his primary car, the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star in the pre-race warm-up laps, so he climbed into the car of his teammate, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, set fast time, and won the race. Lee drove the car to his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS.
While Daspit has 14 wins this season, only 13 of them count in his best 14 week total of 699 points because he posted two wins in the same week, and only one can count in the 14 week total. With four weeks left in the season, the 43-year-old driver needs one more 50-point win to become the first driver in the eight-year history of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series to record a perfect point total of 700.
