From the Pensacola News Journal:
What a show they witnessed at Five Flags Speedway last night as the winged pavement sprint cars of the King of the Wing Series lit up the track.
Bobby Santos led several times Friday, including the final 10 laps of the 40 lapper, to win the King of the Wing’s season opener.
Kyle Edwards of Bartlett, Tenn., finished second and Tampa’s Troy DeCaire rallied home from the back for third.
Bronson Speedway fans were treated to an exciting evening of intense, side by side, paint swapping, heart pounding “thats what we call racing” events this past Saturday night. If you were not there you definitely missed a night of come backs…
Kevin Durden returned to the high banks of Bronson Speedway in the “Pork Chop Wilson” owned # 56. Durden’s car looked hot just rolling out of the trailer and when it took to the track, the stop watch doesn’t lie…Lightning fast…. however in the tweaking of the set up process, disaster struck…Engine issues would side line the well know Durden and his come back to Bronson Speedway would be delayed.
(CNN)A Lamborghini sports car crashed into a guardrail at Walt Disney World Speedway on Sunday, killing a passenger, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. at the Exotic Driving Experience, which bills itself as a chance to drive your dream car on a racetrack.
A male 36-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The car’s driver, a man who lost control of the vehicle, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.
Petty Holdings, which operates the Exotic Driving Experience at Walt Disney World Speedway, released a statement Sunday night about the crash.
“On behalf of everyone in the organization, it is with a very heavy heart that we extend our deepest sympathies to those involved in today’s tragic accident in Orlando,” the company said.
Petty Holdings also operates the Richard Petty Driving Experience — a chance to drive or ride in NASCAR race cars named for the winningest driver in the sport’s history.
