October Begins With A Bang At Bubba Raceway Park

IMG_3143Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Limited Sprints, Limited late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and TQ Late Models all put on a fantastic show to start off September. Also, don’t forget that we have a 32″ TV being raffled off courtesy of BendinRulesEmporium.com and all proceeds will go the family of PJ Wiggins on the night of October 19th which is the PJ Wiggins Memorial.

Limited Late Models started the action off with Tyler Clem opening the gap up from pole. Richard Ferry would give chase, but a little past halfway he found his racecar slowing and would retire with that. Clem would continue to open the gap and eventually beat Shane Koperda by over 17 seconds. Ricky Land would round out the podium with Chuck Jackson and Ferry the top five.

Brian Hansford opened up with the lead in the Hobby Stocks, but Tim Powers was hunting him down and had Mike Stalnaker with him. At the halfway point Heath Walker looped his #55 and left Hansford to fend off Powers and Stalnaker. On the restart Hansford didn’t fire and Powers made contact that sent the #2 around. Stalnaker, Joey Forsyth, and Wally Schneider were involved as well and the #57 of Schneider would retire as the right rear wheel fell off. Hansford would retire from the event (and was the caution causer anyway) leaving Powers, Stalnaker, and points leader Devin Walker up front. As lapped traffic came into play, Mike Stalnaker set up his move. As the front two entered turn one, Stalnaker used the lapped traffic of Donnie Reed and Dave Arivett to get around Tim Powers and grab the win. Devin Walker, Ray Ethridge, and Heath Walker completed the top five. (more…)

Fred Rahmer Earns His First Williams Grove Speedway National Open Victory in Final Attempt of His Career

Pennsylvania Legend Earns $50,000 at World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Crown Jewel

RahmerMECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Oct. 5, 2013 – Fred Rahmer sure knows how to throw a retirement party. Rahmer, the leader of the Pennsylvania Posse competing on Saturday in what is widely expected to be his final National Open at Williams Grove Speedway, won the historic event for the first time in his hall-of-fame career.

Rahmer and Steve Buckwalter swapped the lead before Rahmer moved to the front for good on lap 14 of the 40-lap, $50,000-to-win crown jewel event.

“It’s absolutely incredible,” said Rahmer, of Salfordville, Pa. “I don’t know what to say. It sure felt good going across the scales and all the Outlaw guys coming up and congratulating me, that meant more than the 50 grand. One of my goals this year was to win an Outlaw race, and it’s a high goal to set. Everyone had me dead and buried and washed up. This proves them wrong.” (more…)

Historic Day for Kimmel at Kansas

Earns Record-Breaking 80th ARCA Victory after Securing Record 10th ARCA Title

kimmel_kansas(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) – Everyone at Kansas Speedway Friday was part of racing history as Frank Kimmel won his series-record 80th race, plus clinched his unprecedented 10th series championship.

“This is kind of a dream come true, to win the championship and get our 80th win on the same day,”

Kimmel said in victory lane. “It’s a great day for us, a great day for Ansell and Menards. It’s a cool day.”

Kimmel’s historic win broke the tie he had with Iggy Katona, each with 79 prior to the completion of the race.

ARCA Racing Series and Kansas Speedway officials decided to shorten the Kansas Lottery 98.9 by 34 laps due to threatening weather approaching the greater Kansas City area and the desire to clear the grandstands. Lightning was visible in the distance when Kimmel exited the car in front of a celebratory crew and family. Heavy rains hit the track later.

Mason Mitchell, in the No. 82 Happy Cheeks Ford, finished second while Venturini Motorsports cars driven by John Wes Townley, polesitter Dylan Kwasniewski, and Justin Boston finished third through fifth respectively. (more…)

Championship Races Getting Tight At Bubba Raceway Park

10052013-2Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Limited Sprints will open up October at Bubba Raceway Park, as will the Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and TQ Late Models.

The Bubba Army Limited Sprints have had two events thus far, but both winners are stuck deep in the points chase. Robbie Smith, still winless at Ocala’s 3/8 mile track, is the points leader by 12 over Terry Witherspoon who is also winless in his career at Bubba Raceway Park. Otto Scrape rides third, but he’s 30 markers behind Smith. Tyler Clem, the eleven year old, sits fourth, but the winner last time out- Mark Ruel, Jr.- is right behind him. Ruel has taken the checkers twice but only has one trophy in his shop; Matt Kurtz has the other after Ruel fell foul of the heavily monitored series’ rules.

Tyler Clem would drive in all five divisions if he could, but he’ll most likely stop at double duty. Clem (who will also race in the Limited Sprints) is the 49 point leader of the Limited Late Models and fell one lap- and one cut tire- from making it three in a row last week. Chuck Jackson continues to lose touch in second, while Nevin Gainey closed his gap down to a massive 168 points with his second win on the season. Kevin Mills and Tim Powers, two-time winner on the year, round out the top five. (more…)

Say It!

IMG_2742-3Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators put on a fantastic show to wrap up September at Bubba Raceway Park.
Sean Monoghan opened up the night with the Hobby Stock feature lead, but a determined Devin Walker stole it away on a lap four miscue by Monoghan. As Mike Stalnaker and Monoghan made it three wide with Walker for the lead, Wally Schneider spun in turn four and brought out the yellow on lap seven. Stalnaker would slow on lap eight and contact with Walker forced both into the pits and left Hunter Gustafson- who started from the tail- with the lead over Monoghan and Joey Forsyth. Monoghan would slow on lap ten as Walker found himself fifth at the time. Gustafson would hold on for the win over Forsyth (a career best), a rebounding Devin Walker, Heath Walker, and Jon Layerd.
The Limited Late Models saw Dale Pope jump to the early lead over Tyler Clem, Richard Ferry, and Nevin Gainey as the rest of the pack watched their cars get smaller and smaller. Just past halfway, Ferry retired, Gainey slowed, and Pope made contact with Chuck Jackson who was at the tail of the lead lap. Removing Gainey (the caution causer) and Ferry, the order with seven to go was Pope, Clem, and Bill Adkins. Gainey rejoined at the tail of the lead lap. The downforce issue would cost Pope as Clem took to the lowside and pulled away after the restart. Clem would cut a tire with two to go and a resilient effort would fall short. nevin Gainey would win over Dale Pope, Bill Adkins, Tyler Clem, and Kevin Mills. (more…)
